Guest Paulster Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Hey, I've got a question for all of you. I got seasons 1-6 of Buffy for Christmas, and I don't really want to watch all of season 1, so I chose to watch the episodes I remembered the least. While watching the episode 'Angel', he kills Darla, but I remember him doing that in the first episode inside the masoleum. So my question is, do they explain how she comes back? While watching the episode 'Angel', he kills Darla, but I remember him doing that in the first episode inside the masoleum. So my question is, do they explain how she comes back? Darla was not killed in the first episode, and in fact she didn't even encounter him in it. Darla was orginally supposed to get killed by Willow in the Bronze, but Joss decided to keep her around until the "Angel" episode later, when she was killed by him. Guest croweater Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Darla was the worst Buffyverse regular. I'm glad we were able to see her die twice.

BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 This reminds me of one my favorite moments in Season 1. *During the Darla-Buffy fight in Angel* Buffy aims a bow at Darla. Darla: Hmm, scary. *Pulls out two pistols* Scarier! Funny, how this is one of the few times we see a vampire use an actual gun.
Anya 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 The crossbow is so lame. They always carry it like it's such a powerful tool, yet it never works. Only the weakest of vamps actually get killed by it. Actually most of the weapons on Buffy are like that. They'll always take like a bunch of swords and axes, then never get used.

I wonder if blowing a vampire's head off with a gun would actually kill it? I don't think we ever saw anyone do that in the history of either show.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 That should work. I remember on this episode of Highlander (the one Anthony Stewart Head was on) the other immortal for the episode said that shooting him at that range would probably take his head. Probably a completely different thing, though. And they mentioned wooden bullets on Angel once (Five by Five, I think), but nobody ever used them. Someone should've used that at least once. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 I didn't know there was so much Darla hate...while I got tied of her getting killed, to come back, to leave, to come back, and then to die again, I liked the character well enough,
Guest Brian Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Darla was awesome. I may be alone with loving her during Season 2, but during Season Three she was absolutely awesome. I could feel the emotion when she was talking about not being able to love her own chiuld. That whole thing was beautiful.
Guest Brian Report post Posted December 31, 2004 I think I used to hate “Birthday”. I’s really grown on me though. There’s a lot of nice little nuances in it, and Skip, and even though I know where Cordy’s headed, I like it. The first part of the ep is pretty mediocre. It’s good in a sense, as it builds fine, but there’s nothing really significant to write home about. Skip is awesome though in his part. Where the episode really picks up is during the fake reality. You get all the great writing of Wes becoming hardened and badass, Gunn and Wes as best of friends without Fred in between them, and her telling Angel he loves him. That was short. Mole 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 "Pangs" is on FX right now. I don't like this episode. The Indians, err, Native Americans are too cheesy. Boo, hoo.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Spike's funny enough in the episode to get past that
Mole 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 No. Spike humor is gold, but since this episode is so bad it is bronze humor.

Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2005 Xander: I think my syphilis is clearing right up (he says this to anya) Willow: and they say romance is dead, or maybe they just wish it was spike: a big battle, at least one of you shouldve bled (or something to that effect) as for weapons I agree. And how come they hardly ever used a flamethrower. If I lived in the buffyverse I would totally have to keep a couple of those babies ready cmon and someone shouldve copied that tales from the crypt movie and used supersoakers filled with holy water oh season 4 is on fx again i like the first two eps. and of course a lame sorta markout moment for me as xander tells buffy that h is car broke down in oxnard (which is right near to where I live) but I dont think I have ever heard of the club he claimed to work at . he shouldve said spearmint rhyno cuz thats the only notable strip club I have heard of around here lol no anyhow Xander: Buffy's friends stole all of her stuff. Now let us go look for those friends who dont sleep at night and have no tans and the halloween ep Giles: Ill have to make a door Anya: you can make a door? Giles (pulls out chainsaw) with this I can Xander: whos a little fear demon? (makes ababy noises) Gilkes: Stop that Xander: Why can he hurt me? Giles No...its just tacky

Mole 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2005 Chaos Bleeds? I was one level away from beating the game, but I had to return the game. Then I sold my Gamecube, so I couldn't play anymore. And the supersoaker was one of the worst weapons in the game.

