Gert T 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 LSU has really impressed me these last two weeks. I just thought that with their tough schedule the last 4 weeks, they would lose, now they are just one game away. And yes TCU sucks.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Kinda interesting bowl news today as Navy (7-4) has accepted a bid to the Houston Bowl. The SEC's bid there was open because they won't have enough bowl eligible teams to fill their slots. That does take away a bid though from better at-large teams in fellow independent Connecticut (9-3) and the MAC's Northern Illinois (10-2) who doesn't a have a bid because they MAC only has two bowl slots. Navy seems like a bit of a politically correct choice to me. Colorado lost today so that does leave a Big 12 slot open in either the Ft. Worth or Tangerine Bowl as long as Texas holds on to win today and pretty much lock up an at-large BCS berth. Oh and a question to the regulars of the topic, I was considering creating a new seperate topic next week for the championship games and the important USC game since I know some of you will be posting a lot during those games. This topic has gotten little over bloated I think and wouldn't hurt to create a new one. If no one has a problem I'll go ahead and do that on Monday or Tuesday. I'll definently create a new topic for the bowl games when they start. So my thread isn't good enough? *Runs away crying* All kidding aside. How much fan support does Navy bring to the game? I like too see the Academies play in bowls, but UCONN and Northern Illinois are more deserving. UConn might be the choice because it's more likely they'd have more people who either graduated or are from Conneticut living in Texas or Florida.

teke184 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Are their any Navy bases around Houston or Texas-Louisiana area? I'm pretty sure there are Navy bases in Texas. As for Louisiana, I don't think so although there are Army bases (Ft. Polk) and Air Force bases (Barksdale AFB). There are a lot of naval contractors in the area though. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 WOW. Just got back from the Virginia/VT game. It was innnnnsane. I can't believe we actually kept Kevin Jones from hurting us too badly, and I can't believe we called that fake field goal. A fake field goal up by touchdown with 5 minutes left, two goal-line touchdowns on fourth and one...the difference in this one was balls. Al Groh called the hardest play every time it mattered and it paid off almost every time. Once it was 28-14, the conservative Tech offense just didn't have enough time to move it down the field. Solid game from both teams, but UVA just gutted it out and made the big plays. Watch the highlights, it's worth it. 35-21, Cavaliers, for the first win over Tech in five years. Now, to gear up for Miami/Pitt tonight...

People run through the office at work talking loudly about the games and what the score is. I tell them I am taping it. They purposely stand by me and talk about the fucking games....assholes.... Slayer 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2003 Personally, if it's two teams I don't care about, it'd better be an exciting good back'n'forth type affair for me to watch. Plus the Bayou classic just isn't the same anymore. Zook doesn't provide near the foil for good'ol'boy Bowden that Spurrier did for all those years. Not sure how it's a race thing, though I'm sure you're joking on that one Now if you were to talk about Grambling vs. Jackson State, that'd be another issue

Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Fucking Georgia Tech, motherfucking losers keeping motherfucking Tennessee out of the motherfucking SEC title game and sending them to the motherfucking Outback Bowl. Fuck. Tennessee sleptwalk through the game with Kentucky. Here's hoping that LSU annhilates Georgia so badly that the bowls look at them as lower than Tennessee... And I only caught the 2nd and end of the 4th quarters of the FSU/Florida game. It's Florida's fault Georgia is going too. And fuck Florida State for starting shit after the game. Fuck. What do they have to do with the Bayou Classic? When did they ever coach in the SWAC? Grambling and Southern put on a hell of a game today! teke184 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 I live in Baton Rouge, home of Southern, and I can safely say that no white people care about the game unless they're related to the players or are scouting them for the NFL. I know the game is a tradition but they might want to consider moving it up before the I-AA playoffs start so they can make money AND send teams to the playoffs in addition to the Heritage Bowl. Lando Griffin 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Isn't it great that we can make anything an issue of race? But, seriously, here's a hypothetical: Are any of the lower bowls considering Notre Dame if they finish 6-6? They don't deserve to go ahead of teams like Northern Illinois and UConn, but they are Notre Dame.

teke184 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Isn't it great that we can make anything an issue of race? I'll clarify my position- 1. Southern and Grambling are both I-AA teams, which means most people don't care about them to begin with. 2. Because of the Bayou Classic, neither is eligible to compete in the I-AA playoffs, which makes it even less interesting unless you want to see the bands play at halftime (they're damn good, too) or have a taste for SWAC football. Southern-Grambling may be a tradition, but so is Navy-Army and I'm not watching THAT fucking game either.

Damn, I'm glad I got Notre Dame-Stanford instead of Miami-Pitt. I guess I have to hope for a Notre Dame blowout so we can get "bonus coverage".

Bored 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 But, seriously, here's a hypothetical: Are any of the lower bowls considering Notre Dame if they finish 6-6? They don't deserve to go ahead of teams like Northern Illinois and UConn, but they are Notre Dame. Notre Dame is up 21-0 at the moment and Stanford doesn't have the offense to come back so they will improve to 5-6. They play at Syracuse next week and if they win there Notre Dame will be bowl eligible. Tieing into that is Kansas today has accepted the bid to the Tangerine Bowl. That means the Ft. Worth Bowl will be an at-large bid available for UConn or Northern Illinois, although I think I read that both might get snubbed for Air Force. If Notre Dame wins next week they could end up swooping in and stealing that at-large bid.
jimmy no nose 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2003 Why don't Pitt throw the ball to Fitzgerald? The ball hasnt even gone in his direction. Most of his big games have been pretty much all one half though, so there's still hope that this game will be tight by the end.
