Mole 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Even when she grows old and has to stop patrolling and averting armageddon she won't be normal. She is a slayer, she has super powers, she fights monsters, she will NEVER be normal. Getting more help doesn't change that. She isn't the chosen one anymore, but she's still chosen. Even if she could just hand all the responsibility over to the SITs I really doubt she would. She accepted her duties years ago. Bah, even if she still has to do SOME slayer duties, she isn't alone anymore. There are hundereds, maybe thousands of girls out there who are now slayers. Buffy was by herself because she was the only slayer. Faith was in jail and was evil for awhile, so basically Buffy was alone. Buffy isn't alone anymore! Anya 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Only because it was under the town. Edit: Also, the Scooby Gang has referred to Sunnydale ITSELF as "the Hellmouth" before. The Initiative is under the town too and nobody called it the Hellmouth. Master's church was under the town and nobody called it the Hellmouth. Buffy and them refered to the cave as the Hellmouth. They said energy from the Hellmouth caused you to go crazy near the seal. Andrew specifically said the Seal of Danthazar was a doorway to the Hellmouth. It is obvious the seal was supposed to be the entrance. The whole town was the Hellmouth. Before the seal there was no doorway or portal, it was just that the town was a place where the walls between dimensions were thin. The spot in the library was where it was thinnest. Now, apparently the seal acts as an entrance or whatever. Who knows how the seal got there and how long it'd been there.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Buffy doesn't have *all* the weight of the world on her shoulders, which is the point. -------------- I will never buy the Joyce thing just being FE. That was totally un-FE like. There's "FE like"? It was subversive and manipulative, I'd say that's "FE like", if there ever is such a thing. The first was trying to divide them; it tried to get Willow to stop using magic and commit suicide, it used Spike to cause a rift between the people who see him as a threat (everyone) and the person who wanted him to stay (Buffy), and it used Joyce to get Dawn to kick Buffy out. All of this was in Conversations with Dead People (Spike siring Holden) What was with the demon? I thought that was The First goofing around to make Joyce seem legit in Dawns eyes; if Joyce just appeared then it would fall-in-line with what the others have done, but with her "fighting" whatever was trying to stop her (In Dawns eyes, the first), that it seemed more "real". That sweet ole mom was trying to help out from above. Cassie used Tara to help prey on Willows emotions, to make it seem more legit. How could it mess up the house and hurt Dawn? It never did anything like that before or after. That's the one plot hole that always haunted The First. The stuff with Caleb, the stuff with Angel, and this stuff where we have it touching/effecting something in the normal realm is the big gap.

I very much doubt a continuity buff like Joss would make this kind of mistake.
Anya 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 The way it harassed Willow, Spike, Angel, Buffy(when it was Caleb), Faith, Wood and all the other times it appeared don't match with what it did to Dawn. It's weird it only did that one time then just went back to just talking to people. I guess the demon on Joyce and whatever was scratching at Dawn and causing all the trouble in the house could have been one of FE's agents, but they should have said that. That whole scene rules though. CWDP is awesome. Andrew explains that the seal is a doorway to the Hellmouth in Storyteller.
Max Danger 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 It just needed to appear in a different form to Dawn to manipulate her, is my thinking. Just because it was slightly different than the other ways it appeared doesn't mean it wasn't the First Evil.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 They way it "messed with" them was personally. Spike through his "past" with the music and buffy, Willow with Cassie/Tara, Tara with her mother, Andrew with Jonathan/Warren, Wood with his mother - the first used people they love and therefore trust the most. It falls in line. You can feel that it didn't, that's cool and I can't change the way you feel; I feel that the season was rushed and some probaby don't, but it fell in line with what the First was doing. The only problem is the touching; which is a continuous problem throughout the series w/ the first.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 I'm officially surprised (again). They took the show in the one direction I didn't expect. I figured it was either a) They kill Illyria and Fred is dead and gone and that's it or b) semi-reset ending and Fred is restored.the idea of Illyria (in Fred's body) becoming a part of the cast (which it looks like from the ending) didn't even occur to me. Damn I'm gonna miss this show. The last month has been producing episodes that imo will go down as true Buffyverse classics... You're Welcome, Smile Time, Hole in the World, and now Shells. Wes was just on a complete tear wasnt he? I mean holy hell...
