Metal losing matches...

Recommended Posts

[Well...darn it. There's my prospective records gone...first up, congrats to Bowers. Hopefully I get a rematch sometime soon. And secondly...I thought I'd put this up, ask for a little feedback. I think I kinda know where I went wrong...namely starting the match about 2/3 hours before the deadline :P But anyway, read on...any feedback is welcomed.]

Returning from a commercial break, the crowd at the Joe Louis Arena are standing, going crazy as soon as they see themselves on the big screens around the arena. After a few seconds of this, the camera quickly shoots over to Judge, Annie and Ejiro at ringside sitting at the announce table…Ejiro’s SWF US Title sitting easily noticeable in front of him.

Ejiro: Welcome back to the Jim Louis Arena!

Judge: Err…it’s Joe Louis.

Ejiro: Joe Louis, sorry.

Annie: Who's Jim Louis?

Ejiro: Who's Joe Louis?

Judge- Guys please…up next, it’s Television Title time…and it’s one on one, Landon Maddix versus Brian Bowers. It’s pretty obvious who the fans in the JOE Louis Arena will be behind here. Brian Bowers has not endeared himself to anyone in his short time here.

Funyon- Ladies and gentlemen, this contest is scheduled for one fall…and is for the SJL World Television CHAMPIONSHIIIP!!!

The now near customary cheer goes up for this…not just for it meaning a title match, but also a Landon Maddix appearance. Slowly the cheers begin to tail off, as the houselights suddenly cut out and the video screen cuts to static. “The Gash” by The Flaming Lips begins playing, to large boos from the crowd as Brian Bowers and Kate Elliot step out from the back.

Funyon: Introducing first, he is the challenger. He is accompanied to the ring by Kate Elliot, and hails from Sudbury, Ontario Canada. Weighing 236 pounds…he is BRIIIAAAN BOOOWWWEEERS!!!

Bowers and Elliot shuffle their way to the ring, Kate carrying her backpack as ever and Brian wearing his duster jacket.

Ejiro- So…is the tramp look in with you Annie?

Annie- I don’t know…she’s a little old for me.

Judge- Really?

Ejiro- Really!?!

Annie-……ok, no.

Bowers rolls into the ring, as Kate does the same, and both go over to ‘their’ corner. Slowly Bowers removes his jacket, and passes it to Kate, who seems to be slightly grimacing as she moves. As Bowers slowly de-robes, the opening chords of “The Fight Song” ring through the Joe Louis Arena, quickly drowned out by the cheers of the sold out crowd.

Funyon- And the opponent…the reigning and defending SJL Television Champion. From Huron, South Dakota…weighing 206 pounds…LAAANDOOON MAAADDIIIX!!!

At the sound of his name, Landon Maddix steps through the curtain to a big pop from those in the Joe Lou. In the ring, Bowers gives out a sour look at the reaction, as meanwhile Maddix makes his way down the aisle, tagging hands with those closest to him. Eventually he makes it to the apron, and rolls into the ring. Quickly unstrapping his Television Championship belt, Landon raises it in the air to more cheers, cheers which increase the sourness on Bowers’ face. Slowly, Kate leaves the ring as Bowers stands looking across the ring, trying to get himself ready. Maddix passes the belt to appointed referee Sexton Hardcastle, and it’s shown to Bowers as is customary.

Judge- That’s what this match is all about…that SJL Television Championship which Maddix seems to have a death grip on.

Ejiro- Almost like me and my belt…

Judge- Yeah…‘almost’.

The bell is rung, the belt passed out of the ring, as Bowers leaves his corner for the first time since his entrance. Bowers looks all business, as meanwhile Maddix by the ropes, talking to some of the fans at ringside. This seems to start getting to Bowers, and eventually he gets sick of it and looks to attack. Instead of charging at Maddix, Brian tries to sneak up on the TV Champion. The fans however see Bowers, and quickly warn Maddix…which gives Maddix time to sidestep the lunge from Bowers, and quickly kick Bowers up the ass, sending him crashing out to the floor. This gets a good few laughs from the crowd, which obviously angers Bowers, but seems to anger Kate Elliot even more.

Annie- Ha…nice start for Brian.

Judge- Well, that may very well be the kick up the ass Brian needed…no pun intended.

Ejiro- Oh ha ha…since when did you two start trying to be comedians.

