Vince McMahon a greedy CEO

Recommended Posts

USA Today published a story today on greedy CEOs who take enormous compensation packages despite the performance of their companies sagging and the oblivious boards who allow it to happen. The article said:

"Shares of the pro wrestling marketer tumbled 37% to $9.08. But Chairman Vince McMahon's salary rose 8.5% to $1.1 million, and he received $850,000 for "talent fees" that the company says include personal appearances and developing plot lines for shows."

The story did not add that McMahon is taking a whopping $8,764,833 in stock dividends this coming year, all while wrestlers are being encouraged to share hotel rooms and rental cars and stay at budget hotels and drive smaller cars to cut back on expenses to make ends meet during these tough economic times for WWE business.

I think this is a serious issue as wrestlers morale is directly related to how much money they're making and how much time they're getting on television. Seeing the McMahons taking up most of the TV time and Money could really piss some people off.

I wonder how many current WWe wrestlers would jump ship even if it meant a little LESS pay if there was still a strong #2 wrestling promotion around??

I would bet there would be several who would.

Vince took care of that for the time being by finishing off wCw. I'm sure plenty of guys like RVD would jump ship though.

A LOT of mid-card guys never seem to get on PPV's or have a chance to get "upper card" salaries so I would think several of the talent would be getting sick of the sports entertainment variety show and jump at a chance to go to a "wrestling based" promotion that made money if there was still one around.

There's that key word "IF" again.

I wonder how happy a lot of the talent is with Vince??

It's not like Vince is putting a lot of time and effort in some of these guys to get them over or giving them a good push.

If there was a strong # 2 promotion out there I think quite a few would be ready to get out of the WWE circus. But we will never know because the chances of a strong #2 coming along anytime soon is just about ZERO.

Yeah, I mean, Nash and Hall were HUGE losses, weren't they? Kevin "Lowest Drawing Champion in History" Nash, Scott "insert witty line about him being drunk" Hall...

It wasn't that big of a stretch to have some of HHH's buddies come back, especially if they came with Hogan.

If you take a look around, you'll find very few wrestlers bad mouth Vince simply because there is always the chance that they could work for him again.

Fuck Vince. He's greedy? Gee, i didn't fucking notice.

The union is a good idea, although it's not gelled in the past. If Vince fires wrestlers for wanting to start a union, isn't that like a big fucking wrongful termination suit? I would think if that occured, the wrestlers in question could have Vince over a barrel by leaking certain issues (steroid distribution, for one) to the press or feds. But keep in mind, i know not what i speak.
