The football program's been around for over a century, of course they have

Even if you limit it to the last 5 years, they lost their '99 bowl game to Mississippi State, which was their last loss before kicking off the '00 championship season

Oh....I didn't see that one on the records. My mistake.

Um ya in fact they've lost 12 although almost every major program has lost at least 10. Oklahoma is 21-12-1 overall. Penn State has best record of major programs at 23-11-2, Alabama has the most bowl wins at 29, and Nebraksa and Texas have the most bowl losses at 20.

Oh and yes I looked those up.

Here's a link to Oklahoma bowl history.

Okay, I wasn't looking forward to it at all, but after today, I'm amped for Tennessee/Miami.

1. Georgia losing puts Tennessee right back in the SEC East picture.

2. Miami losing gives Tennessee not one, but two gameplans to study and dissect (the West Virginia game is a good study of how to beat Miami also).

3. Miami will be PISSED from being annhilated and Tennessee will be on a MISSION now that an SEC title is possible again and it's going to be ouchies all around.

The Duke game was purely a looking forward to Miami game. There's really no other explanation for it to be so close for so long. Once the Vols woke up and realized it was fucking DUKE they were in a tight game with, it was over.

Kinda helped that they had all 104, 772 of us booing them off the field at halftime. It was fucking HOMECOMING, man. They really should have killed Duke.

I thought Va Tech got royally screwed after last week. They should, IMO, be in at least the top 6.

Also, Florida State should be near the bottom of the one loss teams.

The Arkansas-Kentucky apparently just finished now at 11AM, Sunday morning, with Arkansas winning by a score of 378-376 in the 51st OT.

Do you realize that last week BGSU vs. N. Illinois was the first meeting between 2 ranked MAC teams in 4 decades (at least that's what I heard somewhere...and it sounds plausible)...

And we were only a few votes away from having it happen TWICE this year?

Miami of Ohio is 26th (in the AP). BGSU is 15th (AP) and 20th (Coachs).

Should be a hell of a game on Tuesday. Miami is very much in the same place that Bowling Green was in last week when N. Illinois came in to town.

Well in the only rankings that count they are both ranked in the Top 20 in the BCS. ESPN2 has picked up the game for national television. Hopefully a couple of at-large births open up in the other bowl games (usually do) so none of the Big Three in the MAC get shut out of a bowl game since the MAC only has two bids.

I dunno...do you reall think Miami will drop THAT far on the BCS?

With a 6th and 7th ranking the voter polls, yes. The projectios out there have them at 5th I think right now which means they'll need a lot of help to get back to #2. In fact Miami is in danger of not even playing in a BCS bowl right because Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh control their own destiny for winning the Big East title and an automatic birth in the BCS and Miami doesn't. Now of course there is the Orange Bowl but they have to take either ACC champ which is going to be Florida St. or the Big East champ and bowls always try to avoid match-ups of teams who already played. Miami doesn't travel well so odds are the Fiesta Bowl wouldn't take them. Now if they finish in the Top 4, which could definently happen, then they would have to be taken by a BCS bowl.

Is it just me, or is Florida State just not looking #3-in-the-country good this year? Top 10 sure, but #3? I'm not so sure...

Well remember....the BCS has a hard on for them.

That'd suck if they ended up getting stomped by OU again....dammit I want OU to win the championship in a close game against a good team!

No its not just you because the ACC is terrible this year and I'd say easily the worst of the BCS conferences this year and that's with the Pac-10 and Big 12 not exactly being good after their top teams.

Oh and to correct something I said earlier the current projection has Miami at #4 in the BCS so that would still put them position to receive an automatic at-large birth.

Florida will beat Florida State en route to a Citrus Bowl game against Michigan or Purdue. That'll put Florida State out of a BCS bowl for sure, and put them into the Gator Bowl or something.

Meanwhile, Tennessee will be in either the Cotton Bowl or the Orange (wherever they put the SEC champ this year since the Sugar is the national title game), dependent on whether Georgia loses again or not. If Tennessee can get on a good roll beating Miami, beating LSU in the SEC title game is not that hard to envision. Then again, that's also being asked to defeat two top 10 teams in about a month.

