Red Baron 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 ..... God damn idiots in stands. Regular season I don't mind. Game 6 in an NLCS game and just .5 of an inning left to the world series...HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!!! Its a god damn baseball, you can buy a brand new one for 5-10 dollars somewhere in a sports store and be happy about. Fans like these should be tossed out, especially this is the Cubs...CHICAGO FUCKING CUBS!!!! I don't care if it was a kid or not, the parent or person should stay away from the ball...now it could cost them the world series trip because of this and quite possibly another Yankee Title (which I do not want). Yes Gongzalez error was significant, it wouldn't do much if the idiot fans left there hands in their pockets or drinking their beer instead.... Idiots... Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I'm pretty much speechless after that. I mean who could ever imagine one bonehead completely turning the tide against his team. There's still game 7 but the Marlins have all the momentum.
Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted October 15, 2003 That fan didn't cause anything. A couple fans tried to grab the thing,it was a foul ball. An plus look how little room there is for a fan to move away from a foul ball, not much. Yeah it was a stupid idea, but that doesn't give assholes the right to throw beer on the fan. Don't blame the fan, blame the cubs they blew it. Dusty baker was cheap in trying to blame that fan.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Exactly...The evidence shows that It wasn't only the fans fault...
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted October 15, 2003 You can clearly see the guys holding a hand over his glove. He was interfering.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Alou would easily have had the ball, he didn't even extend all the way because of the fans arms sticking out. Plus 2 outs...different stratigies than just 1 out, so it would be a completly different ball game, wouldn't it.

LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Sure, it wasn't all his fault. But shouldn't you at least give your player the chance to catch the ball? It just seems to make sense.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I don't understand the Billy Goat curse. Apparently, a long time ago, a Chicagoan wanted to take a billy goat into a tavern and was denied. In return, he put a curse on the Cubs that they would never win another World series. Now THAT'S a curse.
Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Sure, it wasn't all his fault. But shouldn't you at least give your player the chance to catch the ball? It just seems to make sense. Yeah i agree he should of,but blame the who cubs collasped in the inning, blaming one fan is just stupid. Perhaps the fan didn't see alou? Yeah it's kind of stupid that he didn't see him,but where he is sitting it would be kind of hard to see alou jumping. I don't think alou would of got that. He did have a chance, but that ball appear it was gonna hit that rail.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I can understand the fucking Curse of the Bambino but the billy goat makes no sense... So why don't I just curse the Marlins?
Guest MentallyNormal Report post Posted October 15, 2003 But what would you use a curse for the marlins?
ISportsFan 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I love how Cubs fans have claimed they've waited for a title for 95 years, but then they go ahead and ruin it for themselves. Seriously, that was something that turned the tide of the entire game. But the Cubs still needed to produce, and had ample opportunity. The easy grounder to Gonzalez for an inning-ending double play was muffed. Baker made the decision to bring Prior out and THEN make Farnsworth issue an intentional walk (contrary to every intelligent baseball idea in history). The Cubs (along with the Cub fans) messed this one up, you can't blame it all on the Cubs fan.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 If the fire sale a few years ago didn't curse the Marlins, I don't know what will.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I will curse the SEA! All Fish will be dead. *Raises Cursing Stick* *Points at Globe...Taps Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean and just for good measure the Colorado river* See...Marlins are effectivlt cursed. NYU 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Do the Marlins even need a curse? There is NO chance in hell they would ever beat the Yankees. HHH cleanly putting over RVD is more realistic than the Marlins beating the Yankees 4 times out of 7. It will never happen. Which is why Fox ratings will plummet. And my argument will be proved correct when I say the Yankees are destructive to baseball.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 It's not like the Marlins owner will trade, cut, or change the whole line up next season for salary cap reasons.

The Tino Standard 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I don't understand the Billy Goat curse. Apparently, a long time ago, a Chicagoan wanted to take a billy goat into a tavern and was denied. In return, he put a curse on the Cubs that they would never win another World series. Now THAT'S a curse. You're half-right. A tavern owner brought his billy goat to Wrigley Field to watch the Cubs. Because of the obvious odor a goat has, fans around it complained and the guy (and his goat) were ejected. Bitter at being kicked out of the stadium, the tavern owner put a curse on the Cubs and it's held up ever since. As for tonight... sweet merciful Christ. I've grown up a die-hard Cleveland sports fan. Browns/Elway, Cavs/Jordan and Indians/$#@%ing Marlins... That loss tonight- about the only loss more painful I've ever endured was Game 7 against the Fish. My roommate is from Chicago... I think I'm going to make sure he doesn't pick up any sharp objects or make any dashes towards the balcony tonight....
Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 I don't understand the Billy Goat curse. Apparently, a long time ago, a Chicagoan wanted to take a billy goat into a tavern and was denied. In return, he put a curse on the Cubs that they would never win another World series. Now THAT'S a curse. Well from the story I read in the L.A. Times, In 1945 the owner of the billy goat after being denied entrance declared " That this will be the last world series ever played in Wrigley Field" So if this is true then the Cubs have to get to the World Series to break the curse, not win it. Which might explain what happened tonight.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 Wow. Now THAT'S a curse. None of this Bambino shit that just gets pulled out of thin air for dramatic effect.

TSA09 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2003 The fan broke no MLB rules, but he did break common sense rules. Hell on Sports Center all they could do was laugh and say "I hope that guy doesn't get killed" If the Cubs do end up losing this series that fan will get more flack. Watch this guy kill himself or something over this.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 15, 2003 It's a shame...a fan does this in NY and he is a hero...and he actually broke the rules... This kid just does what everyone else does and is subject to death via mob...
