Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 From Joblo... Never... Never in a million years would I have thought that there was even one iota of a chance that I would hear the names Macaulay Culkin and Hannibal Lecter muttered in the same breath. Not unless a bunch of bored film geeks were sitting around discussing what unfortunate fate they would wish upon one immortalized cinematic character (Kevin McCallister) at the hands of another (Hannibal Lecter). And even then... What are the chances, right? According to Hot Dog Magazine (via Bloody-Disgusting), the producers of the Hannibal films (aka Dino De Laurentiis) not only muttered the two names in the same breath, but it was actually in reference to Culkin portraying the infamous cannibal in the upcoming prequel, THE LECTER VARIATION! Yeah, I know! Crazy, right? It seems that someone caught the eldest Culkin's performance - as a successful indie club promoter who loses it and kills his drug dealer and roommate - in PARTY MONSTER, and was so impressed by his rested and matured acting chops that his name was dropped as a possible contender for the role of a young Lecter. It's an interesting rumor, if nothing else. The cannibal's creator, Thomas Harris, is currently hard at work on the story for the prequel, that will purportedly follow a young Hannibal from a pre-teen in Lithuania to a twenty-something psycho in the US. ...those Culkins, they all look evil as sin to me anyway, so we'll have to wait and see. This is an interesting rumor, if nothing more. Am I the only one here who thought Macaulay did an outstanding job in The Good son? Sincerely, ...Downhome... Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 What has Pesci done lately? He's fallen off the face of the Earth... Holy crap, I haven't even realized this! I just looked it up on IMDB to make sure, and I'm shocked. He hasn't been in a film since 1998's Lethal Weapon 4. I mean, holy shit. That's just amazing to me. Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 No, it was a made 4 TV movie that ABC had on in Dec/Jan... French Stewart was in it... I know it's different actors and that it was a TV movie. I was asking if the same characters were in it. I just checked myself, and holy crap. It's the same mom, same dad, and same Kevin. Forget about, if this was reality, that the parents would be locked up. Hell, the "kid" should be (and is) well into his 20's now! Why in the world do they present it as the same characters? Downhome 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 They now call it "The Simpsons" syndrome. For a cartoon I fully understand it, but this? I dunno, it just seems fucked up. Why the hell not just make it a new family? Not only would it make more sense that it's different people, it it would also keep the original family from looking like such a big group of morons. Blue Bacchus 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 The Good Son pwns There was a made for Showtime movie with Sean Austin made about I'd say 6 to 8 years ago. In this flick it takes place in the future where in America the average person has to wear this head gear which makes them docile and extremely stupid. Where I'm going with this is that in the flick Sean and his love interest make reference to King Lear or Hamlet with Culkin playing the lead and being pretty good at it. Kinda funny to see it. Guest Nanks Report post Posted September 3, 2003 I know that movie. Harrison Bergeron. I quite liked it actually. I don't really remember them referring to Macauley Culkin though. That's quite the sharp memory. The movie's actually worth a watch if you haven't seen it though, it's just a made for TV movie but I really enjoyed it.
