Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 It could be worse...Steiner still has the ability to capture heat or get a reaction when he isn't pushed like he was in January. Steiner at this point is a Damn Good Mid-Carder and he was incredible with his heel run in the dying WCW days.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted July 24, 2003 i agree, he's good where he is now and was great in the dying days of the WCW. but i don't think he can even reach the level he had in those days (2000-2001)
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Maybe not in the ring but I don't think the character is impossible for Steiner to revive...
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 IMO...Scott Steiner was what WWE wanted Brock Lesnar to be. It's such a fucking shame this generation of Fans only remember Steiner for falling off the apron...WHICH HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES EVEN FROM THE GREAT ONES. (Yes, Flair slipped before) Lesnar botched on the biggest stage in the business but how come you don't make fun of that? Or what about when Haybusa botched the Lionsault and (I believe) was Paryalyzed? What's the difference...All three of those were done in the same context...In the guise of a Wrestling Match...Steiner was going for a Apron move (I think a Axe Hammer) and slipped...No different from Brock and Hayabusa botching spots. It's only deemed funny because we decided that Steiner is just a joke and we can make fun of him but when any one else that is particularly loved or admired in the business we either gloss over it or rather, we just make up excuses for it. Actually Hayabusa was trying to do an Asai moonsault and he's been paralyzed ever since, but i agree with Goldberg's screw up being the most embarrasing thing that could ever happen to a wrestler in the ring. I think Bill Watts said it best in Foley's book that if a wrestler on his first day at work tripped over the ropes while he was trying to get into the ring, he was fired on the spot.Linda's dissappointment (Goldbitch) doesn't belong in a ring, unless is a toilet ring. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 My Bad...I knew it was some Moonsault variation...
Guest Deviant Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Botching a move and being unable to climb ropes or jump successfully are two slightly different things... Notice that most rip into Steiner for bad matches and falling on his face, not so much his attempt at a double underhook suplex at RR. Of course, give him time and he'll give us more ammo. By the way, Steiner gets heat? What did I miss? The seperate entrances for Steiner and Stacy on Raw showed exactly where the fan response is aimed at. Guest papacita Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Eh...just to throw one of those "smark darlings" into the mix, what about RVD's fuck up at SummerSlam 2001? I think that was WAY funnier than Steiner's fall.
Guest Goose749 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 refresh my memory on that one, I do not recall...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 I don't either...
Guest papacita Report post Posted July 24, 2003 It was during the ladder match between he and Jeff Hardy at SummerSlam. Jeff was hanging from the belt hook, and RVD went up to hit him with a spin kick but missed and flew all the way across the ring.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Again... At least that was in the Guise of the match unlike Goldberg.
Guest papacita Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Again... At least that was in the Guise of the match unlike Goldberg. True. That doesn't make it less funny though. I'd really have to see Goldberg's to judge which was funnier though.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Well it wasn't taped but The description alone makes the point clear. The fact he flipped the fans off because *HE* screwed up only makes it better.
Guest I Fear Hogans Air Guitair Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Steiner's was pretty funny although it was during a match. Goldberg is just an Idiot as for RVD's that leap was almost impossible even for RVD but still mildly funny. Oh yeah I just remembered the worst fall off all time it was during an APA backstage brawl Bradshaw was about to powerbomb some one through a table and in runs Viscera to make the save He slips on some water and land's flat on his Ass Bradshaw saw it and cracked up laughing. Guest Goose749 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 speaking of Bradshaw, since when was he on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"? I'd say that the hairdresser guy really screwed him over. Anyway, quick question about Lesnar's splash accident... Was that supposed to miss, or did Angle do a good job of covering?
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Wait...Yeah...Viscera was better then Goldberg. RVD would not have done that spot if he hadn't done it in pratice...so he likely was able to hit it then but not in the moment...Ala Lesnar and his SSP. Guest God Junior Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Question: Would would JR have said if Goldberg had tripped on live TV? (I know JR wasn't announcing Raw, but I just think whatever he'd say would be funnier than what Coach would say.)

He was supposed to hit the SSP and win the match there but since Angle could spot that Lesnar would botch it, he rolled over and went for the rest hold and ad libbed the final 4 minutes. Amazing to think Lesnar could F5 Angle safely with that Concussion.

Guest Goose749 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 thanx, CO Anyway, although it wasn't a screw up, I still find Books puking on Cole to be classic. Booker T > < Cole
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted July 25, 2003 I'll remember Steiner for the roids.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted July 25, 2003 I'll always remember Scott Steiner for his positives. His tag team glory days in both WCW & WWF with his brother Rick. His heel run in WCW. His WWF debut. Just all the mark out moments. I still have no problem with him.
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Eh...just to throw one of those "smark darlings" into the mix, what about RVD's fuck up at SummerSlam 2001? I think that was WAY funnier than Steiner's fall. the problem i think is that sometimes in ladder matches they put the belt too high, that's why almost all the time now they have to use that super huge ladder to get the belt. so in that match, Jeff was hanging higher than expected probably, so RVD couldn't make the kick
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 25, 2003 exactly...Like I said...RVD and Hardy likely practiced the spot time and time again. So he had a realistic shot of doing because he would not have attempted for the first time live.
Only The Strong Survive 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Does anyone have a video of Goldberg's slip-up? I'd love to see that...
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted July 25, 2003 we should NOT remeber Goldberg slipping on the ropes...rather for punching car windows
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 25, 2003 ^ Much better point. at least we have footage of that.
Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Wait up here, Lesnar messed up a very difficult spot (Shooting Star) which I have seen him hit before in person. Hayabusa got injured/crippled off of his botched spot so that's not funny at all. Steiner just slipped doing a typical "attack from the apron" spot and there wasn't an injury. I loved it so much and laughed so hard at it that I rewound the tape and watched it 4 or 5 times in slo mo after the PPV. So yeah, it beats Goldberg easy. I didn't even see the GB thing. Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Got it in one. The Steiner fall is funnier than any wrestling fuck-up. Ever. Even funnier than Viscera falling over in the beer. The whole context of the Steiner fuck-up, given that it occurred while he was trying to do a relatively simple jump, while he was trying to do a heroic act, the fact that it occurred after months of Steiner being mercilessly abused and mocked by internet fans and arena fans alike, the fact that Test had to try and sell the move and the fact that no-one actually got injured makes it sheer genius. I too rewinded it and just laughed myself into a heart attack many, many times.
Guest Mr. Adam Report post Posted July 25, 2003 That was hilarious. And Test was stuck in the ropes for a whole minute too. Too bad they edited it out the DVD. Seems WWE has double standards too. They leave all of Steiner's bloopers in. Nope, twas left in intact, no cuts to speak of during Test/Eddy. And I'll remember Steiner most for successfully recovering his career after the filthy crowd reaction he got off the Montreal fans at No Way Out.
