Obscure Unsolved Mysteries ???

I haven't seen this episode in 10 years or so, so It's a little blurry...

I remember a story on UM about a young reporter/politcal intern/whatever who was trying to get a Governer/Senator/Whatever to talk to him... he was blown off several times by the Political Leader... jilted, he came back with a gun, and shot the Pol. Leader an undisclosed amount of times, before his body guards returned fire.

When re examining the situation, the experts felt the lethal wounds that the Pol. leader died from actually came from his own body guards...

So does any one remember this story, or maybe recoginize this story from some where else?

Any info on who the Political Leader was would be helpful.

Huey "Kingfish" Long was a major political force in Louisiana history, having been a Senator, Governor, and was contemplating a run for the presidency against FDR at the time of his death.

The hallway of the State Capitol where Long was shot has marble walls and there is at least one deep gouge about the size of a quarter around and an inch or two deep that is believed to have been left by a bullet from the assassination and retaliation by Long's bodyguards. (It's been forever since I've been on a tour there, so this may not be the most accurate info. I may work up the street from it but I don't go there in my off hours)

There's a really good film based this guy called 'All the King's Men', which one 3 Academy awards in 1949, including Best Picture. I highly recommend, but take note that all the names are changed (Huey Long is portrayed as 'Willie Stark').
