Guest Guybrush Threepwood Report post Posted September 12, 2003 Coming to you from Atlanta today for this edition of FROM THE INSIDE with the man that made Milwaukee famous, yours truly... JB. Yes, far be it for me to lift the moniker of the wrestler that inspired me to get into drunken bar fights at the age of 8, but the Crusher was one of a kind. All the wrestlers in the AWA for that matter were the real sports heroes in Minnesota growing up. In fact, I believe the wrestlers were probably over more in the Twin Cities than any other territory in the nation during that time. Want proof? We elected one governor twenty years later, and he was just a good promo guy. I returned last night from my Montana vacation and went directly from the Nashville airport to the studio, and then drove to Atlanta. Why am I here? Well, aside from my mandatory stop at Abdullah's House of Ribs and the obligatory five finger fork lifting from the silverware tray as a tribute to the wildman from Sudan, TNA continues to grow at a rapid pace, and reaching out into new ventures... that is really why I am here… I'm in Atlanta because we are putting together a first in professional wrestling. I'm proud to announce that TNA will be presenting the very first professional wrestling show done in High-Definition television. It will be launching exclusively with iN Demand's new HD channel. The entire night from 8/27 was shot in HD, and to say it looks amazing is a serious understatement. The quality is simply unmatched, far better than even a DVD. More on this next week. The one cent show was a tremendous success for TNA, and ultimately accomplished our goals of getting as many people to view our show as possible. We look at our unconventional approach to television as more of an educational process than anything. Again, just doing the math… and I've said this a thousand times in this article… If you break it down, you are getting eight hours of TNA for roughly the same price as a three hour traditional wrestling PPV. If you have purchased traditional wrestling PPVs in the last year, I firmly believe spending your money with TNA is money much better spent for the wrestling fan. It is that simple. The one cent show was done because we are at a place where the most important thing is to get people to see our show by exposing it to the masses. We've really hit a stride as of late, and really have gone out of our way to make every Wednesday night special. Some questions were raised about the DirecTV show that aired on Wednesday called "The BEST of TNA'S WORLD TITLE MATCHES," and how much of that will end up being like the DVD we will be releasing soon. The DVD will be loaded with extras, and the matches will be left in their entirety, as well as tons of extras. The first DVD offered from TNA will be almost four hours in length. "Together, Tenay and West are the best broadcasting team in sports entertainment, and that really helps TNA." (Todd Martin in a very well written piece on www.wrestlingobserver.com on the one cent show worth checking out). We are thrilled to have the best announce team in the business on TNA… Tenay and West are incredible. Speaking of bad hair… I finally fulfilled a lifelong dream of meeting Don King. He rules for the simple fact his hair and the logo of his company are the same thing. Only in America... What a great lineup for this Wednesday's return to PPV. Let's take a look at what is in store... AJ Styles vs. Jerry Lynn (NWA World Heavyweight Title Match) I gave a circa 1985 Road Warrior pop when I heard we were going to see a rematch of what in my mind was the TNA feud of 2002. Lynn and Styles have always had incredible matches, and it has been a long time since they faced off against one another. I can't wait. AMW vs. 3 Live Kru vs. New Church vs. Kid Kash & Abyss (To determine the #1 contenders for the NWA World Tag Team Titles) This one is a blend of styles, and offers a little bit of everything. If these eight are able to offer their best individual strengths while gelling as a cohesive team, this one should be great. It should be interesting to see who gets the next crack at Simon & Swinger. The Return of Roddy Piper This will be like watching a car crash. I have no idea what to expect from him other than I think more than a few of us will be a bit nervous. Once again, TNA will be giving him a live microphone and just let him do his thing. What will be the reaction from this segment? It all depends on the words that come out of his mouth. After his last appearance in early December, I just don't know if we can expect what that will be. X-Division 6-Man tag There will be several names from the highly acclaimed Super X Cup tourney involved in this one, including the man who many feel