Dimmu Borgir - Death Cult Armageddon

Recommended Posts

The new Dimmu Borgir absolutely shreds it.

With that said, its not as good as Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, their previous CD. However, this may grow on me with repeated listens.

Favorite tracks:

"Progenies of the Great Apocalypse"

"Eradication Instincts Defined"

"Unorthodox Manifesto"

Yeah, so I'm not that good at CD reviews. I just tell you if I like it or not. Huzzah!

Gotta love Angry fuckers with a Thesaurus

This time they're not so much angry as they are completely theatrical. Some of the songs sound like a movie score.

Cradle of Filth, now that's a band you need an encyclopaedia, thesaurus, and dictionary to read their lyrics.

I like simple metal where they lyrics are simple

"Never Again Will I fucking let you run me...FUCK YOU! I am your daddy!" it's simple and effective.

I like even simpler metal, like SOD's "The Ballad of Jimi Hendrix".

Lyrics:

"He's dead."

I saw Dimmu live in the spring of 2001. They were terrible. Really goofy. Someone said something to the singer in Spanish, and he said in his scary/girly voice "I am Norwegian...not Spanish you fucking idiot" over the mic. That was the high point of their performance.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of concerts.

I'm all about the studio recordings.

I think I equally enjoy concerts as much as I do albums. The only problem is that sometimes you find out how much a band sucks when they play live, and how good their producers were to protect them o n the recording.

Yes...Dimmu does suck the big one live.

Plus Cryptopsy opened for them, and completly owned balls.

This statement is completely correct.

I'm not big on Dimmu in the first place, but to hear that this album is totally theatrical saddens me. I might give it a listen, but there's no way I'm buying it, unless it's somehow mindblowing.

Cryptopsy is usually a good listen, but I can't get to into them.

Cryptopsy is almost the heaviest thing in the universe. Flo Mounier can blast beat the enamel off of teeth, and is ALWAYS beating on something back there. The best drummer in metal.

It's not. I am terribly dissapointed with this release. They replaced any savagery they had on the previous release with more synth. I guess Galder used up all his riffs writing the new Old Man's Child cd. The whole things sounds uninspired to me i guess.

I hear he's releasing, or already has, an instructional video. My drumming bible has arrived, oh yes it has.

I predict that thing will make no sense, and will increase your chances of carpal tunnel syndrome by 70%.

Well fuck.

I got the new Old Man's Child...it was pretty good.
