Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Kane's first PPV match with the new gimmick should be a decisive squash. Wouldn't you rather Shane McMahon be the victim now so RVD can have a more competitive match with him down the road? Right now they are establishing Kane as a monster so no matter who he faces at SummerSlam they stand no chance in hell of coming out of it looking halfway decent. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Do you really think that the Summerslam match will be a decisive squash? We're talking about the same guy that went toe-to-toe with Kurt Angle (in several aspects including.... on the mat??????) two years ago.... I may be wrong but 48 hours ago I was one of the very few that wasn't surprised that John Cena got beat clean (and in some people's minds, twice over) by Taker. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 29, 2003 I'd rather see Kane/Shane. At least that way RVD doesn't get buried Being left off the show doesn't bury him?
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Kurt Angle wasn't billed as an unstoppable machine and had already competed in two matches prior to his bout with Shane.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted July 29, 2003 I'd rather see Kane/Shane. At least that way RVD doesn't get buried Being left off the show doesn't bury him? No. Or at least not as much as getting squashed.

No. Or at least not as much as getting squashed. Who get left off PPVs? Losers. Who gets left off three pay per views in a span of nine months? Big losers. Who gets left off Wrestlemania and Summerslam? Not even worth my time.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted July 29, 2003 That would make Shawn Michaels a loser as he has missed several. Plus, RVD doesn't have to be off the PPV completely, he could run-in and help Shane or whatever.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 29, 2003 Actually all the cool guys get left off PPV now, like Matt Hardy and the Hurricane.

Plus, RVD doesn't have to be off the PPV completely, he could run-in and help Shane or whatever. Shawn isn't a full time wrestler anymore. Even the marks see that. I'm sure he is, but most of the time they make him to be not physically capable of wrestling full time Hell, he only occasionally shows up on Raw.

Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Isn't it a little late to be worried about burying RVD Yeah, I would suggest so I made that exact same point last week and everyone got all pissy about it. Reason being, if booked properly he could still be a star.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Maybe, but he isn't ever gonna be booked "properly" in the eyes of the smarks.
Guest Retro Rob Report post Posted July 30, 2003 At this point it's going to take a hell of a lot of effort to get him back to the level he was at in 2001, popularity wise, and we all know that no one in WWE is going to put that much effort into RVD. chaosrage 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2003 - Second, even when Shane does show up with a grudge against Kane, what in the hell is he gonna do about it? Shane shouldn't stand a chance against any wrestler, even in kayfabe terms. I don't know about you, but if I did everything I could to someone.... and they laughed at me for it, I sure as hell wouldn't think I stood a chance against him. I would be scared to death. Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Maybe, but he isn't ever gonna be booked "properly" in the eyes of the smarks. Was that another "our standards are too high" post? Not really. I just meant that what the WWE sees a "properly booking" RVD is probably very different from the smarks see as "properly booking" him.

Ultimo Dugas 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2003 I like Shane and find him entertaining but there was no reason to make him look that over especially during this giant Kane push. As far as RVD goes, getting pinned by a Val Venis DDT is about as low as you can get, and it will be hard if they ever try to push him again after that severe burial. Adam 0 Report post Posted July 30, 2003 I am really sad that RVD has been buried like this. You can say all you want, but RVD has been buried terribly, and he deserves much better.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 30, 2003 I have a great solution for RVD. Get him the fuck out of this ludicrous Kane storyline. Yah I know it wouldn't make sense for him just to not care about getting revenge anymore, but there is a lot worse logic gaps. Let Shane McMahon have his "I am so great" match with Kane, and he can avenge his mom, who he will probably detest and feud with in 3 months anyway. Just get RVD the hell away from this whole storyline, and I would be happy.

But he didn't act all scared shitless. Did you see the look on his face when Kane started laughing. It was all "I'm going to fuck you up" not "Holy shit!" And then after the cameras stopped rolling he jumped down there and brawled to the back with him! How should he even have been able to brawl to the back!? Yeah Kane no-sold Shane's offense but Shane in turn no sold that.
Guest jester Report post Posted July 30, 2003 The people that are defending the whole Kane/Shane thing seem to believe that Kane will destroy Shane at the next PPV. I doubt this is true. Having watched Vince beat a one-legged wrestler he's supposedly trying to turn into a marketable character and have Taker go over Cena, I don't think they have any appreciation for the damage their booking does. It would not shock me if Shane outright WON their match. The defenders also seem to believe RVD will be brought into the feud later. I doubt this is true as well. I think at best he'll be given a midcard heel to deal with, like Christain. Or maybe we'll get that epic Test/RVD feud we've been waiting for.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted July 30, 2003 if Shane goes over, Kane is done and better switch gimmicks. I doubt it will happen though. However it won't be a squash which is lame as hell. If the match does happen, there is no excuse for it not to be a squash & a half.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Maybe, but he isn't ever gonna be booked "properly" in the eyes of the smarks. Was that another "our standards are too high" post? Here's my standard. RVD gets into a feud, doesn't get beat up the entire time, and has a blow off on PPV. That's all I'm asking for...

If the match does happen, there is no excuse for it not to be a squash & a half. You're probably right. Kane will probably go over, but not before an epic bumpfest where Shane is shown to have at least stood a chance. Even though it should be a total squash. Mind you, I still can't 100% rule out a Shane victory. I have that little faith.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Damn, there are a lot of guys that have already lost faith in RVD, let me just remind you that Kane was in worst shape than Rob and by teaming with him plus getting this can't miss storyline he has become the monster he was back in 1997/98. Even Big Slow who has jobbed to Jeff Hardy has become a real threat to the WWE title in the marks' eyes, all the writers need to do is get behind RVD's push 100%, but as of right now it seems that they are trying their hardest to bury him, for example being left out of the Summerslam ppv like they did in Mania. Since Shane is taking Rob's spot i guess he'll be on Heat again, meanwhile we might get to see a Y2J/Nash match from hell at the ppv.
