Silent Hill 3

I've already got it preordered. You get the game and a cool soundtrack with it. I loved the first two, and I think it's genuinely one of the scariest series out there.

The first Silent Hill scared the crap out of me because it was all psychological. Resident Evil games don't scare me at all because I'm just not that big on Zombie horror.

 

But Silent Hill was all about the unseen and the little noises.

I keep meaning to play Silent Hill 2. I've had it a while and got bored with it. I want to try it again though and see the storyline through

I liked the original Silent Hill, but Silent Hill 2 just didn't do it for me. Sure the graphics were much better, but the story line was lame and on of my main criticisms for both games is that you have to do everything correctly, or you end up getting a lame ending, and hence having to replay the game numerous times in order to get the "best ending" which wasn't that great to begin with. I also didn't like how the second one never gives you any real explanation to why the town is messed up like it is. In the first one it was because a group of withces were trying to open a portal to hell (or how I interepreted it). In the second one, I had no idea what was really going on or why the game was happening.

The original Silent Hill had me pissing my pants. And it took me forever to finish because whenever I killed something I had to smack it's corpse with a pipe for 20 minutes.

Just got SH 3 today. Amazing, and I mean amazing, graphics. The level of detail is astounding. It's cool to look at, well, while you're running away from mummy dogs. Haven't had a lot of scary moments yet (It's early in the game) but you gotta rent this thing just for the dead bunny mascots in the first level.

Great story.

 

It was also a pretty meaty game...whereas I hear that Silent Hill 3 only takes 4 hours to beat the first time through.

SH1 was by far the scariest game I've ever played. I'll give ED credit though, it is way more thought out and much deeper gameplay-wise. I hope they make an ED2, since the first was one of Gamecube's best games.

SH3 = way to short. WAY too short.

 

And it's not like it couldn't have been longer. This story could have been fleshed out a helluva lot deeper.

 

Still a good game, though. Still scary as hell. Just coulda been a whole lot better.

I don't recomend playing this game at 1:30 in the morning while suffering insomnia. I think I was flinching at shadows all day.

I remember my roommates and I stayed up all night playing the original Silent Hill. One of my roommates had his laptop out and was looking up maps though, but we figured all the puzzles out on our own!
