Guest TheLukester Report post Posted October 8, 2003 Well, my name is Luke as you could probably tell from my username. I have been lurking here for a long time but I just recently decided to become an active poster. What the hey, right? You only live once. But anyway, I think this board is great. There are so many interesting personalites and the interaction is almost always interesting. My favorite poster is probably Banky. I have never seen anyone best or outsmart Banky and I am beginning to think I never will. I sure hope I do not get into any sort of dispute with him . I look forward to being active in the Music folder. I enjoy music very much. In fact, I am listening to it right now. I also look forward to posting often in the No Holds Barred forum, but hopefully remaining on the good side of many of the more adept flamers. A lot of times I get upset and want to insult someone but I am just not good at it. I like to watch birds. It is unfortunate that this board does not have a bird watching forum, as I am sure that many of you also enjoy the act of watching birds and recording in a small pad of paper the birds that you have seen. Anyway, my name is Luke and I look forward to getting to know all of you and becoming a valuable member of this community.

Not that I'm anyone important around here, but I wonder...
Guest TheLukester Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I am not sure what I might have done to upset anyone, but I will attempt to curb it in the future. I am not good at making friends. They are often put off by my facial tics and frantic twitching. I did not suspect that those things would impede me in my internet friend-making endeavours, however. Now I am beginning to sweat. Guest TheLukester Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I greatly appreciate your advice, Mr. Zsasz. I will attempt to join in on conversations on topics that I am familiar with in the future. If such a conversation is not available, however, what am I to do? Should I politely nod and laugh at the appropriate moments or possibly attempt to change the course of the conversation to an interest of mine? Would binoculars make a good conversation piece? Guest TheLukester Report post Posted October 8, 2003 No. My name is Luke, as you may be able to gather from my username. Many of my relatives and co-workers refer to me as "The Lukester," for reasons unknown to me. I have taken a shine to the nickname and will often refer to myself as "The Lukester." This usually occurs in private. I have even trained my parrot to say "Lukester," which brings me and many of those around me much amusement. I realize now that I have typed many sentences about the origin of my nickname. I am beginning to suspect that my conversational skills are improving, even though I have only been here for a single day. Your advice has been very helpful, Mr. Zsasz. I know you're a gimmick poster, but on the off chance that you really talk that and are serious, allow me to remind you that brevity is the soul of wit. No one wants to read that much shit about your name being TheLukester... we can see that when we look six inches to the left. Oh and the secret to being well liked around here is talking about Mole's dead Mommy. TRUST ME on this one.

If he is who he says he is then I see no problem with that comment. He says he's been lurking for a long time, so he should recognize the joke. Don't be so sensitive. If a mod tells me to edit it, I will however.

Mik 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2003 It is SO easy to accuse people of being you-know-who without ever actually doing so. Watch as I give a brief demonstration. Guest TheLukester Report post Posted October 8, 2003 I am perceptive enough to see that I am being accused of gimmickry, which I had feared would be the case when people saw the way that I write. But I assure you that I am a real person. My name is Luke, but you can call me The Lukester if you prefer that. Many of my relatives and co-workers do. Guest TheLukester Report post Posted October 10, 2003 Want some advice? When you join a forum just start posting as if you had always been there. Don't start a "hey everyone" thread. Just start posting. This is excellent advice and I greatly appreciate your dispensing of this excellent advice. Unfortunately, I have already made the thread and posted many times in it. But I do not feel that the decision to make the thread has put my popularity in jeopardy. I feel that I have already made many friends. I feel that many people here like and respect me. I also feel that many people here are interested in hearing my opinions on topics that interest me, such as music and bird watching. I have had many positive responses to my anecdote about my name. I am very proud of that anecdote and to see it bring joy to others makes me happy. I feel that I am well on my way to becoming a valued member of The Smart Marks. I do not think that this thread has put my popularity in jeopardy. Your advice is still valuable to me, LaParkaYourCar. I think that we could become fast friends.
