Lil' Bitch Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 King Kamehameha Based Upon: This movie is based upon the 18th century Hawaiian tribal leader, King Kamehameha I (1758-1819), who conquered the seven Hawaiian islands and made them a single kingdom under his rule. Premise: This is the epic adventure of how an 18th century Hawaiian tribal leader, Kamehameha (The Rock), conquered the seven main islands of Hawaii, and eventually linked the four tribes together as a single kingdom under his rule, which established them as a nation rather than a collection of feuding tribes. The timing couldn't have been more perfect, as this consolidation also allowed King Kamehameha to more adequately deal with the English explorers who came to the islands, who brought to Hawaii the wonders of modern technology (some of which he used to his advantage in his wars to solidify rule of the islands). Spy Hunter Based Upon: The video game franchise that started with the hit arcade game "Spy Hunter" in 1983, which has had various incarnations in the 20 years since, including versions for the Nintendo NES and (today), Game Boy Advance, GameCube, Play Station 2 and XBox. Premise: Former F-15 pilot Alec Sects (The Rock) is recruited to become a member of a government agency called International Espionage Services (IES), specifically joining an elite group called the Spy Hunters. Piloting an experimental battle-car, the G-6155 Interceptor, with all varieties of weapons and gimmicks (including the ability to transform into a speed boat or a super-fast motorcycle), Sects and his fellow Spy Hunters are given the assignment of defeating Daemon Curry, the evil president of a cartel called NOSTRA International, which has plans of world domination. Of course, the bad guys have their own souped-up weapon-packed vehicles, and they don't like being "hunted".
Guest Choken One Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 I remember reading about some contstroversey that Rock was considering the King role as it offended the Samoan race or Hawians found it offending that a Samoan was playing a Hawian or something like that..
DangerousDamon Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 but the rock is the only person that i can think of who would be perfect for king kamehamha..............or the dude that played e honda in street fighter....
Fökai Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Spy Hunter. I remember reading about some contstroversey that Rock was considering the King role as it offended the Samoan race or Hawians found it offending that a Samoan was playing a Hawian or something like that.. It was a big deal until June of last year, when Rock returned to Hawaii for a house show match against Chris Jericho (his first match back). Right after touching down in the islands, he met with the blood descendants of King Kamehameha and asked for their blessing for this role, no matter what happened. In my eyes, it made Rock look like a stand-up guy for coming to them first for their approval. The role for that movie will be his biggest to live up to, given his descendant's history in the Islands, as well as his own. The tattoo on his left arm indicates how he reflects on his own faith and history.

On a related note, Jennifer Lopez who played the Selena role got the same kind of treatment. A Puerican playing the role of a Mexican "star" but the controversy did not hurt the movie nor her career.
Guest El Satanico Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 Rock in a movie that sounds like it would have a semi dramatic side to go with the action? That would be interesting...for a train wreck.
Guest Big_Jay101 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 That King Kahmenhama or w/e is first, they talked about that being his next shoot on Et or E! news live.

So isn't he looking at Predator 3 after This one too? It seems ROCK is the new Ben Affleck of our time....Is "rumored" for every god damn role out there...You sure he wasn't offered or rumored for the Batman role either?
Lil' Bitch Posted September 21, 2003 Author Report Posted September 21, 2003 So isn't he looking at Predator 3 after This one too? The Rock told Sci-Fi Wire that the rumor of him taking over the lead role of Dutch in a third-installment of the "Predator" series is without backing. He noted that it was just an Internet rumor, likely started by the writer. Of course, it is not yet known if The Rock is at all interested.
Mrnoitaull Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO DUKE NUKEM DANGIT ??!!!
Lil' Bitch Posted September 26, 2003 Author Report Posted September 26, 2003 Nevermind, the Rock noted that he's getting ready to film "Spy Hunter" when he was on Regis & Kelly.