Annie- Oh sorry…trying to be a comedian is your job, isn’t it?

Running around the ring, Kate is already shouting at Bowers from the opposite side of the ring. Not wanting to feel Kate’s ‘wrath’, Brian quickly jumps up to the apron, only to get a forearm to the face from Landon. A couple more forearms follow up, before Bowers finally wakes up and goes for a right hand. Maddix sees it, and using the middle rope shoots himself under the bottom rope, and through a confused Bowers’ legs. By the time Brian has realised Maddix has gone, his legs have already been pulled from the apron…and he crashes face first into the apron, as Maddix rolls back in. This time Kate gets the chance to yell at Brian, who just sits on the concrete floor, holding his jaw while the tongue lashing goes on beside him.

Judge- Maddix is just too quick right now for the older Bowers.

Annie- And Kate is letting him know about it!

Slowly Bowers gets to his feet, and starts to try to apologise to Kate. Maddix meanwhile begins to charge across the ring, and as he gets to the ropes drops down, looking to land a baseball slide on Bowers. The veteran sees his coming and side-steps though, grabbing Landon and sending him crashing into the retaining barrier as he slides out of the ring. Landon crashes into the barrier hard, and falls forward clutching his neck, as Kate yells at Bowers to follow up.

Ejiro- Well, you just know Bowers is painting a mental bull’s-eye on Landon’s neck…and not just because of Landon’s pencil neck.

Judge- No…Bowers does tend to work on the neck of opponents, both for the NMA and the Northern Spike. When he’s not cheating of course.

Obeying the order from Kate, Bowers quickly lays in a couple of stomps to the back of Maddix’s head furthering the assault on the neck. Grabbing him by the hair, Bowers then pulls Maddix to his feet, pushing him forward into the ring apron as he does so. Bowers rolls in the weakened Television Champion, and follows in picking his spot as he goes. Another couple of stomps connect with Maddix’s neck, stopping him in the process of getting back up. With Kate seemingly more content now, slowly Brian seems to be enjoying himself. He drags Maddix to his feet and hits a knee to the midsection…although the knee seems to connect significantly lower than the midsection. Holding his groin, Landon is doubled over, and prime for an attack…but instead of going for a high impact move, Bowers simply drives a double axehandle to the back of the head which sends Landon crashing face first to the mat.

Annie- Looks like Brian is content to beat the tar out of this kid.

Ejiro- Tar? Annie, you should know kids can’t smoke.

Annie- It’s an expression Ejiro…just like shut the fu…

Judge- Ok, we should stop that right there I think!

With his opponent laid face down on the mat, Brian seems in control of the match, and decides to climb to the middle rope. Looking down on his target, and points out his elbow as he raises one arm in the air. With his elbow still outstretched, Bowers springs off the middle rope, and drives the point of the elbow into the neck of Maddix. His body spasms from the impact, as Bowers quickly rolls Maddix over and makes a cover…

…ONE…

…TWO…

…T..Kickout by Maddix.

Annie- No, it’s still way to early for a win.

Ejiro- Worth a try though…especially with the shape this kid’s neck’s in.

Pulling Landon to his feet, Bowers hits another knee to the midsection ‘area’ and a double axehandle to the back of the neck. The challenger then backs off the ropes, and swings out looking for a clothesline…

…but Maddix ducks…

…Bowers begins to turn back around, as Maddix himself runs to the ropes, and comes back with a clothesline of his own. Bowers doesn’t get chance to duck, and catches the arm square across his sternum. Getting straight back up, Bowers looks a little shocked, leaving his arm hanging within reach for Maddix. The TV Champion takes advantage, grabbing it and hitting an arm drag, locking on an armBAR straight afterwards.

Judge- Well, outwrestling Bowers may not be the best strategy…if I were Landon I’d use my speed.

Ejiro- But you’re not Landon…and you can’t use your speed…no offense.

Judge- Err…none taken.

Maddix wrenches back on the arm, only for Bowers to quickly power back to his feet, and counter with an arm drag of his own. Maddix manages to land on his feet from the arm drag though, and run to the ropes. Going for another clothesline, Maddix lunges forward, only for Brian to duck. A grab of the hair bends Maddix over backwards, and quickly Brian hooks the head, pulling back and hooking in a dragon sleeper.

Ejiro- Beautiful move! He’s gonna snap Landon’s head right off his shoulders!!!