Actually all Florida State has to do is beat Clemson next week and they clinch the ACC and thus clinch a BCS birth. Remember its the six BCS conference champs and two at-large teams that go into the BCS. You can then pretty much slot them into the Orange Bowl then since they have the choice of the ACC champ or the Big East champ and if its between them and Virginia Tech they'll definently take FSU. I do agree though that I think Florida will beat them.

Blast, I forgot about the conference winners who get BCS bids.

Then they'll get mertilized by whoever they face in the Orange Bowl.

I think Michigan might be Rose Bowl bound after the wins over MSU and Purdue.

And the BCS always has a hard on for certain schools. Remember how obscenely high Notre Dame was last year?

Michigan has the inside track in the Big 10. With games at Northwestern (who is improved) and home against Ohio St.

The question is who might Michigan or the Big 10 champ play?

FSU will not get destroyed by any team in a Bowl. Unless it's Oklahoma or USC. I don't see that happening though.

Well obviously if USC gets upset in one of their last three games it will be the Pac-10 champ but since we all assume they won't be it could be any number of teams. And of course none of us expect Oklahoma to lose the rest of the way and even if they did I don't see the Rose Bowl taking them two years in a row. The Big 12 champion is tied to the Fiesta Bowl so if OU some how lost before the championship game and then won the title game they would end up there. Of course all hell will break loose if OU loses any of their remaning games and who the fuck knows where anyone goes with no undefeated teams.

As I already mentioned Florida St. goes to the Orange Bowl most likely unless Miami wins the Big East, which could still happen, and then they would end up in the Orange Bowl. Now there is Washington St. who if they win out and finish 10-2 would definently eligible for an at-large birth. I being the Rose Bowl purist would hope Wazzu ends up as USC's replacement. Of course they played their last year as the Pac-10 champ and played poorly. Last year the Orange Bowl fucked us Rose Bowl purists over by taking Iowa so ending any chance of a Pac-10/Big Ten match-up. They wouldn't take Miami because when they played there for that farce of a championship game a couple of years ago the stadium was about 80% Nebraska fans as Miami doesn't travel well. I don't see the Rose Bowl taking an east coast team and that would just leave the Big 12 and there is no one in the Big 12 outside of Oklahoma that will be sniffing a BCS bowl this year.

So in the end it will all come down to if they want Washington State and if not then I have no fucking clue. Maybe the SEC champ but man an SEC team in the Rose Bowl? That would be um different.

If it ends up being either Michigan or Ohio St. the opponent won't matter. They'll be able to filll the Rose Bowl quite easily.

Heisman questions. Who should win and who will win?

Should is Larry Fitzgerald, Jr. I don't think he will. He's a receiver, and he's only a Sophmore.

Will: Jason White. QB on the best team, and he's put up the numbers. Keep in eye on Eli Manning though.

I guess Ohio State needs to keep winning, #7 is a joke. I respect Miami & Florida but both FSU and LSU lost at home so I think OSU's loss at Wisconsin is not as bad, but is Ohio State going to be fourth now in the BCS or is Miami still going to be ahead of them?

OSU didn't do themselves any favors by struggling against Penn State. OSU's most likely going to take 1 or 2 losses in the next 3 games. I really doubt they can go into Ann Arbor and beat Michigan with how they've struggled on the road and in general.

Michigan had a wake up call against Minnesota and they've been playing awesome since.

What's funny if Miami, VA Tech, and West Virginia win out, and Pittsburgh loses to both Miami and Va Tech, WEST VIRGINIA will go to a BCS game because Miami/WVU/VA Tech will be tied, and the final tiebreaker is a vote among Big East Athletic Directors, and everyone hates Miami/Va Tech for going to ACC, so they will vote WVU, and WVU will be in BCS game!

I think your thinking of how the SEC might end up having to handle their tiebreak situation but it is not the case in the Big East. In the case of the Big East the highest ranked team in a three-way tie would get the BCS bid which would be Miami.
