Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Damn skippy, how many filmmakers are lucky enought to pull off the 1-2 punch like Brooks did in 1974 with Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstein
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 27, 2003 He made those in the SAME FUCKING YEAR? Holy Shit...Talk about "feeling it"

Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 27, 2003 do they edit for content?
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Well they certainly kept in the word "nigger" TCM aren't too strict, but then its not like they show Robocop.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 27, 2003 god this movie rules...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 27, 2003 TCM still does widescreen, still has no commercials during movies and still goes unedited. AMC is the channel that sold out.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted September 27, 2003 but doesn't AMC have the larger vault?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 27, 2003 I'm not sure AMC still shows some good stuff and I still watch AMC, but it sucks that they sold out and turned into another commercial infested movie channel.

The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Blazing Saddles is an absolutely brilliant movie. You could NEVER get away with making something like that today, which quite frankly I find sad and at the same time, ignorant. People now are so obsessed with being politically correct that if they see a movie with any hint of racism, they want it struck down with vengeance. But what those people don't see is that the racist folk in Blazing Saddles are the idiot bad guys who get made to look like simple-minded buffoons in just about every scene. The movie makes racist look like out of touch idiots and it's really really funny. It's really a pretty damn good movie all in all. (And it is in our Top 5 all-time quotable movies here at school) Mel Brooks rules it.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 27, 2003 Of course you could still get away with it. You'd just have to deal with a massive shit storm. The problem is that no one has the balls to deal with it. Blazing Saddles was made in '75, so I'd be surprised if Brooks didn't have similar problems. There were organizations around in '75 that could've had problems with it. Didn't Brooks run into problems with The Producers because of the nazi stuff? WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 TCM is showing spoofs and parodies on Fridays all this month. Last night kicked off with Support your Local Sheriff with James Garner, moved to Blazing Saddles and then Spaceballs. No censoring, but that's why it was shown so late. I would say TCM has the larger library, because they have all the stuff Ted Turner owns and the entire Warner Brothers library too. There's the Fox movie channel too, so basically AMC shows whatever is left over.

Minor point, but just an FYI: Blazing Saddles came out in '74.
