PROMO: Acrophobia

Been a while since I did one of these so if it's a little off or something, I've got an excuse! I was with the old WF and now trying to come back.

The camera man focuses on a wall thiry feet opposite from him. He zooms out slowly and it is seen that this is the hallway of a hotel. Suddenly, an Asian man appears, dressed in Armani head to toe, as he enters from the right of that long hallway. He pauses, makes a ninty degree turn to his left and smiles at the camera. He talks as he makes his way closer and closer to the viewers.

 

"Everybody has at least one. Some deny that they have it at all. But I know, for a fact that I am the person to bring it out. You see, people have said that the way to overcome your fears is to face them. I want to help people do just that. That's all I want to do. I just wanna help. Let Xcalibur help."

 

Xcalibur walks a few more feet and now he is but one or two feet away from the camera. He turns his head to the left, staring at the number 1313. After taking out his keys, he uses them to open the door. There's a woman staring out to the balcony from the bed. She's very pretty, but dressed in a way that would present her self as a lady of the evening. She quickly turns around.

 

"It's about damn time!" she yells out. "And what the hell is that camera for? Oh my God, are you a cop? I knew it--"

 

Xcalibur gives a chuckle. "Heh. I'm not a cop. You don't have to be afraid."

 

She replies, "Well, no pictures, ok? And let's hurry this up. Remember, it's 25 dollars for a blow--"

 

"I know. But look, I don't want sex."

 

"Then why the hell did you tell me to come here for?"

 

"I just wanna talk." She looks confused. "When I came in, you were staring out there, weren't you?" Xcalibur points out to the balcony, overlooking the city landscape. "Why don't we step out to that balcony and just gaze at all the city life and talk?"

 

Don't let him fool you. Xcalibur knows exactly what he's doing. She doesn't know it yet, but he knows all about her.

 

"That's um...nice of you but I'm kind of scared of heights. I'd rather enjoy it from the bed."

 

"I see." He turns his head and smiles at the camera while the woman looks on ahead. He starts to sit down next to her. "See, I'm a motivational speaker of sorts."

 

"Really?"

 

"Pays real good money. How do you think I got this suit?" They both laugh, she does nervously. "I tell you what. I am going to help you face your fears."

 

"No, thanks. I think I'd better go--"

 

He stops her by touching her hand. This soothes her a bit. He takes her hand as he lifts up from the bed. "Just be calm about it." They walk together to the balcony, Xcalibur's hands on her hand and back. Slowly, but surely they reach their destination. He eyes her up and down while her eyes are closed.

 

"Open your eyes. It's perfectly safe."

 

"I don't think I can. It's too high up."

 

"Well, just look up instead of down, that will calm your nerves." She slowly tilts her head back and looks up at the sky. Unfortunately, the light pollution has dissipated all the natural light, except for a full moon overhead. She'd rather watch the still light from the heavens above than the moving ones down below.

 

"Now, look down. Nothing is going to happen. I'm here."

 

Nervously, she looks at Xcalibur. She belives his word. He has made her feel safe these past few minutes, more so than any other man before. She takes one gulp and looks straight ahead. With one deep breath, she takes a second's worth notice of the streets below her and quickly turns away. Xcalibur is there to console her, grabbing her and hugging her.

 

He says, "Aw...come on. That didn't count. You have to see everything down there. Not just a glimpse, but the whole world from the top. That's the fun part."

 

"I can't. I'm too scared."

 

Xcalibur hugs her even more tightly. "Don't be scared. Like I said, I'm here. Trust me."

 

She moves her head away from his chest and looks up at his face. She believes that he's doing it for her own good. They kiss, but Xcalibur, however, is unfazed as he pulls away. His expression turns from sweet and sincere, to angry and menacing.

 

"How dare you."

 

She takes a step back, surprised. "What?"

 

"I tell you to meet me here at this hotel because I wanted to talk. I told you that. I saw you in the street. You seemed lost and afraid. Of this world. This is the first step to becoming a saved human being. I don't want to be in a relationship now, ok? I just lost my wife and you wanna make a move on me? I don't need a diseased ridden skank kissing me. How sick. I just wanted to help you. Now, look down and face your fear of heights."

 

She looks crushed. "I don't need to take this," she says softly. She starts to storm out, but Xcalibur grabs her by the arm.

 

Xcalibur sighs. "I told you to face your fears. I just want to help. It's what I do! ...What? You don't think I can help? You don't think I can cure you? You're saying I'm worthless? Well...I will prove you wrong, Jaimie!"

 

She stops. Her eyes widen. "How do you know my name?"

 

Xcalibur doesn't answer and takes the woman and almosts throws her from the railing! He holds her by the waist and legs, suspending and stopping her from plunging to her death. She screams deafeningly. She's trying to hold on to something, but there's is nothing but the outside wall. Her yells are louder and louder. Apologies are no use. The cameraman shakes. He pleads Xcalibur to let her go. Onlookers are watching from across the street, pointing. Xcalibur just yells, "Stop yelling!!! Quit it!!! I'm only trying to help!!! I'm releasing your fears for you! It's what I do!"

 

The cameraman has had enough and sets the camera down as he goes and tries to help the woman up. But Xcalibur, while holding on, just kicks him in the head. He falls down, unconcious and his head in the shot of the camera on the floor. Suddenly, the screaming stops.

 

Three minutes later...the cameraman gets up. He realizes what's going on and grabs the camera. He fears the worst and shoots the streets. No bodies. Soft crying is heard. The camera pans around. The woman is in a fetus like position with some crumpled money around her, thrown from Xcalibur of course. The camera pans now to the streets. He's there. It zooms in and focuses on Xcalibur. Strangely, he's walking in the middle of the streets, on his left, cars zipping towards him, on his right, he wouldn't know what's coming. Those same onlookers and tourists watch on and takes pictures. Xcalibur however, is just walking, head up high, unafraid of death just a foot to the left or a foot to the right.

 

But, he stops. Cocks his head upward and looks back to that balcony. He sees the camera, takes his hand out of his pocket, waves, and smiles. He mouths the words, "Revenge is sweet."

 

The camera turns left to a movie theatre. It zooms into the words above an upcoming movie: COMING SOON

THAT WAS SO COOL!

 

Your character is scary, fucking scary. I loving this gimmick so far, and the imagery of Xcalibur walking on the streets, unphased and unafraid of death is POWERFUL. I look forward to seeing more of this character and your work. Keep it up.

AWESOME PROMO..only tiny thing I didn't like was his mouth "Revenge is sweet"..would've felt more powerful personally if he just smiled and waved but awesome otherwise, can't wait to see more
