Lil' Bitch Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 1.) What was the first PPV to use a song as its theme? Was it ACDC's "Highway To Hell" for SummerSlam in 1998? 2.) What PPV was Marilyn Manson's "The Fight Song" used for? And if so, was it removed from the VHS / DVD and in what build-up video was it used in?
cawthon777 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 #2 was Backlash 01. You might be right about #1. I'll have to think about that one for a while.
WrestlingDeacon Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 I have Wrestlemania 2 on tape and "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins plays over the beginning and ending credits.

Slickster Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 #2 was Backlash 01. You might be right about #1. I'll have to think about that one for a while. 'Fight Song' was also used for the Inagural Brawl matchup screen before InVasion.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 But did WWF Promote the song for WM 2? Or was it just on there? I think the way Rico asked was the now way, where they play it all the time and/or hype it for the show.
WrestlingDeacon Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 I think Easy Lover was just on there and I actually remember them using the instrumental version of it a lot back in the day. The WWE hyping songs as official themes and pushing them that way is most likely a more recent phenomenon.
Fökai Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Wasn't The Fight Song used for the Austin/HHH build-up at No Way Out 2001?
Lil' Bitch Posted September 26, 2003 Author Report Posted September 26, 2003 Not that I recall, but the build-up was very dramatic and probably one of the best ones WWE ever made.
