BoboBrazil 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 This week's edition of Raw did a 4.2 cable rating, with a 7 share. That is up from last week's 4.0. The show did hours of 4.0 and 4.4 and was led by the overrun quarter hour, which did a 4.9. That is good news for WWE. 1wrestling.com

tetsubeav 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 It's all because of Coach. Only reason I tuned in... (seriously too, I hadn't watched in weeks and reading of the SummerSlam turn intrigued me).
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I was guessing 4.3. The reason it went up was because there were actually entertaining segments throughout the night. The opening promo hooked them. Nothing it the first hour was bad enough to tune people out, and then the Highlight Reel segment got them to stay for good. It was a really good show last night. OldSchoolWrestling 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 Geez, by the time this plays out and we are watching Linda crap down Bischoff's throat we'll be in the 5.0 range.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted August 26, 2003 They are so f*cking stupid. In a quest to get ratings, in which a .1 increase aint getting them shit in terms of added revenue, they are building up a feud, KANE vs. SHANE which has ZERO drawing potenial on PPV, which is where they will make their money. This disease has been going since the days of the monday night wars. WCW would give away PPV matches to win the ratings battle, which really didn't accomplish anything except being able to laugh at WWE for being higher. WWE is still fighting this war, and there isn't even a war to fight. niko
Guest JMA Report post Posted August 26, 2003 Does this mean Shane will kill his father next week? Hey, then he can marry his mother! It'd be like Oedipus (with Kane as the Sphinx).
Guest JericholicEdgeHead Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I have to admit I was hoping RAW would have a BAD rating like in the 3.5 range to send Vince a message, but I guess the casual viewers love the soap opera shit. So I guess Vince will see last night's show as a huge success and keep pushing his family and other non wrestlers, because I guess that's REALLY what the fans want. I just can't believe wrestling has evolved into what it is now. Vince must be giddy like a little girl, he seems to have found an audience that will watch no matter how lame their shows are. WWE's catchphrase was "Get It ?" I guess I just don't
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I think the true test is what rating they make next week. I think everyone has been saying the worst part of last night was the end. And since fans are not omnipotent and don't get a little whisper in their ear to turn on Spike Tv because something good is about to happen on RAW, they turn in because of what they WANT to see not because they know what they'll see. If those same people still tune in next week then we'll know they're on to something. Otherwise it's just the Post PPV ratings rise because of things like Coach's heel turn were actually different and made people go "hmmm maybe I need to tune in" Kane has shown that he can pop a nice 4 rating so this really comes as no surprise. The true tale will be what will happen now that it ended the way it did. We should always base it more off the next week's ratings because that's what shows the "results" of what happened on this week's show. That's what shows the people's reactions because it's in these days now that the fans sit back and think, "after all I saw last night do I really wanna bother next week?" LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I wish someone would post where I wouldn't end up posting twice in a row, but if not then please excuse me for that. I'm all for storyline development as long as the storylines are leading to something new, exciting, or productive. And if those storylines make sense. I along with a lot of people said that we loved the development of the Heel Coach storyline so don't say we didn't like anything. And I may be a part of a few, but I like the S.H.I.T. stuff. The rest was either same old or pointless. And one of the storylines I was showing the most interest in (Kane) was shot to hell in one swift move.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted August 26, 2003 Coach and SHIT Rules. Two of the more entertaining things on RAW. Kane = RAWs Savior But of course they fucked it up by burning him in the dumpster. They better have a good excuse of any kind so they don't fuck him over again. That's my theory of why they did this.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I honestly don't understand it. WWE finally finds something good to go with in Kane. They finally make steps to fix the plot holes they made in his story. The reinvent him in ways that work. But then they make him Shane's bitch. Now I could understand if they wanted him to come back from adversity to beat Shane and show that he's an unstoppable monster, but there are other ways they could have done that besides having him cheat death! I can just hear the collective groans and "bullshit" chants from the crowd now when Kane walks out after what happened. Waters: If they put the mask back on now it would probably mess up everything they've done so far with Kane that has worked.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Report post Posted August 26, 2003 I think they'll just explain something like, Kane fell THROUGH it into another building or something.

Guest Super Pissed Smark Report post Posted August 26, 2003 He was burned horribly once and survived, er, I think... damn, was he? I'm pretty sure for the last six years or so that's been the story, but they may have changed it in the last month or two. Anyway, he was burned once (or not), now he's burned twice (or once) and survived. Simple. Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice...

Except after the first time he was burned he didn't show up for YEARS. His burns would have been healed by then. They can't wait for years to blow off this feud.
