Bored 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 That had upset written all over it. Northern Illinois might be the best team in the MAC and they have one of the best backs in the country in Michael Turner.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 If this was in a basketball game in March I would give it the Farooq DAMN. But this is football and it deserves the Nelson laugh Ha Ha. Thats what Maryland gets for trying to schedule an easy win.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 If you saw the game, Maryland deserved to lose, however the refs blew the call on the game ending interception, it should have been pass interference. Like they said on the radio though, you wont get calls like that on the road.
Dr. Tom 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 Thats what Maryland gets for trying to schedule an easy win. Two words: Georgetown basketball.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 A road game against one of the best MAC teams is not trying to get an easy win.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 I chalk it up to them looking ahead to next week. Now they need to beat Florida St or else the season might as well be over in terms of a major bowl..
Bored 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 I chalk it up to them looking ahead to next week. Now they need to beat Florida St or else the season might as well be over in terms of a major bowl.. Well for a BCS bowl yes but since it was a non-conference loss they can still get a "name" bowl game. One thing about scheduling is that it is done about three years in advance and don't know how good or bad Northern Illinois was then. I'm sure NIU wasn't as good as they are now otherwise Maryland probably would have scheduled it as a home game.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 Remember not every team is Kansas St. or Minnesota.
phoenixrising 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2003 NIU is one of the better mid-majors, they're expected to win their division in the MAC and possibly the MAC itself. It's still a shocker though. Maryland didn't have Bruce Perry, who is a big part of their offense. Next week was already a must-win for Maryland, now the FSU game will be even bigger.
