At least once on PPV...

Survivor Series 1992 vs Bret Hart for the Heavyweight Title (Shawn was the IC champ at the time)

Shawn misses a missle kick from the top rope, Bret takes advantage by slapping on the sharpshooter. Shawn taps, match over.

i think coach made an even funnier faux-pas when he called shane a "child prodigy." no one old enough to drink should be called a child prodigy.

They also said that Nash never tapped, which I believe is also inaccurate.

There's gotta be more than one time. This would have been better if there was a list of around ten times Shawn gave up. Was it really that much of a rarity? I don't have that good of a memory...

When DID Nash tap?

He lost to Bret a few times. I don't recall the finishes, and I never watched WCW during his stint.

I only remember him fighting Bret twice - at royal rumble and survivor series in 95.

The rumble was a no contest because of interference and the SS match ended on a small package, so no Nash tapping.

I'm positive he tapped in his Oz & Vinnie Vegas days. Probably to Luger.

I too heard this, and was thinking when he tapped. I can't think of ANY. I'm sure he did under some gimmick, but since he became "Nash", I can't think of one. He's the smartest man in wrestling.

Someone familiar with WCW would probably know about what he did over there as well.

Chris Benoit & Scott Steiner have both made Nash tap. Not sure if anyone besides Bret has made HBK tap though.

Did Steiner make him tap?? Or did he "pass out" from the pain? I think the latter. And I REALLY can't see Nash tapping for Benoit, not in an actual match, although I could be wrong.

Didn't Shamrock make Michaels tap in 97 during the time when DX was heel.

Yes, but I don't think that was in a match. Actually, it have been in tag match on Raw. But, either way, Shawn tapped.

Sid made Nash tap to the crossface on Thunder, in what many call the greatest wrestling match in history. The match was beautifully paced and the run in of the Harris brothers made the match that much better. Once again, Nash’s perfect selling came into play as is many girlish screams really made me feel the pain of the move. A five star classic if I ever saw one. The only match that even came close to duplicating the greatness that was Sid /Nash cage match was Sid versus Tank. Which coincidentally also ended in a submission victory for the Millennium Man.

He’s the greatest I tells ya…the greatest.

Looks like my sarcasm-detecting-machine just blew up again...

I doubt HBK has tapped that many times, he was dubbed the most Resilient Champion of all time by Vince.

The Bret one I'd count, the Shamrock one is a bit iffy though.

Well, if Shawn hasn't tapped out in ten years it sure seems sort of special to me.

It was leading into Survivor Series 97 as the WWF was pushing Shamrock as a title contender. First he fought Bret in a title match on Raw - which went to a no contest because of Shawn's interference (even though he made Bret tap after the ref was knocked cold) - then he fought Shawn a week or two later with the same finish due to Bret's interference (and made Shawn tap while the ref was out of it).

The thing is, not too many people have made Shawn tap because during his heyday there weren't many in the WWF that utilized submission holds but rather power moves. The only top guys that used a submission finisher during that time were Bret, Owen, Flair, and Luger.

I gotta believe Nash was a tap-out machine during his early WCW days when he was pitted against someone like Luger or Sting.

Shawn tapped to Shamrock on many occassions, but Shamrock never beat him by tap out.

Nash Prolly tapped to Sting iN WCW

He did at Road Wild '96 on the outside.

Nash powerbombs Midajah. Flair decks the referee. Nash tries to pull Flair in but BPP low blows Nash. BPP hits Nash with brass nuckles and then with a chair. A second referee comes out. BPP puts Nash in the steiner recliner for the submission. Nash's career is over.

Nash also tapped to Steiner at superbrawl 2001 ...got this form Lords of Pain

Speaking of Nash selling. For those that bitched about RVD's selling against HHH a few weeks, take a look at Nash's match against Jericho last night. At least RVD sold the leg, I'll admit it was spotty but, at least he sold it. Nash didn't even make an effort to sell the leg. Nash just got up and walked as if nothing happened.

Its rare about certain top wrestling superstars, when you think about it, when it comes down to losing matches by submission by actually tapping out. Despite how "painful" it might be to be in that movie, it would only hurt more if you gave up by tapping. Big name people prefer to lose by "passing out" anyway.

I'm very sure I might be wrong about what I type below this, but if you can correct me that would appreciative since most of my wrestling memory is glitchy.

Kevin Nash being either Diesel or Nash has never lost a match through submission by tapping out. He did lose a match to Scott Steiner at WCW Superbrawl Revenge through submission, but he "passed out" instead.

These people below lost by tapping out.

HBK, as far as I know, has only lost twice in his singles careers through submissions by actually tapping out to Bret Hart and Chris Jericho.

Bret Hart has lost once to tapping out to Lex Luger on Nitro for the US title in 1998. I think that was his only tapping out loss.

The Rock only lost once by tapping out to Ken Shamrock at KOTR 98. Yeah, I know he lost to Ken by the Ankle Lock at RR and WM, but those decisions got reversed so they don't count, right?

Stone Cold Steve Austin only lost once by tapping to Kurt Angle at Unforgiven.

and Hulk Hogan has only lost once by tapping to Kurt Angle at the last KOTR.

EDIT: I don't think Nash ever lost a match by tapping out. The match with Steiner was a pass out.

You have to understand, wrestlers are totally different as faces and heels by WWE "tap out" logic.

Kurt Angle was the first man to make Hogan tap out because Heel Hogan is a coward and natrually would tap out to Rock's sharpshooter (or Luger's torture rack). Same for Michaels with BRet.

Hogan submitted to Luger at Bash At The Beach one year. Bret also tapped to Luger on PPV I believe.

Posted

Oops, nevermind about Hogan, he lost twice by tapping. I forgot he lost to Luger on that one match on Nitro (and the title too, right?) by giving up.

Posted

Stone Cold Steve Austin actually tapped out in a match that I doubt many people have seen. It was against Bret Hart and it was in Kuwait, I believe a bit after WM12 before Bret went on vacation. It's on Coliseum's World Tour 96 tape.
