Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 30, 2003 This girl that I am friends with was talking with me on the phone and mentioned that her brother put her computer together and got her the arcade version of pac-man and a few other games on it. She was all excited and I was all yeah, emulation, blah, blah, blah. So yesterday, I'm over her house and look to see what all games she has on her computer. 3 FUCKING GIGS WORTH OF MAIME ROMS. THOUSANDS OF GAMES. THOUSANDS. I immediately took some CDR's and copied every fucking thing she had. I honestly can't think of a game I don't have on there now. I am in awe...I am also losing sleep due to the pure joy of being able to play them all. oh...yeah.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 30, 2003 If I had a fucking clue how to use MAME, I'd be all over that.
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Down, i think the mame.dk has a tutorial about how to use all that stuff, if you'd be interested in it.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 30, 2003 Down, i think the mame.dk has a tutorial about how to use all that stuff, if you'd be interested in it. Thanks, but I downloaded it and am to the best of my knowledge doing what the FAQs say to do, but no luck. I've tried for years to get MAME to work, and have never been succesfull. The only way I'll ever get it done is when someone walks me through it step by step, heh.

It's a lot simpler than screwing around with MAME at a DOS prompt.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Easier by far to use the windows frontend. Everything is set up for easy use. Ripper - Just how many ROMs do you have now?
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I found Turbo MAME, but how do I configure my Thrustmaster controller to be used with it?
Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Nevermind, I download another one and it's working now. Sweet God, I've been trying for so long to get this to work, thank you so much. Now, tell me some great ass games to download. So far I have The Simpsons, WrestleFest, and X-Men. Bring them on!
Guest Sakura Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Actual arcade machines > mame.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 For those who can afford them, Sakura-chan. Downhome, if you;re still around when I get home, I'll IM you on AIM. I can at least get you started
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 31, 2003 3,105 games in all. Yeah, there are alot of the vector games and really old arcade games. But shit...3000 games. And all the girl plays is Pac-man and Mrs. Pac-man.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Actual arcade machines > mame. Well, duh. But, given that it's a FREE (after paying for 'net access) alternative, you can't complain too much about mame, no?
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Actual arcade machines > mame. Well, I enjoy it on the computer more honestly. Mine Computer is hooked up to the 36 inch television making big screen action just plain fun. I mean where else could you play Street Fighter 2 the movie on a 36 inch screen...where I ask ya...where. Guest razazteca Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I always liked the 1942 -1945 shooter games by Capcom, 194X and Raiden Fighter were great.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Its cool playing games I used to be the shit at and now just plain sucking at them. I still can't get past the first stage of fucking Renegade now. I used to OWN that game. Now the first dude beats the shit out of me.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Its all about getting used to the controller when you were used to the arcade machine setup.... Though I have no trouble with Street Fighter, as I became much better playing Sagat on the Genesis, and the Sidewinder pad is almost identical to it. I get my ass kicked on Double Dribble regularly, and I retired from that game after scoring 100 points on a single quarter.... playing Star Castle is a bit of a nightmare, as is Omega Race. hmm... I think I only have like 1800 Roms myself... care to do an AIM download? Please?
Guest Sakura Report post Posted August 1, 2003 (edited) I mean where else could you play Street Fighter 2 the movie on a 36 inch screen...where I ask ya...where. One of my cabinets has a 33 inch moniter. A big hoss arcade machine is cooler than a big tv. What IS cool about MAME is the ability to easily play old and outdated revisions of games. Especially Mortal Kombat. There's not many MK3 Rev 2.0 boards anymore so it's fun to mess around with it. Edited August 1, 2003 by Sakura
Guest Special K Report post Posted August 1, 2003 Downhome, if Mame is giving you shit, try WinKawaks, it's self-explanatory with a nice user interface. You can play Neo-Geo and Capcom games on it essentially. Alien Vs. Prfedator, Punisher and Marvel versus Capcom; Motherfucker!
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 Where would you get that?
Guest LJSexay Report post Posted August 2, 2003 where can we get some good MAME roms? I REALLY wanna play some of the Street Fighter games. *
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2003 Actually, all ROMs are not legal, and so, it is not a better alternative. Second, if you have over 3000 roms some of them ARE illegal. There are only about 1,500 legal ROMs on the net....and they are classic REAL old-school(OLD)games. So Xmen, and WrestleFest are Illegal. I couldn't give a shit if you do illegal stuff or not, just thought I would warn ya.