Once he has the hold locked in, Brian drops to one knee to increase the pressure on the neck. The crowd start clapping rhythmically, trying to will Landon back into the match, as Kate stands by the apron, clearly still not satisfied with Bowers’ effort. He seems to be doing pretty well for himself though as he wrenches back even more.

LANDON! LANDON! LANDON!

The crowd vocally start to get behind Landon, as Sexton Hardcastle begin to check on Landon’s rapidly diminishing level of consciousness. Still the crowd chant Landon’s name, some of those in the front row getting some verbal abuse from Kate for their troubles. The look on Brian’s face slowly becomes more and more determined, as Sexton clutches a hold of Maddix’s arm…shaking it looking for any signs of life.

Ejiro- It’s over…it’s really over. We’re gonna have a new champion right here guys!

As Brian wrenches the neck back once more, referee Hardcastle raises Landon’s arm…#

…and lets it drop once.

Ejiro- Ring the bell, it’s over.

Annie- Not yet it isn’t…this kid…oh wait, Kate’s jumping up and down. I’ll finish that sentence in a minute.

Hardcastle grabs the arm again, and much to the delight of Kate and Brian…

…the arm drops once more.

Maddix seems to be totally out, with nothing left seemingly. Another pull back on the neck by Bowers seems to just add insult to injury, as Hardcastle again grabs the arm.

Looking over to the timekeeper, Hardcastle seems to be signalling that it’s almost over…

…he raises the arm…

…and it drops…

…halfway, before shooting back up to an ERUPTION of cheers from the crowd. Bowers looks shocked, arguing with Hardcastle immediately, although keeping the Dragon Sleeper on at the same time. Maddix meanwhile is soaking up the crowd support now, using it as a catalyst to fight back. Looking for an escape, Landon shoots his right knee up, catching Bowers in the temple. The fight back seems to get the crowd even more vocal, as Maddix hits a second knee…this one forcing a break.

Ejiro- God damn it how…how does he keep DOING this!?!

A groggy Bowers holds his head, trying to shake off the effects of the knees, as Landon begins to get back to his feet. Brian sees this, forgets about his head and swings with a stiff right hand…only for Landon to duck, and counter with a roll-up…

…ONE…

…TWO…

…two count only.

Both men quickly get back to their feet, Landon up first and hitting a boot to the gut. A couple of forearms get driven into the back of Bowers’ back, as meanwhile Kate is getting increasingly frustrated on the outside. Maddix quickly runs off the ropes, and coming back grabs Bowers’ head, twisting it around into a swinging neckbreaker. Sensing her man is in trouble, Kate leaps onto the apron, which distracts referee Hardcastle.

Annie- Ok…that’s a nice view.

Judge- Yeah…I mean, what is she doing up there?

Annie- From what I’m seeing, whatever she wants.

Peeling away from Bowers, Landon sees Kate on the apron and falls for the distraction too. Landon moves towards Kate, who doesn’t back down and instead starts to yell abuse at Maddix. With a smile on his face Maddix gets close to Kate, and grabs her by the hair…the sold out crowd imploring Landon to hit Elliot…

…suddenly, from behind Bowers sneaks up and catches Maddix with a lowblow!

Immediately after this, Bowers uses the tights to pull Landon backwards, and into a roll-up of his own…

…ONE…

Bowers grabs a hold of the tights for good measure…

…TWO…

…T…

…NO!!!

Ejiro- Landon’s mind needs to stay on Bowers. That’s going to be his downfall I can feel it…Kate’s going to win the title for Brian Bowers.

Judge- You’re beginning to sound just like Kate. Don’t you have confidence in Brian Bowers?

Ejiro- Yeah, but I have more in Kate and her managerial abilities.

Bowers quickly hits a knee to the kneeling Maddix, preventing him from getting up, before going to the top rope. Kate starts yelling at Bowers to get down, but he seems to try and ignore her. She still tries to make Brian see sense though, jumping to the apron again and yelling at him to rethink his strategy.

Annie- He’s trying to outshow Maddix…stupid male pride.

The presence of Kate on the apron stops Bowers on the middle rope, and allows Maddix to get back to his feet. Charging towards the corner, Maddix jumps up to the middle rope, launches off it and nails a super Shining Wizard kick, to a deafening roar from the crowd!!! Bowers collapses to the side, and only just misses wiping out Kate, who quickly jumps to the floor. Meanwhile, a clearly smarting Maddix lays on the mat, holding his neck after an awkward landing.

HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!

Slowly Maddix begins to come around, and rolls to the apron. Getting back up he lays in a couple of boots to Bowers on the apron, until Kate suddenly grabs a hold of Maddix’s foot in a desperate attempt to stop him. A struggle briefly ensues, finishing as Maddix pushes Kate off, sending her crashing into the announce table, and drawing shouts from the suddenly not so tough SWF announce team.

Judge- Damn…we nearly got wiped out over here…

Ejiro- MY BELT! SHE KNOCKED OVER MY BELT!

Judge- Oh please…

Maddix looks down on what he has just done, which takes his eye off of Bowers, who is back up beside him. Maddix sees him in time and hits a right hand, but gets one straight back. Bowers nails a knee to the gut quickly, before grabbing a hold of Maddix and turning him, so he has Maddix in a backdrop position. The crowd leap to their feet expecting something big, as Bowers lifts Maddix up…

Judge- Oh no…god no!!!

Annie- This is going to end it…

…but Maddix manages to float over from the backdrop attempt, and land on his feet on the apron behind Bowers. The TV Champion shoves Bowers in the back, which sends him towards the ring post, only for Brian to raise his foot up and manage to stop himself just in time. But Maddix is already charging towards Bowers…so he has to quickly shoot his leg out, and mule kick Landon.

Suddenly, Bowers drops to his knees, as Hardcastle sees fit to check on Landon’s condition…and Bowers quickly grabs Kate’s backpack, which had been sitting in the corner since they got to ringside. Quickly Bowers pulls the zip on the bag open…and frantically pulls something out, clutching it against his body so it won’t be seen.

Judge- Wait…what’s he got there?

Ejiro- It looks like…deodorant. It is…hey Brian, pass it here…better yet, pass it to Annie.

Annie- Hey, shut up fuckwit.

Trying to fight his way into control again, Maddix doesn’t see Hardcastle’s concern necessary and shoves him away…

…which only gives Brian the time to pull the cap off the deodorant can, and spray Landon in the eyes!!!

Judge- Oh no! He may have blinded him!

Ejiro- Beautiful! It’s the SJL, survival of the smartest!

A yelp rings out around the arena immediately, coming form beneath the hands of Maddix, which are now clutched tight against his eyes in a futile attempt to block out the pain. Bowers quickly throws the deodorant to one side, and pushes Maddix back into the ring before Hardcastle can notice what’s happened.

Annie- We’re about to see a miscarriage of justice here.

Ejiro-…yeah, and a new champion to boot. Isn’t it great?

Annie- No it’s not…it’s unfair.

Ejiro- Boo freaking hoo Annie. It’s too late now anyway…someone better get this kid a guide dog quick, or he’ll never get out of here.

Annie- You are so…so…

Ejiro- So Ejiro! There’s no other word for it baby!

The challenger, and looking close to being the new champion, pulls the blinded Maddix to his feet. Maddix still has his hands clamped tight over his face, giving Bowers a free shot with a quick yet stiff boot to the gut. Brian shoves the doubled over Maddix’s head between his legs, grabs a hold of the red and black tights of the TV Champion, and leans back…driving Landon head first to the mat.

Judge- Pulling piledriver…this one is over.

All the while, Landon still has his eyes covered with his hands, as Bowers stops momentarily to listen to the boos of the crowd. With a wry smile on his face, Bowers quickly turns Landon over, hooking the leg confidently…

Annie- No…please not like this!

…ONE…

…TWO…

…T…

…H…

…R…

…E…

Ejiro- Yes!

Kate jumps up in the air on the outside in celebration…

…JUST AS LANDON KICKS OUT!

A deafening roar suddenly hits the Joe Louis Arena, compounding the shock on Brian Bowers’ scruffy face. Kate meanwhile is incensed on the outside, and goes routing into the backpack once more.

Bowers meanwhile pulls Maddix to his feet again, and hits another hard knee to the ribs. Grabbing Maddix’s head, Bowers turns and drops Landon with a neckbreaker, before signalling that this is the end on his way back to his feet. Suddenly behind him, the can of deodorant gets rolled back into the ring by Kate, but Bowers doesn’t see it.

Judge- What is she doing putting that back into the ring?

