Guest JMA Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Did anyone else see this match? It was surprisingly good (especially considering Test was in it). It had plenty of false finishes and the crowd actually seemed into it. I also thought Al Snow did a good job putting over Test. Coach made a remark about Test not earning his victory to which Snow replied, "No, he earned every bit of that victory." Anyway, I enjoyed the match. What did everyone else think of it? JHawk 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 It actually kept my interest, which makes it better than every Test match since SummerSlam 99 by default.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 They seem to be doing that with Test lately. Last week, he had a similar match with Tommy Dreamer. It was pretty good for a Heat match and kept my interest better than a lot of Raw matches lately.
Guest Random Hero Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Yeah, I caught the last half of it. The crowd were totally into it and bought a couple of the false finishes. Even I thought Val was gonna win when he went for the second money shot, despite already having read that Test won from the spoilers.
Guest Ray Report post Posted August 18, 2003 It was indeed a surprisingly good match. As I said, it had a nice wristlock/nip-up sequence at the start (the kind of thing you'd expect from Liger!), well executed power moves, good build, near falls, hot crowd. They worked a smart match without lots of crap. I was really surprised by this. Val needs a push!
Guest Chris2K Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Val's always had the basic wrestling ability to be a big player. The problem is that he's had the pathetic Val Venis gimmick for 4 years, and people are understandably sick and tired of it. He should have been given a singles push as a heel when he was known as Sean Morley. The guy cut some cool heel promos as the Chief of Staff.
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Val needs a push! No, no. Sean Morley needs a push. The name 'Val Venis', along with his ring attire, just has a general stigma attached it to it from years as a JTTS. The inneuendo shit does nothing for him, so if they want to do something with him, the first thing that needs to happen is the dropping of the VV gimmick. Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted August 18, 2003 As I said in the thread I started a few days ago WWE is really dropping the ball with Sean Morley. If they would have been building him up over the past couple of years he would be a big time main event guy by now. He has the talent and the look, it's just a shame the WWE doesn't see this. Guest JMA Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Glad to see we all pretty much agree it was a good match. I really liked the way Val made the first Money Shot spot look credible by dropping a few elbows on Test first. That was a nice touch.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I didn't see the match. However, I'm sure if Jag0 did he'll be glad to use this as ammo for his Morely markdom. So...just how is it possible to have a good match with Test that isn't a gimmick match, or a tag match with him standing on the apron for most of the time? Humor me. The Chief Morley character could have gone so many ways... He gets "fired" from that position by Austin, but he wants to prove that he can wrestle.....there's a storyline right there. Guest JMA Report post Posted August 19, 2003 Well, whatever the reason, Test had a good match. Maybe Canadians work better together or something.
Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted August 19, 2003 Basic Heat match with one exception, they actually incorporated a moveset in there. Amazing what those things can do for a guy....*hands out superkick finishers*
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2003 Val and Test, even though I personally don't like either of them, I'll admit they put on good matches. They had a good match at the house show I went to back in June. Believe me I was shocked and was certainly better than any Test/Steiner match I ever saw. Maybe it just depends on who Test is against. *Wrestling style theories are more than welcome to added...
Guest JMA Report post Posted August 19, 2003 Like I said, Canadian wrestlers seem to work better with each other.
