Rock And Roll All Nite - Kiss w/The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra The sound mix is EXCELLENT, like the original ALIVE! album..the Orchestra sounds real good with the classic songs like "Black Diamond" & "King Of The Night Time World". They should of called it the DESTROYER Symphony since it was only two tracks away from playing the whole album (Sweet Pain & Flaming Youth). This CD is a really good value($15.99 for regular, $27.99 for deluxe) and some of the songs are re-mixed due to new guitarist Tommy Thayer. KISS fan or not, you should check this one out. Tracks remixed: Lick It Up (new solo) Forever Let Me Go Rock N Roll and more! Highly Recommended! on Amazon.com right now the Deluxe CD & the Regular CD are the same price almost http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=music DVD comes out in Sept. Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 I'd give it a shot for Beth, DTR and King of the Nighttime World
Guest pochorenella Report post Posted July 24, 2003 rumor has it that this is going to be in a DVD aswell? Is it true? According to Kissonline.com it's coming out September 9. I'll be first in line for that one. My Deluxe Edition CD from Amazon.com it's already shipped and coming my way soon. I'll bring it to the West Palm Beach show and since I have that Gold Package deal, hopefully I'll meet the band and get them to autograph it. Paul, care to explain the musical difference between the Ensemble and the Orchestra on discs 1 and 2?
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2003 Sounds like an excellent buy. I'll definitely be picking this one up to add to my KISS cd collection. I'd rather hear "Flaming Youth" than "Great Expectations", but it obviously fits better with the orchestra, so I'll take it and like it.
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted July 25, 2003 What's the difference between the regular and deluxe version?
Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Answers: Question 1) It's more of a harmony orchestra really, with horns and such. Sounds really nice. Question 2) The Deluxe DigiPak has a cool fold-out cover with a poster & other stuff while the standard is just the jewel case, cds, and booklet. BestBuy has the standard for $15.99 and the Deluxe for $23.99 Brunzel: Flaming Youth would of been a cool choice, it has only be played a couple of times live(about 4) and is possibly the rarest KISS song ever peformed. The last time it was played was during a soundcheck . From KISSFAQ.com "Flaming Youth" was something of an attempt to recapture the anthemic nature of "Rock And Roll All Nite" which had broken the band to their initial success. This would be something of a formula on the singles released from "Destroyer" which included it "Detroit Rock City" and "Shout It Out Loud". It would have been thought that a song with this style would have worked well in a live setting, though from the recordings of the song it seems to have been somewhat awkward live. Part of the "Destroyer" set for the European visit in the Summer of 1976, and for some early dates on the North American leg of the tour, the song would not survive with "Do You Love Me" eventually replacing it. While there was no shortage of material in the set from "Destroyer", with "Do You Love Me", "King Of The Night Time World", "Detroit Rock City", "God Of Thunder", and "Shout It Out Loud" being played in the set during various parts of the tour. Interestingly, "Flaming Youth" would be one of the songs the reunited band sound-checked at their rehearsal for the October 31st, 1998 "Psycho Circus" show. That being said, i have one of the shows from Houston 76 when Flaming Youth was peformed, maybe someday it will be returned to the set list, maybe.
Guest kingkamala Report post Posted July 25, 2003 Slightly off topic but am I the only one who likes KISS-Unmasked? I thought it was a decent little early 80's pop-rock album despite sounding nothing like KISS for the most part.
Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2003 I love KISS Unmasked. She's So European needs to be played live, Shandi is awesome.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted July 26, 2003 It amazes me that Kiss can keep suckering people into buying the exact same songs over and over and over again.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted July 27, 2003 I haven't heard it yet, but I will say that the notion of an entire orchestra wearing KISS makeup is one of the more beautiful visions that has ever been produced by mere humans, along with David Hasselhoff performing in a suit covered with neon lights at the fall of the Berlin wall. Guest pochorenella Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Kiss Alive IV:Symphony will debut today on Billboard's Top 200 Albums at #18 with 41,000 copies sold. It's the first "Alive" album not to enter the Top 10 (Alive I, II, and III all did.) Kinda disappointed with that opening. I thought it would be Top 10 for sure, but there were so many high-profile releases this week so it had hard competition. But the album went Gold already, so mixed emotions with me. HellSpawn 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 It amazes me that Kiss can keep suckering people into buying the exact same songs over and over and over again. And the worst thing is... sometimes is the same album with a different cover. Now turnign back into Kiss fan... But.. but.. Lethargic... this are Live songs with Orchestra !!!! I probably wait for the DVD.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 9, 2003 Alive IV was worth picking up. Some of the choir/orchestra arrangements helped enhance their sound. I may get the DVD, but I'm satisfied with the CD
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 No complaints on my part with the CD. I thought it was a terrific sound with the orchestra, but can somebody confirm if it's the exact same set list they did on the show or were there any songs not included on the CD? Thanks. Paul Stanley 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2003 It's the same setlist MINUS Paul's talking before every song, theres bits and peices there but not the long raps he does.