Ejiro- Maybe she thinks Landon has a body odour problem…I sure wouldn’t argue with her.

A smile has now emerged on Bowers’ face, as he looks down on the still visually impaired Landon Maddix. Stepping back, he rolls his arm for all to see, lining up a clothesline…

…he takes another step back, to get more of a run-up…

…and then another…but suddenly, treads on something.

The deodorant can.

Kate can only look on in despair, as the can causes Bowers to lose his footing, and crash to the mat. The back of his head rebounds violently off the mat on impact, as meanwhile Maddix is trying his best to get up. Through his blurry eyes, he manages to see Bowers’ position of falling…and climb out to the apron.

Ejiro- No…damn it no. That stupid…why do the make them that shape…damn it.

Judge- We’re about to see the end here I think…this looks like a moonsault about to land…

Maddix grabs a hold of the top rope, taking a moment to wipe his eyes…before launching himself to the top rope. Using that, he springboards to the adjacent rope, which he then does the same from, only this time into a moonsault…landing perfectly across the gut of Brian Bowers!!!

Judge- Yes! Fah-Laming Fury Moonsault!!!

The crowd erupt, as Maddix quickly makes the pin, hooking the leg…

…ONE…

…TWO…

…T…

…H…

…R…

…E…

…EKATE PUTS BRIAN’S FOOT ON THE ROPES!!!

The crowd suddenly deflate, as Landon looks furious. Hardcastle though didn’t see the intervention of Kate, and has no power to do anything about it. Maddix does though, as he goes to the outside and starts to run after Kate, who is already sprinting off the other way. Around the ring the chase goes, until Kate suddenly takes a detour, rolling into the ring. She quickly runs on and out of the ring, as Maddix follows…Bowers waits though, swinging with a clothesline.

Maddix ducks, and runs on, propelling himself off the ropes and nailing a flying forearm! Still favouring his neck slightly, Landon picks himself up and jumps up to the middle rope, as Bowers staggers over, and gets his head hooked across Landon’s shoulder.

Ejiro- Damn it…come on Brian!

Annie- He’s run straight into danger here.

Ejiro- Oh shut up…come on Brian. It’s not over yet!

The TV Champ pushes off the ropes, and twists around pulling Bowers down with him into the Crash Landon! Another large cheer goes up from the crowd, as Maddix uses all the strength he has to roll Bowers over…to crawl on top of him…and to make the cover…#

…ONE…

…TWO…

…T…

…Kate reaches out for Bowers’ leg…

…H…

…but he’s too far away…

…R…

…EEEEE!!! LANDON RETAINS ONCE MORE!!!

Judge- It’s over! A breath-taking end to a back and forth, fast paced match. And Landon Maddix is still the SJL Television Champion!

Ejiro- This is getting ridiculous! Damn it…

Annie- Do you like saying ‘damn it’ or something.

Ejiro- No…I’d prefer to say Landon loses. But it’s not happening damn it!

“The Fight Song” starts up as Maddix is passed his title belt. Wearily he takes the belt from Hardcastle, and raises it in the air to celebrate another hard fought victory.

Funyon- Here is your winner…and STILL SJL World Television Champion…LAAANDOOON MAAADDIIIX!!!

Before Maddix even has time to celebrate though, into the ring rolls Kate Elliot with her backpack, a look of fury on her face. She quickly gives a disheartened look down at Bowers, before swinging her back pack towards Maddix…

…but her turns just in time to grab it in mid swing! The crowd are on their feet again, as Maddix grabs a hold of Kate’s poorly died hair!

Judge- No…he wouldn’t.

Ejiro- Sure he would…he’s not the nice guy everyone says he is…he’s a jerk! Hit her!

Annie- No…take her clothes off!

With a smile on his face, Landon does neither…instead pulling Kate in…

…and pulling her in for a long kiss, which Kate tries to struggle free from. Maddix doesn’t let her, and after a good few seconds of spit swapping, shoves her back down to Bowers, before gathering up his TV Title, and leaving the ring…the smile on his face much wider than before.

Ejiro- What a no good…rotten…

Judge- Easy Ejiro…you’re getting close to complimenting him here. Folks, we’re off to a commercial break…but we’ve still got a European Champion to crown, so stay tuned…don’t turn over…

Ejiro- Or…we’ll get Maddix to kiss you. Or Judge…you wouldn’t want that.
