Once and for all (well, for now)

Every day I see people saying, "Give this guy a push," and "Give that guy a push." Everyone from A-Train to Zach Gowen, Shawn Michaels to Sean Morley. The problem is, you can't push everybody. There are only so many pushes Vince and Co. can give, and the rest of the roster has to be used as jobbers for said pushes or as just midcarders. If not, you get what you have now; even-steven booking where no one ever gains momentum because everyone is "getting a push" and needs wins over each other to sustain that push. So what I'm looking for here is your list of who you think really deserves a serious, top-level push. Give your top five or six people per show. (People who are currently getting a push count as well.) Mine?

RAW

=====

Rob Van Dam = The fans were just waiting for him to become the next breakout superstar in 2001-2002. I think they can get that lightning back in the bottle if they let Rob get a significant winning streak going. And he should be a babyface, by the way. After this Kane business, let RVD go on a tear where he (cleanly) beats RAW's top heels, including Triple H.

Chris Jericho = Either him or HHH should be the champ, and as champ they need to be the top heel on the show. The other one should be a solid No. 2 heel, but they don't have to be aligned with each other. (Why does Vince think all heels have to be "in cahoots?")

Triple H = See above. Oh, and actually acting heelish might help. Not so many "against all odds" wins, no crowd-friendly entrance, and act worried about a contender for once! Maybe he doesn't deserve it so much, but he's going to get pushed no matter what so I had to include him.

Goldberg = Short matches, short matches, short matches.

Randy Orton = Give his character more of an "RNN" and less of a "Triple H" personality and go from there.

Kane = He can be RAW's monster heel, and you don't need him to be in the title picture necessarily, because he's so consumed with his personal issues.

A tag team = Problem is, I don't know who. Just not the Dudleys. Someone new, a babyface team. The show's tag division is sorry and it needs a jump-start. Maybe they can move the Bashams over to RAW, I don't know.

Smackdown

==========

John Cena = Keep him a heel, and let him beat someone significant on PPV cleanly.

Brock = Go back to monster heel Brock, and try to keep Vince away from him.

Eddie Guerrero = The fans want to cheer him, so make him a face who just acts like a heel. Funny how this works, but HHH playing a heel who acts like a face doesn't.

Matt Hardy = I kind of liked him as the big bully-type of the cruiserweight division.

Kurt Angle = He's only the most entertaining guy on the roster.

Chris Benoit = He deserves it after being so good for so long with no World title to show for it. But PLEASE drop the "Toothless Aggression" bit.

As a shareholder, I want people pushed that will draw money. If that be A-Train in a well thought out storyline, then I don't care.

Sean Morley & Shane Helms on Raw. Both with new gimmicks and solo. Helms thrust into IC contention and Morley thrust into World Title contention.

On Smackdown, Kanyon & Rhyno both need to be more involved with the US title. I know that Rhyno is heading in that direction, now if only Benoit & Guerrero moved to the main and Kanyon moved into the US, I'd be happy.

Push:

Chris Jericho: I am blown away at how many men this guy can carry at once.

John Cena: Let's face it, marks are who decide what draws money and what doesn't, and marks like mic skills more than ring skills. Cena doesn't stink up the ring, and is the next Rock mic-wise AFAIC.

TSPWGTT: Because they're just that great.

De-Push:

Fuck Goldberg: What a fucking disaster. This man was wearing out his welcome in WCW and no WWE fan wants to see their favorite guy job to him.

Donkey Kong: To their credit, they're slowly getting there. D.K. has spent too much time in the spotlight now and risks overexposure if not dragged out of the main event scene until SurSer.

I end the brand extension, fire half the roster...then hire Chris Sabin and make Shelton Benjamin a singles wrestler.

I fire Haas...cause he'll just be a reminder that Shelton was once not used to the extent that I will use him.

You could probably accurately predict the other people who I fire and the people who I don't.

I think both teams are overrated. Haas isn't very good and I think AMW suck.

AMW suck?

Check out their matches against XXX and Diamond and Swinger- They've been the highlights of many a TNA show

Orton, A-train, Gowan and Vince all need clean wins over Benoit.

Undertaker should go over Lesnar once real good and then move to Raw, to take over the top babyface role for the "last" time of his career.

Big Show needs a lengthy run as Champion, a long fued putting him over Angle would help that idea.

