Buffy Thread Enters Classics?

Recommended Posts

Damn, it finally got moved? I go away for a day, and my favorite thread dies.

And I believe the reason it's in the Classic folder is because it managed to stay on the top of the movie page for a year without being pinned.

Plus Dames was a big part of the thread, and he does own TSM.

Geez, what's it matter? Oh boo-hoo, a Buffy thread is now a classic. Get over it. And, like Mole said, Dames put a lot of posts into that thread AND he runs this board - it's his decision, what the fuck does it matter to YOU for?

This is blasphemy. No way should a Buffy thread share the same hallowed ground as "Next Saturday, I'm Gonna Do It!".

I'd have to agree with that.

And who's Buffy?

And who's Buffy?

The Vampire Slayer...

"I haven't met one in a while who hasn't known me" - Buffy

 wow...that was hilariously lame

Did you actually quote the show during a discussion that wasn't directly about the show...

Good lord man...do you have no self respect. That's as bad as a trekkie using Klingon speech during their regular everyday life.

Question: Is this really worth the time you guys have been arguing over this? I mean, shit, it's just a Hall of Fame thread in a message board. Take things too seriously much?

I knew he knew who it was.

And yes, I did quote the show.

I know that you shouldn't judge people you see on a messageboard...

but I do know that every single person I know in the real world how doesn't like Buffy is of questionable intelligence...and don't like it because they don't get it.

All the talk of not liking it because the vampires look stupid would seem to indicate this theory holds true.

You know what always struck me as odd? The fact that Buffy should have by all logic failed in the first season. It had no famous actors or actresses (at the time), was on a very unpopular network (again, at the time), and was based on a bad horror/comedy flick. Yet somehow due to some great work it suceeded. It seems like half of the good shows are always canceled.

As for the thread, who gives a shit? It's a thread on some obsure message board. And Dames isn't taking it down just because a couple of posters didn't like the show.

PS: It's called good writing by Joss, Marti, David, David, Jane, TY( ;)),etc...

I don't think there has ever been a show more destined to fail than Buffy was.

It was a MIDSEASON REPLACEMENT...wait for it...ON THE WB.

You DON'T get any lower than that. Especially at that time, when 7th Heaven was only a half season in...and they had NO other shows whatsoever.

Then add in the movie bombing (and being completely out of place with what they would go on to create...so even the people who LIKED the movie wouldn't find many things to like about the show...

I liked the cheesey movie better than the show.

......

HOW many episodes have you seen, again?

Very few. It was unable to draw me in what so ever.

Can you give specifics...I'm still waiting for someone to tell me exactly what it is they don't like about it.

"It's not my kind of thing" doesn't really apply since the show covered every concievable genre...sometimes within the same episode.

It's a show about a vampire slayer that as time goes by seems to be more geared towards scholars than common folk. It defies description.

So then, by your logic, EVERYONE should like it?

?????????

Okay first thing, Vampires=turnoff TV.

The whole premise of the show right off the bat, turns me off.

It's not about Vampires.

It's never been about vampires.

If it were any less about Vampires it would be...well...it couldn't be any less about Vampires.

Everything's a metaphore. At least for the first 5 years...then they got into other stuff.

It's so easily dismissed as a show about Vampires...it's truly a shame that people don't give themselves a chance to get that.

?????????

Yes.

And this is the only thing I've ever seen in my life that I would make that claim about.

No movie, no TV show no nothing. I know that different people have different tastes...but this one show so encompasses every kind of taste that it's something everyone should try.

Well I disagree, as I have sat through a few episodes and I *shock* DID NOT ENJOY THEM. Hey, to each his own. But don't push that farce (IMO) of a good show on me.

Looking back, I sorta wish I had posted more in the thread...heh. I too am curious on which episodes you saw New Me cause there are quite a few episodes that I despise throughout the series. However if you can watch a great episode(Amends(Christmas Eppy), Hush(The "tight" one mentioned by AOO), etc. then you might be more impressed by the show.

Some episodes people wouldn't understand if you didn't know the show. For instance, "Tabula Rasa" is a great episode, but if you never saw the show you wouldn't get half of the jokes.