Guest Brian Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Do they just kill off Fred and Wesley in the end? It seems like it's the only way those two can really be together is in death, much like Romeo and Juliet. I was marking out when Angel showed up behind Illyria and hit her. Needs to be mentioned. It seems like it's the only way those two can really be together is in death, much like Romeo and Juliet. I was marking out when Angel showed up behind Illyria and hit her. Needs to be mentioned. I feel like Fred will be back. There's enough of her left in Illyria with the memories she was showing off at the end of last night's ep. It'll happen, unless they did some serious rewrites when discovering the show was going to be cancelled - I don't see Mutant Enemy killing off their one female character if, at the time, they're intending to have another season. They always surprise, though.
Guest JMA Report post Posted March 5, 2004 I don't see how Fred could come back when her soul was DESTROYED. Think about that, she won't even have an afterlife. It's really very sad. Fred's death is a needless tragedy--which is one of the reasons she shouldn't come back. Joss is great at making one have an emotional attachment to the characters he and his staff create. I look forward to Illyria trying to find her place in the world. On the subject of Cordy: does anyone besides Angel and Spike know she's dead? No one really seemed to grieve over her death (besides Angel). If you look at things realistically, Wesley, Gunn, and Fred should've been crying for months after she died. I often wonder if their memory of Cordy has been erased (ala Connor)... Back to Fred. Does ANYONE know the name of the song that was played at the end of the episode? Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Also, for anyone interested, the song during the closing credits was performed by Kim Richey and called "A Place Called Home." Nice linkage to the episode of the Season 4 finale, too - "Home" indeed. I posted the song name a couple days ago, JMA. Kim Richey, "No Place Like Home." Enjoy. Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2004 Alright guys, don't lose your marbles yet. Take this with a bag of salt. « Previous Article - Back to the Homepage - Next Article » The WB *might* pick ANGEL up for a 6th season From Smgboard.com - By Jennifer Marsters (nickname) - 2004-03-5th I got this on the http://www.saveangel.org site. It was in the forums: http://www.pixsys.co.uk/angel/forum/. The topic can be found here for anyone who wants to read/see it: http://www.pixsys.co.uk/angel/forum/viewtopic.php?t=205. Here’s what Rebecca on the saveangel.org forums had to say: Okay, so I got this off of the City of Angel Forum. I think its not true, but I am going to post it anyway. The person who posted this, posts often, so I know it isn’t spam, I just don’t think its true. So here goes: "My friend flukie (inside info guy) has informed me that the WB has signed Angel up for a 6th season provided that the rating increase and the pleas to keep angel alive are massing over the 2 million mark so the WB will consider Angel to be its most important asset." Okay, seriously, I do not know how reliable this is. The guy who wrote it posts often, so I know he is not just spamming the site. Everyone at City of Angel were saying that it was a lot of crap too, but here is what he had to say in response. "no no joke this is serious my friend know loads of stuff before most people get a wind of it and he’s about 98.6 % accurate on all Angel things." The WB hasn’t confirmed anything on this yet. Just to let you know. So take it with a grain of salt. I’m not believing anything until it’s been confirmed. I’m not gonna get my hopes up or anything because then I will just be let down even more. Let’s hope this turns out to be true.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 I read that too and I don't believe it at all. Angel is done with. However, since Joss has the Firefly movie I am happy about that. EW had a report about the Firefly movie this week; so that is always good. Plus the fact that EW loves Joss.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 I just hope they make up their damn mind either way. Yeah, this rumor has to be false, but just let everyone (well, at least Joss) know so he can end the season appropriately.

Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 which season is better, 2 or 3?
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 Three, definitely. I mean, I love both, but the Darla arc and the Connor arc are so amazingly awesome. Holtz is an great villian, too, because he's justified in his actions.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2004 Season 3 is better because they got rid of the monster of the week type episodes and consitrated on the story arc. They sort of did that in season 2, but not really. However, seeing Angel act crazy in season 2 defiently owned. And the last episode will air May 19th. For episode 18, "Orgin," here is the cast and additional cast. Let me just say this episode is going to rule. CAST Angel DAVID BOREANAZ Charles Gunn J. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Season 2 is a really, REALLY crucial season; we get to see the group change and transform into what they are for the rest of the shows life. It's a really remarkable season that cannot be passed-over. Season 3 is better as they really got into a great groove and got some awesome drama going, but Season 2 is where you got to see the sign(s) of things to come.
