Hey yall,

Wrote me a column a yup and hopinng you all will bring some of that feed.

Excerpt MANIA~!~!~!~!~!

So we might as start with someone who is not exactly known for his popularity amongst the denizens of the Internet, Randy Orton. As I am sure most of you know, Randy seems to be the newest project of the Vince McMahon ‘must get this guy over’ machine. And while you might wonder about the choice of Orton as the one to get that treatment, you have to admit the machine has two successes in the forms of Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar. The problem with Randy though is that he is not near those two gentlemen as far as being an in-ring talent and does not have the same degree of comfort behind the microphone that Kurt does. So we are left with a great feeling of disdain as Randy receives a push as the next great superstar in The Evolution happy fun time partnership. But the true problem with Orton though is that he is way too generic at the current time. He is simply acting out a rehash of Triple H and Ric Flair, and what is worse is that he is doing it while standing right next to Hunter and Ric as he does it. Orton does not have the hook a main event player needs to connect with the fans on a higher level. Right now, he’s simply that arrogant guy that hangs out with the other two. Randy has to discover something in himself or his situation that gives the common fan something to relate with so they can forge a relationship with him. Once you do that, you can move beyond the gimmick a bit and work in the more complex character interactions that a big time player needs. But first thing is first, we need to find Orton a hook and it really is not that hard to find. All we need to do is look at the situation we are in and expand it to a broader base. What we have in Randy is a third generation wrestler who in character hangs around with the older generations in order to get ahead. What WWE should do is turn that fact into a story line element and cast Randy as one of those kids who get ahead in the world based on their trust funds and their connections to people in the higher circles. The WWE announcers should shy away from always sucking up to Randy’s rather unimpressive qualities and start beating us over the head with the idea that Orton would not be where he is if he didn’t have the connections. Who doesn’t work for a company that the boss’s kids also work for and are only half qualified to do their jobs? That is something the fans can relate to and can draw much louder responses than the generic push we are seeing at the moment.

Nice idea there, to expand a bit, also should have Orton start telling Austin/Bish that he "deserves" a title shot. Run with it a bit. Have him get jealous of jericho for his match on Monday, and attack him in the back with a weapon of sorts.

Well then go read the article on the site with no italics and 5 other paragraphs. It's a MARVEL.

I'm surprised they haven't thought of that. Rock acting like a rich, arrogant, stuck-up prick is a substantial factor in how he got over in the first place. Plus there was the irony of, despite getting his big chance because of his background, Rock declared himself "People's Champion."

Of course, he told the fans that so many times they eventually bought into it. :P

Kudos...yet another good idea the WWE isn't going to use, since they have to make us think Randy is an incredible athlete and give him verbal BJs for how high he jumps on a back body drop.

This column pretty much nails it. Orton is generic Ohio Valley Talent #429, and their efforts to make us care about him have failed. I like the ideas for giving Orton a character, although if you pitched this in a WWE meeting:

Orton would not be where he is if he didn’t have the connections. Who doesn’t work for a company that the boss’s kids also work for and are only half qualified to do their jobs?

Stephanie McMahon: I don't that's a good idea for an angle. No, I don't think that's a very good idea AT ALL.

Shane McMahon: Steph's right. Who can relate to that? Could you give me an example of that happening? Now go and book a huge feud where I do a huge bump and make myself look better than half the roster. I will reluctantly do it.
