Guest Boo_Bradley Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Big John Studd (sub. for Jesse Ventura) defeated WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan via count-out Most may not think it now, but this was HUGE at the time, as BJS was a last minute substitute for JV (Who had blood clots in his lungs-I think?) and BJS took the Hulkster by surprise, and ultimately won via CO - Hogan won the rematch by slamming Studd on a cement floor- which was as HARDCORE as you got in 1984-- Ahh memories This match is talked about in a book by Daniel Cohen - The title escapes me, but he wrote 2 books on Wrestling Superstars, and a 3rd on Majior angles of the time... Amazon still sells them.....

Fökai 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 WWE IC Champion Kane pinned Kurt Angle with the chokeslam I thought it was Jericho who Kane faced. From the Observer - WWE Edmonton House Show 10/12/2002 (Smackdown brand) 8. Chris Jericho over Matt Hardy in 12:00. Good promos by both wrestlers. Fans were chanting "Fozzy, Fozzy." A side note was Fozzy wasn’t exactly early arriving at the arena tonight. Damn Rock Stars. Cough. These guys really worked a solid match. Crowd was really into Chris. Matt is really coming into his own as a single and as a heel. Jericho delivered about 8-10 chops on Matt during the match. Jericho hit his blind running dropkick off the second rope onto Hardy on the ring apron to a good pop. One arm bulldog, quebrada, Hardy knees up. Matt goes for the Twist of Fate, but Y2J turns it into the Walls of Jericho and gets the submission win. WWE Rochester House Show 10/12/2002 (RAW brand) Kane defended the IC Title successfully against Kurt Angle - Before the match Angle got on the mic and insulted the crowd and the city of Rochester. Kane got a big pop, and this was a pretty good match. Angle looked good. Ended on a Kane choke slam and pin.

Cawthon will likely hit on their Spectrum match on Tuesday morning (which I saw on tape today), which was won by Hogan via "pinfall" even though Studd clearly kicked out before three. The last match I have of his is a loss to Tito in Milwaukee during March of that year. I'm thinking that Jesse was simply a no-show for the previous matches. JHawk 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Actually, Jesse's illness didn't come into the picture until Spring 1986. The last match I have of his is a loss to Tito in Milwaukee during March of that year. I'm thinking that Jesse was simply a no-show for the previous matches. By everybody's account though, Jesse didn't start broadcasting until his illness because he couldn't wrestle a full schedule, and his first broadcast was WrestleMania, if I'm not mistaken. Plus Hogan was interviewed at that Spectrum show and mentioned Ventura being laid up in a San Diego hospital. So either Jesse got sick around this time or that's an eerie bit of foreshadowing. That very well could be true. I just assumed that the illness immediately took him out of the ring rather than allowing him to work on a regular basis for the next 18 months, including a run against Hogan, a match on SNME, and a spot on the MSG show 2 weeks before the first WrestleMania.
