EricMM 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2003 I just got and watched my first ROH tapes. Wow. Comparing this to Raw or SD! is just... wow. the sheer number of matches per tape, the sheer number of good matches per tape, the sheer talent being shown by the wrestlers... Compared to the 8 minute matches on SD! between Benoit and Guerrero, I'll take Spanky/American Dragon. I don't care how good Benoit/Guerrero are, since they're on WWE, they're fighting an uphill battle to surpass two stars.

Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted August 23, 2003 I've had the same problem in the past when comparing the international wrestling scence to the North American scence. Still, I love to watch wrestling though because of Benoit, Eddy, Angle, TWGTT, Rey, Stratus, Jericho, Edge, Noble, Kidman, Lesnar, Show, Spanky, Tajiri and others. Also, because the WWE is "free" to watch and is a lot more accessable I find myself still watching it.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 23, 2003 ROH is a once a month promotion and if you order the tapes from RF they're way too much and the shipping takes forever... makes it a little easier.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted August 23, 2003 Yeah the price is a real killer. I've been dying to get some ROH tapes but that $20 price tag on VHS keeps me from doing it every time. I mean hell for that price I can stumble over to Wild Brown's page and order a $16 tape with at least 2 different shows on it and get it within 3 or 4 days of placing an order. Not really, their shipping is better than it was in the past. For instance, I got my RoH tapes that I ordered in a week. 20 bucks isn't much when you consider the overall quality of the tapes, and not to mention the fact that you're supporting the promotion when you buy from RF. You think 20 bucks for an ROH show is too much! Come one it's 15 bucks less than a WWE ppv, and most of the time twice as good.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted August 24, 2003 20 bucks for 1 VHS tape? Jesus...thats a little too much to support an Indy fed. 10? Yes. 15? Pushing it, but 20, no thanks.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 I know a place where you can get CZW, RoH, XPW, and other Indepedent federation videos for just $10 each. They are recorded from master copies, but the quality is just as good.

God damn your cheap! If everybody bought ROH tapes the way you, and other people buy them, ROH would be out of buisness, and it will be partly your fault. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 You think that's bad, try watching MMA and then having to watch guys in wrestling perform submissions - even in ROH they do "shoot style" poorly.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 You're right, he wasn't. But then again, guys like Tamura, Takada, Han, etc. were light-years beyond the stuff that Joe, Taker, Low Ki, Dragon, do...
Guest Ray Report post Posted August 24, 2003 The way I see it...... Why spend $20.00 for 6 hours of ROH when I can spend $12.00 for 6 hours of All Japan?

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Well once you get through of all the AJPW, you're gonna have to buy something - and what better something than watching a bunch of guys pretending to be watch you just bought for cheaper...only worse! ...before anyone lynches me, I am just kidding -sorta- I really like ROH but I'm not spending 20 bucks per tape for something I could get (a) for free on-line, (b)at a cheaper price and a quicker speed from my tape guy allan ™ and ( c ) PRIDE on PPV and trade it for an ROH tape (or UWF-I tape). Guest Stevie Franchise Report post Posted August 24, 2003 You're right, he wasn't. But then again, guys like Tamura, Takada, Han, etc. were light-years beyond the stuff that Joe, Taker, Low Ki, Dragon, do... Maybe they were, but Dragon's not a shoot wrestler. He's just wrestles that style when he's in the ring with Joe and Ki. Taker's a shooter?
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 No, but they (Dragon, Taker) try to throw in those elements and it all comes out looking so... fake... at least, once you see it done properly and/or "for real", it looks fake...
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Lemme ask you this...If Taker became a Spokesperson but not a performer for Pride would you have any objections? I was just thinking since he has some clout and he could potentially help out MMA in some ways...
Guest Stevie Franchise Report post Posted August 24, 2003 I've seen UFC and a little bit of Pride, but I can't get into to it,because its not on TV regularly, and even though wrestling fake the storylines is what makes the matches interesting. Not WWE storylines. Is Tito Ortez still UFC champ?
Guest Stevie Franchise Report post Posted August 24, 2003 I'll buy a UFC ppv if it had Tank Abbott vs The Undertaker in a bar room brawl

Of course it does. An armbar (as used occasionally by Taker) will finish an mma fight instantly, but wrestling fans would not buy that as a finish, because unless you know mma, it doesn't look that painful. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Just get your ROH tapes from a tape trader. The price and shipping will be much better. And while I like ROH I don't think they're wrestling's savior. Let's see if they're still around another year or two. They've only been running shows for 18 months. If everyone bought tapes from a tape dealer then they wouldn't be in business. I understand the proce may be a bit high but you're helping an indie promotion, an alternative to WWE survive
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Rob Feinstein is a fuckhead. I don't mind hurting him one bit. I'm all about "support the indies," but fuck RF with a rusty spoon
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Everytime I've talked to Rob Feinstein he did not come off as a fuckhead. By buying ROH tapes from RF Video you're helping the promotion and the workers. Why would you want to hurt a promotion that puts on a high quality product with great wrestlers just because of your thoughts on the owner?
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 I just think their prices are too high, the service is too bad. And he goes after tape traders over "copyright" when he's doing the exact same thing himself. STORYTIME! I personally know a guy (hell I saw him send out the money order) who sent money to RF for 2 tapes. 2 months later they came, one was completly unwatchable, he sent it back for a better copy, and 2 months later they sent him back the same tape he sent them, had the same tear on the lable and everything. He sent it back again and they never sent him back anything and ignored all his e-mails. So. $35 for tapes, let's say another $1 for money order and envelope. $4 to send the tape back, and $4 to send it back again. That's $44 for one tape. And I've heard that's happened to quite a few people.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2003 Yea- Rob is a hypocrite in that area. All my experiences (and my friend- who buys a lot from them) with them have been very positive. While $20 may seem a lot- You get a lot of bang for your buck.