was the MVP of the night, Juventud Guererra. I expect this one to steal the show. D-Lo Brown vs. Sonny Siaki (casket match) In my eyes, D-Lo Brown has had the best six months of his career in TNA. He has shattered any leftover residue from his past and has emerged as a top player. Just watch his style in the ring and the things he is doing. He is a whole different athlete. Siaki and Brown had a great match last time out, and this feud should culminate in this casket match Wednesday night. Raven vs. Shane Douglas (Hair vs. Hair) Ah yes, the biggie. Someone will be as bald as a cue ball. I can't wait for this one. There are several factors that will make this one quite intriguing. Raven has Julio and CM Punk by his side, while Shane Douglas has Father James Mitchell and the New Church, as well as the mystery man that has been haunting Raven for the past several months? How will this play out? Your guess is as good as mine. Another feud to keep your eye on is Jeff Jarrett's feud with the Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels. Look for that one to heat up over the next couple of weeks. A female seen on TNA who will go unnamed has been approached by with Playboy about a future pictorial. If it becomes a done deal, I will pass it along. I had quite an adventure out in Montana on vacation. It was the first time my family had gathered together in quite a while. My brother now plays guitar for Radney Foster, who is one of the most respected singer/songwriters in Nashville and hosts CMT acclaimed Crossroads show, and they played a benefit concert in Yellowstone in between days spent fly fishing and white water rafting. If you read Bob Ryder's "Notes from Backstage" column, he eluded to what I am now calling "My day on the river of death." After nearly an hour of braving the rapids in our rafts, we came to a clearance where the river widened and it was time to paddle the rafts forward. Unfortunately, the winds weren't letting us go anywhere. We were able to about move forward about 300 yards in an hour. I was blowing up like Ox Baker in a 60 minute broadway with AJ Styles. Since the winds were not slowing down at all, we decided that we would have to take the raft to the shore, ditch the raft, and walk along the river in order to get to the boat launch by sundown. For the next three hours, I walked along a mountainous rocky river shore in my flip flops. It was amazing I didn't break an ankle. About an hour into it, I nearly stepped on a rattlesnake that was right on the path. That sucked. We finally made it back to the road, and safely home, thus completing my day of fun on the river of death. I tried fly fishing as well, which I really enjoyed. I almost hanged myself getting the casting down, but four hours and several beverages later, I got it down and landed a decent sized trout. Although I'd prefer going out on Bobby Ry's ocean rig deep sea fishing, actually being waist deep in the water trying to catch the fish was kind of a different twist. While I did enjoy it, it did seem like quite a bit of work just to catch a trout. From the indy files… I heard a first hand account about this one. You will often see wrestlers who perform in, well, a lower budget outfit. The age old standard is the cut off jean shorts, allowing guys show up and wrestle in what they wear to the show. Two weeks ago, a wrestler that will remain unnamed went to the ring and forgot to remove his cell phone that was clipped to his jean shorts. Sure enough, he had no idea and even took a few bumps with the phone remaining attached. He didn't notice it until… and I bet you can see this coming… the phone rang while he was standing on the apron. Who else would call at such an inopportune time? His boss. That is all for this week… we will see you back live on PPV this Wednesday night! Jeremy Borash The DVD sounds very cool, hopefully it will have some of the early X division stuff with Lynn, Styles & Low-Ki.

Guest JacK Report post Posted September 13, 2003 Wow . . . 4 hours and full matches . . . yep, I'm sold, even if I have to pay thru the nose with all the dang shipping cost and the Exchange rate (although the Aussie Dollar has been higher recently, over the last month I think; it's dropped off a bit . . . damn TNA should've released it a month ago! I'd've saved a fortune!)

I haven't seen a moment of NWA:TNA since episode 2 and I know I've missed a ton. -=Mike
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Another feud to keep your eye on is Jeff Jarrett's feud with the Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels. Look for that one to heat up over the next couple of weeks. Does this mean they'll actually let Daniels look good at Triple J's expense at some point? ... Hah, yeah right.
