The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Recommended Posts

Plus, I am getting all of my friends to sign the petition. I told them, if anything, just do it for me because it will make me happy.

From what I could find out via various searches, finally finding http://www.allyourtv.com/ratingsweekly.html, Angel is behind 7th Heaven, Smallville, Everwood, Gilmore Girls, and Reba.

No, I am almost 100% Angel does better averagly than Reba.

HA...it gets more viewers than Tru Calling.

Kiss that show good bye.

It doesn't help the fact the show is on during the TOUGHEST ratings period of the week. Plus, the show sucks.

In EW, they did a review on the show. The guy said, something like this, "We need to see Eliza when she was Faith on BTVS, that was a very high part of her career." And he goes on to say the show sucks and gives it a C-, I believe.

I am sure EW will have a big article about Angel being cancelled; they love everything about Joss except for Alien: Resurection.

Well, I take the day off yesterday from TSM. I just sat around all day and watched season 3 of Angel. I was watching "Loyalty" and have never seen the ending of the episode. Angel is all calm and it looks like he is going to let everything slide with Wes. Then BAM MOTHERFUCKER he goes fuckin CRAZY. Right then and there, Angel passed Buffy as my favorite show of all time.

Loyalty isn't the episode where Angel loses it on Wes. Loyalty is where Wes first goes to Holtz. You're thinking of Forgiving....but yes, that was such an awesome moment.

Wow good call. I mixed up something I saw a few days ago.

I just vented like what to my drunk ass friend about Angel, and it felt better.

When I vent to my Sister tomorrow, it will feel even better.

Looking at those ratings, I'm shocked how low Smallville is, maybe it was a repeat week like Tru Calling because I wouldn't have expected Angel to be so close.

It's weird, I love the show but I'm kinda already over it. My mind is just focused how much I want the series finale to kick ass.

He was a writer for it.

Yeah, if you watch "Fredless" when Fred's mom is talking to someone (Cordelia?) at the end, she said her husband liked all the Alien movies, except "he dozed off during the last one", which was a jab at Joss~

To try and move away from the sad and depressing cancellation news, I'll start something else. With the season over halfway through, how would you rank the episodes so far?

For me:

1. You're Welcome

2. Destiny

3. Damage

4. Lineage

5. Soul Purpose

6. Conviction

7. Hellbound

8. Life of the Party

9. Why We Fight

10. Harm's Way

11. Just Rewards

12. The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco

13. Unleashed

Blackflag, your sig, mixing in the Foxtra that IS Lilah Morgan and a Mike Tyson tirade just made you my new favourite poster :)

"I'll fuck you till you love me" - It says so much...

Heheh, thanks :) I had forgotten about the Tyson thing in my sig when I put the pic in but then I looked at it and it just went together nicely :D

Watching episodes like "Sleep Tight" "Forgiving" and "The Price" just furthers my belief that Angel has the best storytelling on television. This whole debacle just completely boggles my mind.

Anyone seen this?

Levin's Apology to Joss Whedon

16.01.04 - 11:59

Angel won't be the only vampire show on The WB next year, but until the press tour, Joss was unaware of the new project.

Also in that oh-so-Hollywood way, during a panel session earlier in the day, "Angel" and "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon was asked for his reaction to the word that the WB was looking at a fall pilot by "ER" and "The West Wing" producer John Wells, based on the old vampire soap opera "Dark Shadows."

Whedon obviously was taken by surprise.

"At least it’s not an important, successful producer," Whedon joked.

At the party, Levin took Whedon aside to apologize for not telling him earlier.

When asked about the conversation, Whedon said there was no problem.

"Well, except that our budget is cut so we won’t actually have the money for vampires next year," Whedon joked. "You’ll have to look off-camera for them as we reference the scary people."

Whedon also commented about his Oscar win as the screenwriter for "Toy Story."

"I didn’t come up with the concept, but my claim is that although I made a film that parents have to sit through over and over again, at least I slipped in enough humor that they can enjoy it too," Whedon said.

