Ultimates

Recommended Posts

Newsarama posted the news bits from the Ultimates panel @ Wizard World. You could read it here http://newsarama.com/forums/showthread.php...=&threadid=5051. Or you could enjoy m spin on the news.

* Ultimate Fantastic Four will be by Brian Bendis, , Mark Millar and Adam Kubert. That creative team shouldn't suck. I'll read that one since the regular Fantastic Four will be flushed down the toilet now that Mark Waid isn't writing anymore. David Mack is the next writer on Ultimate X-Men.

* Bendis and Mark Bagley want to stay on Ultimate Spidey for a long time. That's good. It's propably the best book I don't read or care about.

* Joe Quesada was happy with the 6 page Ult. Six prologue he did for Wizard #0. He says there will be more like that from him in the future. Apparently he can run Marvel and still put out more material than Brian Hitch can.

* Ultimate Adventures, another crappy title, has issues #5 and #6 on the way. Yawn.

* Ultimate Spidey will get his own version of Carnage, Black Cat is coming to fight with Elektra, and Spidey deals with being the victim of a movie about him with out his permission/consent.

* Direct quote since I can't figure out how to do it better:

In speaking of the Ultimate Carnage, Bendis said that the story will be related to Venom’s as well as the responsible use of DNA and genetic research. The writer said he ahd recently read a book by James Watson, one of the two scientists who discovered the form and structure of DNA, about the responsible use of the knowledge and power we now possess over life. “Carnage was on page 4,” Bendis said. “Everything he says don’t do with DNA, we’re doing.”

* Mark Millar says that the Ultimate War fits in Ultimates continuity after issue #13. He also says that Bryan Hitch is drawing like 5+ pages a week. And they are still late/behind. Great artist, terrible work rate.

* Millar also said that he tries to stay at least one issue ahead of Hitch so Ultimates has timely references. Maybe he's the reason why that title is so far behind and not Hitch...

* Quesada said that their may be more than just Ultimate Fan. 4 as part of the expansion of the Ultimate line.

* Bendis and Millar will co-write UF4, since their writing styles are different.

*Kubert will do at least the first full story arc of UF4. It will be inked by Danny Mikki and Dave Stewart will color. Their origin will be made more contemporary. As long as they're still the same characters, but more better. And we will have ultimate Dr. Doom

* December will be “Ultimate Starts” month: UF4 #1, Ultimates Volume 2 #1, and new related story arcs in Ult. Spidey and Ult. X-Men.

* The second volume of Ultimates is more sequal like, they said. There will be some one issue stories. So we don't have endings that span months *cough*Hitchisaslowartist*cough*

* Ultimates USA gets a rival Ultimates super power. We may see Ultimate Cap. Britain. Now that is an obscure character that deserves to get a second chance at greatness in Ultimates form.

* Hank Pym will try to get back on the Ultimates' good sides, but winds up going to an Ultimates version of the Defenders but more pathetic. While this could be cool, I think it sucks because I hate the thought that the Ultimateverse will be so bogged down with characters like the Marvelverse.

* Quesada feels that the Ultimateverse should be slowly developed. That goes back to my earlier point about why I think It is better.

* Mack's run on Ultimate X-Men will bring us the New Mutants and Wolverine's wife.

* Millar said that the brain tumor that was supposed to kill Ultimate Iron Man has been forgotten. Apparently he has decided that he can apply WWE continuity to the Ultimateverse.

*Ultimates Volume 1 and Ultimate Spider-Man (with 35 pages of extras) will be published in hardcover form.

* There are talks about an ongoing Ultimate Daredevil series. Salvador Larocca is not working on it. I though the mini series was very well done, very different but still Miller-esque.

* Millar and Hitch will be around for at least 2-3 years, and Millar will do his first Marvelverse story in that period. That sounds pretty good to me

* The Ultimate Sandman will debut in Ultimate Spider-Man #46. Starvenger will be happy.

---------

That's basically the whole thing in a nutshell. If you like the "Steviekick-ed" version of the article, or you think it sucked, just tell me. If you all hate it, I'll just post the original text. If you enjoyed it, than I will post it this way. I apologize for any and all type-o's.

And yes, I love Hitch's work, but it annoys me that Ultimates takes forever.

Yeah, one is a professional and the other one is one lazy and HATES superheroes but still write superhero books... you guess who's who.

Well, looking at the history, Millar is lazy, Adam is lazy, Bendis has too many books. UF4's future dont look good.

Guest Joe

Bendis is doing a lot of books, but the thing is every book he writes is great...Ultimate Spider-Man is great, Alias is great, his run on Ultimate X-Men (while only 2 issues old) is great...His run on Daredevil has been great (ends with #50, coming out this month)...Bendis delivers whenever involved...

Mark Millar, on the other hand, is a writer who I almost always try to stay away from...He has a lot of good ideas, but his story telling is horrible...He rushes through things way too quickly and doesn't allow stories to fully developed...His run on Ultimate X-Men was a great example of this (I was ready to give up the title but kept buying when Bendis took over) as is Superman: Red Son, which had some really great plot ideas, but was just far too jumbled and fast paced for the story to work...

Definetly sounds interesting. I do love Waid's run on FF and am sad to see it end, so I'll defnietly check it out, even though I'm not a huge fan of Mark Millar

:headbang: Ultimate Spidey kicks ass, and honestly is the only Ultimate book I really care about. And Mark Bagley has been my favorite Spider artist for a long time, ever since his legendary run on Amazing Spider-Man, through the good and the crap of the era.

* Ultimate Spidey will get his own version of Carnage, Black Cat is coming to fight with Elektra, and Spidey deals with being the victim of a movie about him with out his permission/consent.

LOL at that last one... that should definetly be fun. Bring it on!
