Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Watching Wood interplay with the Scoobies when he was introduced a couple of episodes ago, I had forgotten how good he was. His interaction with Andrew was priceless. And tonight, going all out with Spike, reminded me why I liked his character- he was a bad-ass with a past, no powers but a lot of training. Mole 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Storyteller sucked. Amen to that.
Anakin Flair 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Storyteller = Andrew's documentary ep? That was great. How could you not like him zooming past Willow and Kennedy making out? How could you not like Willow and Kennedy making out? Kennedy is a bitch, but she was still very bangable. That was a bright spot in the ep. I just LOATH Andrew. The way most people hate Kennedy, that's how much I hate Andrew. Oh, and the "We are as gods!" thing was cute. And Anyanka, Xander and Anya had sex, they didn't get back together. They just gave each other closure. But I do believe they would have gotten back together if she had survived. And I know most people here don't like the fanfics or virtual seasons, but I cam across a site that has a unch of these sites listed: Virtual Series Guide There are some good stories in here, my new personal favorite being Soul Slaying- Virtual Season 8. this site will also be getting a virtual Angel continuation. LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Wow, that site is messed up when using FireFox. They need to do a redesign.
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Xander and Anya having sex in Storyteller wasn't really closure or "one last time". They do it again in Touched. The whole thing is a joke. "Break up sex" for Anya and Xander is never really break up sex. That's how their whole ship started in season 4, her demanding sex so they could "move on". Mole 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 On another note.... What episode should I watch tonight, Buffy or Angel?
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 You can't "another note" something as important as Anya and Xander having sex. I'm watching Not Fade Away again, for like the 8th time.
Mole 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 That doesn't help people.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2004 Angel. On the whole, I find Angel > Buffy. Probably because Buffy can be really annoying at times.

Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2004 Got this off of Shotgun Reviews, swiped from whedonesque.com One Last Angel Rant: So I got the new Entertainment Weekly (Tom Hanks cover), and there's a report on the final ratings for every broadcast series from the past season. Curiousity got the best of me, and I decided to check out how The WB's shows stacked up. Obviously, I did it out of my Angel fandom. Get this: of the top seven WB shows, Angel was the ONLY ONE that posted a gain this year. Its overall ratings were up 8%. That's not super-huge, but it's fairly significant for a show in its fifth season. The other six all dove, some precipitously. 7th Heaven dropped 15%. Smallville plummeted by a stunning 25% from last year. Everwood and Charmed both dropped 4%. Reba lost 11%. And critical darling Gilmore Girls went down 21%. For an even more shocking number, the final episode this year posted almost 1.5 million more viewers than normal; stunningly the numbers for the finale even beat the numbers for the finale of its parent show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Clearly, something was going on here. In addition to the "show reset" that Angel did this year, the show sold strongly on DVD (the first three seaons are out) and has become a staple of TNT's syndication rotation. Essentially, that means that The WB's argument that Angel was inaccessible to new viewers has an awful lot of holes. If all of TV is a game of numbers and money, then I'm frankly baffled as to why a show with growing numbers that's obviously capable of generating money gets dumped when other gems of the net are bleeding viewers. What's more remarkable is that the two genre shows that were alleged to take Angel's place, the ill-conceived Dr. Smith-less Lost in Space remake and the ill-conceived hasn't-this-failed-once-already Dark Shadows re-remake, both failed to make The WB's fall slate. What will occupy the old Angel slot? Sketch comedy shows from Drew Carey (who already had a sitcom AND a sketch comedy show shitcanned by ABC in the last year) and Jeff Foxworthy's redneck comics. The only thing that seems to make any sense at all is the fact that The WB blanched because they had to pay a bit more for the show, since it was a 20th Century Fox production. Still, increased ratings, word-of-mouth, and the ability to sell product are usually seen as desirable things. The fact that UPN didn't pick up Angel they way they did with Buffy (which was not cancelled, but rather, moved) has more to do with the fact that UPN lost money on the Buffy manuever and is busy pissing away cash on the swiftly sinking Enterprise (all I need to say there is "Alien Nazis"; didn't Roddenberry already beat the fuck out of that dead horse once?). I believe that the Angel situation and the bleak nature of the fall line-up for every network underscores my earlier point: the broadcast networks become more irrelevent by the year. Fates willing, Whedon can reconvene his big stars in the next year or two and give the Buffyverse the big, all-star action blow-out it deserves as a final chapter. Until then there's animation, DVD, comics, and the glimmering hope that is cable. That's some crazy stuff.

Guest Brian Report post Posted June 19, 2004 Watching Wood interplay with the Scoobies when he was introduced a couple of episodes ago, I had forgotten how good he was. His interaction with Andrew was priceless. And tonight, going all out with Spike, reminded me why I liked his character- he was a bad-ass with a past, no powers but a lot of training. Wood and Spike were awesome. Wood asking Spike where he got that coat right before he was going to leave. Spike telling Wood to use the stake. And the fight scene. Guest Brian Report post Posted June 19, 2004 I would almost say his character motivation was similar to Blade.
Guest Brian Report post Posted June 19, 2004 And I can't believe with those numbers, especially coming off that finale, that the WB wouldn't want to test waters with a movie or Connor spin-off. I'm working on ideas for the spin-off in my head. I think they should start in the hotel, with Connor waiting to find the others. He looks out the window to see the four rushing into battle, he turns and rushes to the door looking to help before he's stopped by somone, his new liason with the PTB (and it's way too fucking bad they couldn't have used Doyle for this spot). Says something along the lines of this is their battle, yours will come. No evidence of the four are left on the outside, and two demons bust through the doors of the Hyperion as a wave of demons sweeps through LA. Connor flashbacks to where he's seen these two before, in Quar'toth, and are intermixed with the fight scenes. He defeats them, and opens the doors to the newly destroyed city. Then you roll the start of the show. Anyone think that would make a good opening.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2004 Brian, you just blew my fucking mind. I didn't think a Connor spin-off could work; you convinced me otherwise.

Anya 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2004 I just ordered the Anya bunny figure. It's really cool, but it makes her look fat. I should get a Xander to go along with her.
Guest Brian Report post Posted June 20, 2004 I'd really love to bring Faith in at some point, but I'd also want to play with the tensions in play between W&H and the SITs, where the SITs would only be used as stop-gaps outside of LA and are against going in because "Angel's crew should clean up their own mess". And I love the idea of using Holtz again, with him calling out moves as Connor follows along in real time. And Connor would have to go insane by Season 2, when he finally gets the full scope of the flashbacks and the weight of protecting the city gets to him. And if there were ever a logical time to bring in a player, that would be it. The main stories for three seasons should basically write themselves, especially if someone nails down the other characters.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2004 ugh, Cordy ordering Beast around is so lame. YOU DAMN FUCKING RIGHT!!!!! It's the worst thing EVER in the Buffyverse. EVER. Worse than Drunk Caveman Buffy. WORSE THAN DRUNK CAVEMAN BUFFY! That's bad.
Anya 0 Report post Posted June 20, 2004 Everything involved in that is messed up. Her kissing Beast, his weaksauce death, being pregnant with Connor's child. She has no credibility as avillain. Cave Buffy isn't so bad compared to other things. Anya dying, Xander losing an eye and buffy being kicked out is officially the worst things ever in the Buffyverse.