Guest Brian Report post Posted January 4, 2005 You could always jump on board the DVD club. Season Three, Disc Four, and approaching the Wes/Prophesy arc. Waiting in the Wings I love this episode, because it's a beautiful way to frame love and obsession. There's something critical to explore, in this episode, how Wes and Angel relate to this ballet director. On one hand, they play an estranged part from the women they love, disconnected at points, but completely involved. Wes really leans towards the same sort of obsession as the director, and both are trying to recapture a moment that no longer exists. Looking back, we know that both we're right, but at this moment in time, neither can freeze things the way they want them to be; the revelation through Fred we get at the end that love can't be controlled. I like the opening, because you really get the contrast of Wes and Gunn's love for Fred. Wes is almost obsessive, but disconnected from her since "Billy", unable to come to terms with how he treated her and stuck on the outside. Gunn, meanwhile, is right there with her, has earned his place in a lot of ways. I'll contrast this later with the Angel/Cordy/Groo love triangle as the episode progresses, because it is very telling. I love Gunn's reaction to the ticket buying. Angel: "Guys, seeing real ballet live it's... (sighs) it's like another world. Gunn, these guys are tight, and you're gonna be trippin' out." Gunn: "Don't be usin' my own phrases when we lost the trust." It's weird how the qualities that Fred sees in Gunn, that she reveals to Cordy in the shop, are applicable so much to Wesley. Much in the same way what Cordy sees in Groo is applicable to Angel as well. I love this reflective quality to the love triangles. Okay, I love Angel busting out the violence after the bribe fails. I like how it's Angel and Cordy acting out the star-crossed lovers part because there's a forbidden-esque feeling to their romance. Nice little Lorne scene. They're using him really great in this episode, giving him his moments to shine but not really going overboard. I like how he talks about selling Connor to the vamp cult, and then end the scene on the mini-cliffhanger. There's this point that Angel can't ever truly articulate his feelings for Cordy, which comes into play a lot. After Buffy, Angel is afraid of falling again. He's searching for what is love, but can't express it. Oh yeah, Cordy's hot. And Fred's not exactly painful on the eyes. There's the establishment that love is not something you can own, control. This works so great with part of the Season Four mini-theme, which was "love is sacrifice". The minions are pretty cool. They're not gentlemen cool, but they're up there. That shot of Wes watching Gunn and Fred kissing was beautiful. The shooting of this episode has been really great, graceful. I love how Wes reveals things and it fits so much in with his feelings. There's a really interesting part where Angel is talking to the ballerina. It's really a great discussion of free will and higher powers, and really plays well to next season where they find out that their roles were predetermined, that they weren't making choices but were pawns, much like she is a pawn that belongs to a controlled system. And all it takes is one person making a choice to change that, opposed to what Holland Manners said. "If - nothing we do matters, - then all that matters is what we do. 'cause that's all there is." "Start a website." That fucking rules. And now to explore the other love triangle. Angel is not so different than Wes. He's close, but never close enough. And Groo has much of the same qualities as Angel: similar in build, noble, champion. But he's not Angel. And I love how Fred is discussing this all at the end with Wes. I feel so much for him at the end, and not as much for Angel.
Guest Brian Report post Posted January 4, 2005 'Nah' to the DVD club or 'nah' to the episode? Anyways, I realize why I feel so much more sorry for Wes, was not because of his eventualy downfall, but because of the somewhat telling ending to the next episode, "Couplet", where Angel and Wes trade off on being alone. Not even the false prophesy, it's that moment where Angel has something to fall back to despite losing Cordy, and Wes has absolutely nothing.