Too much Cruiserweight action, make Ultimo and Rey a team after one match together on Velocity and push them as Tag Champs for as long as possible, that'll make things a lot easier.

More Billy Gunn, make him McMahons assistant or something....perhaps another gay inuendo role.....

Triple H and Goldberg need to be elevated to god like status and have a 6 month fued for the title, have Trips go face and put them over everyone possible before the final match so it really means something.

Steph and Easy E need an angle that's on both shows, continue from the Halloween make out session and you've got a great way to kill 30 minutes a week, 40 counting Heat and Velocity.

Other than that I say you push an angle in a year where Goldberg tries to break his own record, that's something to do for at least a year, and could help spike house show interest.

Push:

Chris Jericho: Jericho should be the number one heel on Raw. I'd like to see him get a long-run with the World Heavyweight title.

John Cena: Cena has mad mic skills and the right look. But he needs to be put over to move up to the Main Event (Undertaker, I'm looking in YOUR direction).

Rob Van Dam: Give this guy the title already! He would work well as the face to Jericho's heel.

Eddie Guerrero: The total package. Plain and simple. He's great at high-flying, mat wrestling, and talking.

Chris Benoit: It's about time he got called up to the Main Event. He's the best technical wrestler on the roster. He doesn't need a gimmick.

Mark Jindrak and Garrison Cade: This is the new babyface tag-team Raw desparately needs. After La Resistance/Dudley Boyz are finished trading the titles Jindrak and Cade should get a run with them.

Gregory Helms: He needs to drop the super-hero gimmick. He would be a great IC champion.

Matt Hardy: I think Hardy should keep distancing himself away from the Cruiser division. Matt should be wrestling for the US and/or tag titles (with Shannon).

Spanky: Very over as a fun-loving, quirky guy. I think he should be a top contender for the Cruiserweight title.

Ultimo Dragon: Great inside the ring and he plays the masked high-flyer/martial artist thing well. Would do great both as a Cruiser and US title contender. I'd also pair him up with Paul London.

Chavo Guerrero: I'd keep him in a tag team or let him loose in the Cruiser division.

Jamie Noble: I'd drop the trailer trash gimmick and lose Nidia. He should be in the Cruiser division as well.

De-Push:

Triple H: I wouldn't take him out of the Main Event, but I wouldn't push him as the second coming of Flair either.

Billy Gunn: Give it up. He can't get over anymore.

Bradshaw: Stupid, redneck Texans don't draw.

The McMahons: Just keep them off TV, damnit. They're WAY too overexposed.

Big Show: Why is he always shoved down our throats?

Goldberg: No one likes him and he hasn't helped the ratings. He sucks.

Steve Austin: I like Austin, don't get me wrong. But the constant "beer bashes" just get old after awhile.

Kevin Nash: Old, lazy, and a backstage politician. Good for nothing.

These should be the top guys on each show.

RAW

Kane (World Champion): He is pretty much single-handedly carrying this show ratings-wise and is the most talked about thing in WWE since Hogan fought Rock for the first time. Just make him a 97 Austin-style tweener, put the belt on him, and wait for the money to roll in.

HHH: He still has name value, and isn't any worse than most of RAW wrestling-wise. He just needs to be seen as being more vulnerable. Nothing needs to change about HHH other than him needing to lose some.

Chris Jericho: Should be the guy who eventually takes the title from Kane. Best wrestler on RAW by a wide margin.

Lance Storm: Ditch this boring crap, have him pummel Goldust and start pushing the hell out of him. He shouldn't be a tippy top guy right yet, but he could easily be the first person to do something with the IC Title.

After that RAW is pretty slim pickings, although Hurricane should probably get a bigger push. Things are okay when Rock's around, but RAW really suffers when he's not there.

Smackdown:

Pretty much who they are pushing now. The lesser guys don't really need big pushes, they just need more time as opposed to the McMahons.

And you still think they suck after their 4 great matches v. Diamond and Swinger?

And their MOTYC match v. XXX?

I thought their First Year Anniversary Show match was a bit overrated (it was just near fall pop) but to say they suck is a statement I disagree with greatly

Ok, they don't suck. I just don't understand all the praise they get. They are...mediocre.

So we'll just leave it at that. A difference of opinion.
