Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

Recommended Posts

After hearing about the show on Entertainment Tonight, I checked the guide to see if it was on. Surprise surprise...it was. From the half-hour I saw of it, [Evolution was on at 10:30] the show looked real great and quite funny. Anyone else watch this odd, but funny, show?

Believe it or not, that show is one of the only "Reality" shows I can actually sit through and enjoy. Probably because they actually tell you things that are useful in everyday life, as compared to "Extreme Makeover" where people get their faces torn off for the sake of looking 10 years younger. The people on the show are not turned into fucking movie stars or models, but just upgraded so they could mesh well with society. I saw on Zap2It the other day that since the show drew one of Bravo's highest ratings (1.6 million viewers) they were going to air a half hour special on NBC this Thursday at 9:30.

i think bravo's trying to get a corner on that lucrative "gay men 18-49" demographic. they've got another reality show coming up, 'boy meets boy', which is a competition like the bachelor except it's a guy choosing guys, and some of the guys are straight & he DOESN'T KNOW WHO~!

but yeah, i've caught 'queer eye' once or twice and it was actually pretty interesting.

Well it's better than the demographic that were attracting...

No One.

Screw that! BRAVO is one of my favorite channels!

The Larry Sanders Show, Inside the Actor's Studio, good movies, etc.!

Another show that sounds interesting. If it doesn't interfere with Evo, then I'll most likely watch ^_^

They attracted two very lucrative markets

The "absolutely adores-and-finds-fascinating-Inside-the-Actors-Studio-and-its-deeply-intelligent-host-James-Lipton"

and the "watches-Inside-the-Actors-Studio-only-to-make-fun-of-what-a-complete-ass-kisser-James-Lipton-is"

My only problem with this show is that by the time they get done, all of the straight guys getting makeovers wind up looking like gay men.

It's not a bad thing to look like a gay man (withing reason). Gay men tend to be neat, well-dresses, and very appealing looking.

I didn't know all gay men looked alike.

Don't blame this on me.

I'm merely calling into question the ability of these five men to makeover a straight slob and NOT have the result be that the "victim" looks just like they do.

From this chick's point of view, there is noooo problem with that ^_^

I don't know. I'm generally an idiot when it comes to details, but the five of them didn't really look alike.

Unless you consider "looking halfway decent" = gay, I don't see your point.

The show's great. The guys who do the makeovers, particularly the blonde one, have comic timing that blows my mind. I'm sure they benefit a lot from editing, but all of these guys are hilarious.

It makes me consistently laugh out loud, which very few TV shows can pull off. Good enough for me.
