I grew up on cheesy 80's/Early 90's sitcoms, and Growing Pains was probably my favorite of the bunch. While I liked Full House and Family Matters and all that, I always loved Growing Pains.

The show itself, not just the spinoff, made a lot of thinly vieled jabs at itself. They constantly talked about how "nothing like this would ever happen on TV", and "This ISN'T a TV Show Ben..." They even did that one episode where Ben gets pulled through to the otherside and watched them make a Growing Pains episode. That whole episode was taking shots at themselves.

But that said, I had a huge crush on Tracey Gold, and I thought Kirk Cameron was the coolest guy ever. But Leonardo DiCaprio sucked in his role, and I could have done without Chrissy.

Anyone get the inkling to Watch The Hogan Family (That's what it was called right?)

I remember I always used to joke as a kid if that they were going to call it The Hogan Family they should have had Hulk Hogan be the dad. That would have been so fun. :P

He could teach Jason Bateman had to use roids to get a better body, how to rip off his shirt and how do the legdrop. And hell Mean Gene can do guest spots as the wacky uncle.

I don't recall exactly, but they made snide remarks about "Suits canceling a show...shitty promotion" something like that...

Step by Step started out fantastic.

But when Dana became a whore, Cody left and Balki showed up- ugh.

Fuck Lily as well

I used to like the show, especially Cody, but once I found out that he beat his wife I stopped watching it.

Cody didn’t really beat his wife. She was high on goofballs and decided slapping around the bambinis would be a good way to pass the time. So Sasha stepped in and gave that broad the Broderick and she cried foul. He was proven to be in the right by the court and maintained custody of the children. If you ask me Cody deserves a fucking medal for taking on that hopped up junkie AND eating nothing but peaches for a week. That shit right there takes a real man. That pussy Uncle Frank probably would’ve shit himself if he ever had to face either of those situations. That pussy.

Any mentions on how it was the most blatant ripoff of anything, ever?

I do remember on the last ep the dad made a big deal about selling a car to TV's Ed O'Neil.

Step by Step was better in the later episodes when Al Lambert was sorta cute.

I agree. Christine Lakin got MAD hot in a short time.

You have things mixed up. You are thinking about the show's fourth season premire two-parter, which was the imfamous ghost-mom episode which ended with a network suit coming out and everyone breaking character and stating that the whole thing was a ratings ploy and a bad one at that...

The final episode was more or less one that focused on the whole relationship between Mr Floppy and the dad, as the dad decided to stop drinking and concentrate on his job in order to get the money needed for Tiffany to transfer to Harvard (a running subplot that is dismissed completely off-panel BTW). The result of this was that Mr. Floppy, the stuffed animal that the dad was talking to started dying because the dad stopped paying attention to him and basically became the top car salesman at the dealership he worked at.

In the end he gets the money for Tiffany and decides to revert to his old ways when he realizes that Mr Floppy is his best friend and that his success at work can't replace the hole in his life created when he "killed" the stuffed rabbit by way of ignoring him. He starts drinking and Floppy comes back to life and the show ends with a happy ending...

Al was her name right,

Patrick Duffy being in a top rated show for 20 years (Dallas/step by step) who can match those kind of numbers....