Variety on what Levin had to say about Dark Shadows and Angel:

"The WB made sure to tout its returning hit shows at TCA, hosting a panel on "Angel," which is enjoying a particularly strong year. Levin said there is no reason for "Angel" to worry about competition from producer John Wells’ "Dark Shadows," which is being developed for the WB.

"I think the two shows can co-exist. ’Angel’ is an action-adventure, while ’Dark Shadows’ is a gothic soap opera," Levin said."

That last quote from WB head honcho Levin is a real smack in the face if you ask me. Especially now in light of the cancellation, it just reeks of bullshit.

I remember reading that, I didn't give it much thought though because I had undue faith in the WB. Maybe we should have seen it on the tables long ago, of course it doesn't help that Kristin from E! bullshitted us and said it had been picked up already. That's always been in the back of my mind when any there's been any cancellation talk.

I am not getting my hopes up, what so ever.

Me neither. But I'm not going to be complacent about it. Especially when Mutant Enemy and friends have given me 7+ years of top-notch entertainment.

Here's something from over on BronzeBeta

(Mon Feb 16 06:03:01 2004 209.214.56.33) [Edit/Delete]

Here's something I picked up that sounds like a good idea:

Quick Postcard Campaign to Save Angel

Unfortunately, emailing networks or posting in online petitions is a waste of time. As soon as they start getting emails, they set up spam filters to delete the mail and they don't ever see what comes in. Waiting around for somebody to organize something is wasting precious time--organized campaigns are going to be great but here's something you can do NOW.

If you want to actually do something that actually might--MIGHT--help to get another season for Angel...

DO THIS TOMORROW

1. Go and buy some postcards that show scenes from your city. Tourist postcards. Postcards that have the name of your town or city or area of the country on them. You don't need anything fancy, just something that will show immediately where you are located so they know this is coming from all over.

2. Write a short message on the postcard in your own words saying that you want Angel to be renewed and support the show. Keep it positive. Don't be insulting. Don't be abusive.

3. Address the postcard to one of the people on the list of addresses in this message. Levin may ignore the cards coming into the WB, but the media outlets will see there's a story in this and publicize it. The names on the list are in order of importance so start at the top and send as many postcards as you want to (or can afford to send).

4. Go and get at least six friends who probably aren't reading this on the internet but would be willing to send postcards, and get them to do the same thing.

5. DO IT TOMORROW! Speed of response is what counts along with the size of the response. Don't wait for instructions from some group. Just DO IT.

Here are the addresses to mail your cards to:

Matt Roush

TV Guide

Box 500

Entertainment Weekly

****************

TNT is the best possibility to pick up Angel since they've gotten good ratings with the reruns and do some original programming.

Turner Network Television

Attn: Robert DeBitetto (pres, original programming)

1888 Century Park East, 14th Fl.

Los Angeles, CA 90067

Turner Network Television

Attn: Julie Wietz (exec vp. original programming)

Turner Network Television

Attn: Garth Ancier, Executive Vice-President, Programming

******************

Rumor is that Levin doesn't accept cards or letters and they get returned, but a flood of mail might make news even if it doesn't get through

Warner Brothers Network

Attn: Jordan Levin, CEO

4000 Warner Blvd., Building 34R

Burbank, CA 91522

*******************

And, if you want to send cards to Joss to express support and let him know the level of interest, here's where to send them:

Joss Whedon

C/o Mutant Enemy Productions

PO Box 900

Beverly Hills, CA 90213

And to send cards supporting the cast and crew:

Angel Productions

20th Century Fox

PO Box, 900

Beverly Hills

CA, 90213-0900

********************

Now, if you actually want to accomplish something, make some news, and maybe, just maybe, get a sixth season for Angel...

DO THIS TOMORROW AND DON'T PUT IT OFF!

Also, permission is given to repost this message to other lists, message boards and other places that are interested in supporting Joss and Angel. Spread the word and let's do something quickly. Speed counts.
