5_moves_of_doom 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 I don't expect any "oh what a great promo!!!" replies, as this is the simplest of promos. Like, as simple as possible. But I think it gets the job done in letting everyone know TNT's full point of view, and I hope it's not too bad, so someone comment anyway, eh? Smarks Wrestling interview personality, Nervous Sheep (Ben Hardy sadly had to depart from the show a bit early tonight for a YMCA meeting,) stands patiently off to the side of a nondescript door after tonight’s SWF Lockdown show, awaiting whoever to come out of whoever’s locker room, but “whoever’s” secret identity is soon revealed, as the explosive one himself, Taylor Thompson, swings the door open and then shut again, leaving himself, the Sheep, and Gus the cameraman to their own devices out in the deserted hall. TNT is obviously looking to hit the road, dressed in a pair of baggy cargo pants and black C4 (the short-lived SJL superstar… whatever happened to him?) t-shirt, with a sports bag over his shoulder as the finishing touch, but the Sheep is intent on fulfilling his intentions for the night, and he allows no such thing to happen. “Uhm, ehrm, excuse me! Mr. Thompson?? Mr. Thompson sir, may I get a word or two with, uhm… you? Er, please? It’ll only take a moment Mr. Thompson; I’d just like a brief explanation of your quite appalling actions tonight.” Taylor shoots a grim glare at the walking sweater, but then an expression of complete clueless-ness consumes his composure. “…I’m sorry, appalling actions? I don’t remember doing anything appalling tonight… care to explain Lamb Chop?” “Uhm… well, er… uhm…” The Sheep pauses to catch his breath, and then continues. “Well… ehrm… you see… well… uhm…” Pause. Continue. “Er… Well heck Mr. Thompson! You marched right out there in tonight’s Main Event, a very important match-up in our recent World Title Shot tournament, and took Mr. Danny Williams out of the match completely with a half-nelson suplex onto the concrete!” “…Yeah, but you said appalling. What have I done that’s so APPALLING tonight??” Taylor asks curiously, getting in the Sheep’s face (but not too close to it, in fear of drowning in the sheep’s very, VERY existent breakout of sweat. “…Uhm…” “Let me tell you something you little twerp. There was nothing – NOTHING – unreasonable about what I did tonight. I had EVERY reason to do what I did, in fact.” “…el-el-el-“ The Sheep stutters. “…elaborate please, Mr. Thompson. I know that there are uhm… several people backstage who think that… uhm… well… er… mm… you… uhm… didn’t.” “I’m sorry??” TNT suddenly has fire in his eyes, and is channeling it through the tip of his tongue. “Oh. I see. Well, let’s just SEE HERE, Mr. Sheep. First, Danny wants to prove that he can win the World title by getting through me first, and he LOSES. One, two, three. Just like that. But then, when it’s TNT’s time to shine, the stupid fuckin’ doctor takes him out of the ring with some bullshit concussion charge! Even Dr. Nick won’t let me get back in the ring to claim what is rightfully mine! I mean, Strangler’s my buddy, partner, and an excellent champ, but I at least deserve a SHOT! But then, look at this. I don’t even get put in the fucking TOURNAMENT!” Taylor abruptly stops in the middle of his rant – fuming – and takes in a deep breath, before continuing in a much more controlled manner. “Sorry… I’m just a little bit hung up over this… I don’t want to seem like the bad guy here. But I shouldn’t, really, because as I said, my actions were COMPLETELY reasonable. I mean, if Danny can’t beat ME, then why the hell would HE get the Title Shot at Genesis when I’m not even in the tournament?” “But uhm, sir, don’t you think it was a little extreme, what you did? Mr. Williams could very well have another concussion!” “Well all the power to him, Sheep. Tell me, who gave me MY concussion, that kept me out of the tournament in the first place? I could have just entered the tournament, beaten Danny, and then gone on to regain my World Championship, but no. What then? I get sidelined and he gets the shot at the gold? Well hell no to that my friend. I’ve gotten Danny away from the title, and he won’t get near it ever again unless he goes through ME first, understood?” “Does this mean… uhm, another singles match between you two? The last one was great, Mr. Thompson, but are you sure you want to risk losing to a man that you have beaten before just to do it again?” Taylor pauses before answering, as if the answer itself is obvious. ”Sheep, I’ll risk EVERYTHING to put Danny in his place. He may have been my mentor back in the JL, and he may have been bumped up here with me… we may have even been even members of the same stable, but let’s face the facts – I surpassed him, and he needs to just learn how to stay down where his skill level has gotten him – the midcard. I have all the respect in the World for Danny, as long as he stays out of my way and realizes that I’m the better man unless he can prove otherwise. And as for another match…? Well, I should be able to get back in the ring again soon, and I’m sure Danny survived that small sample of what I’m capable of tonight… so… well, when we’re both back in action, we’ll see, but if that midcarder wants me to prove that he’s all talk in the rising-up-the-card compartment AGAIN… then I’m all for it.” Taylor stops, and turns to face the camera, speaking to it as if it were Danny himself in his parting words. “…But Danny… I’d be careful of what you’re getting yourself into… because this time… I’ll make sure that you know your role for the rest of my tenure here in the SWF, and learn to stay away from titles that YOU’RE not worthy of. So look out, because if you insist on getting in my way again… you might just have to watch me explode one… more… time.” And with that, Taylor is gone, leaving the Sheep a stuttering wreck, drowning in a puddle of his own sweat. “…Uhm… er… thank you Mr. Thompson for the interview!” the Sheep yells after the departing dynamite warrior “...Oh gee…” he mutters to himself uncertainly, just as Gus shuts off his camera. TheBostonStrangler 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 It gets its point across, that's for sure. A little bit of a hard sell on TNT's part, but due to the fact that he's not around much, he needs to make each promo count. However, I did really enjoy the promo. 5_moves_of_doom 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2003 Thanks for the comment TBS. I agree that it was a little bit of a hard sell, but as you said, with the amount of promos that I do, I need to make SURE that each one does what it was supposed to do, and I'm glad that this one got its point across. Thanks again.
