Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I'm looking at getting a MiniDiscMan for myself but obviously I'm looking to see if anyone owns one and can give some constructive feedback about them. Being the cheap bastard that I am I'm looking at purchasing one through eBay but if you know a place where I can get a non-refurb at reasonable prices I wouldn't mind hearing about it. Thanks!! The Dames 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 A friend of mine has one...but with CD burners and MP3 players everywhere, why do you want one? Dames
Guest eiker_ir Report post Posted August 1, 2003 i had one and it was pretty good, but i sold it and got one of those Discmans that reads CDs with MP3s. Much better since you can have hundreds of songs in a single disc.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I have a Nomad Jukebox 2 which has a 10 Gig Hard Drive and I have about 50 albums and rougly 1500 songs with me at all times. Dames
Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 1, 2003 A friend of mine has one...but with CD burners and MP3 players everywhere, why do you want one? Dames Well, I've got the Portable CD player (no mp3 reader though), but since I travel a lot (and almost always take everything as carry-on), I'd like to have something smaller in my backpack. MP3 players are still pretty pricey and MiniDiscs can hold mp3s and are a bit cheaper so I've been looking at them as a potential purchase. I looked at the Nomad but again it's an issue of size there.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 But you get SO MUCH MORE for your money! A couple of years ago, a Sony CD Discman with AM/FM radio was about 120. Now, an mp3 player that holds 4 THOUSAND songs is 200. That's just a steal. Dames

Dames I absolutely agree with you. But it's all about trying to save some space. Otherwise, I'd lug around my company's laptop everywhere, know what I mean? Guest Spicy McHaggis Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I love my MD player. Get the Sony. It comes with a program called OpenMG Jukebox that lets you copy CD's (whatever tracks you want) and transfer them to the MD. It manages mp3's and transfers to the MD. You can have anywhere from 80 minutes (songs of the best quality) to 3 hours to 5 hours on 1 disc. And you honestly have to try to notice the difference in quality. MD's that I get come in packages of 4 for $8. That's two bucks for about 50 songs, 5 hours of music. The size is great. Easy to use. I use it all the time commuting to and from SC. Garth 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I've got an MD player as well, i love it. So much easier to carry round than a cd player due to the size of the player and the cd's themselves. Also i've used an MP3 player before but just didn't like it for some reason, i'd take my trusty old MD player over an MP3 player at this point, but there really isn't a reason why. I guess its just personal preferance.
