Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Well having learnt more about the game and taking the advice here, I started again with the 49ers and am 6 - 0 on Pro level (a level I have consistantely struggled with). I have made no trades and rely on Owens just outpacing people to get the long ball from Garcia. Quick question though - on offence I always choose my own plays. On defence I choose Ask Madden about 50% of the time - I haven't really noticed if it is better than the defence I choose. Is Ask Madden an ok option on the defence? It is and it isn't. It doesn't account for audibles and frankly, I'd rather imput the defense myself as I find Ask Madden doesn't really work about 35% of the time and of that 35% of the time usually 70% of that ends up in the endzone because it turns out to be a blunder. To put that into actual numbers and mean something: Take 35% of 100 plays and you get 35. Now take 70% of 35 and you get 24.5 plays. So out of 100 plays, you've got about 24.5 plays go wrong and end up getting points (not necessarily touchdowns). Personally, since I know I do about as good as that, I might as well play the defense myself.
A Happy Medium 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2003 BTW, the 46 defense works if u have two speed burners at cb who can recover after being beat, and a good safety. Having a good passrush is important as well. I was up in Anchorage ...and damn did I kick some ass.
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted October 25, 2003 I don't like using the 4-6 too much actually. I like to stick with the 4-3 more than anything.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Report post Posted October 25, 2003 Well I am on Pro level as I am still learning American Football! GOt some f the fundamentals down, but other than that, I am still a little lost. I will start to call my own defensive plays now but I notice the AI offence often throws short, snappy passes that nearly always complete - if I was looking to improve the guys who 'mark' the wide receivers and my secondary, what attributes am I looking for other than Awareness and Speed? Guest FrigidSoul Report post Posted October 25, 2003 I actually traded the game recently because I couldn't afford to get it online, I don't know anybody I could just sit back and play it with, I made defensive schemes which on the hardest level of difficulty had me averaging 6-7 INTs a game. Good Coverage LBers will kill the short passing game. See I made my own defenses (Big sports fan and always have had a love for defense so I tried my own shit) and I set-up something where it was basically a 3-4 but with 2 OLBers rather than middle. Also the extra OLBer sometimes slipped into coverage while a speedy CB blitzed thus causing the QB to throw it to the other side where I had a LBer in QB spy mode...so he just batted it down or caught it. Also sometimes I would have the pass rush force the QB to one side where I would have a CB sitting there in QB Spy while a safety and a LBer covered the WR so as he rolled out to that side and tried to run for some yardage the CB would kill him. My defenses also allowed a net rushing gain of 50yards per game on average. Of course that was my base defense...once I had them at like 2nd and 15 or 3rd and 10+ I would just go into a Quarter package, at the most I would give up 5-7yards but no first down
