There's precious little to choose between England, Australia and New Zealand. the Aussies need to learn how to handle the ball. they missed so many oppurtunies(spl) in the match against the pumas.

Its time to honour a proper sporting acheivement in this folder and acclaim the new world champions. The Aussies suddenly try to act all humble in defeat after slagging England off from the minute they got off the plane. I heard one newspaper over there pathetically trying to save face by declaring the final the best game ever played!!?? Yeah, right. If it would have been at Twickenham England would have won comfortably. Anyway, god bless Johnny Wilkinson, Martin Johnson (great to see a Tigers captain lifting the trophy) & the other players and Clive Woodward for their ahievement. 40,000 England fans were in attendance along with an estimated 50,000 extra in Sydney itself = The best fans and the best team.

(It might've been a sports show recap at 2:30 in the morning), I saw someone getting kicked full-bore right in the ribs, and then in the face. I don't have a clue about the rules or history, but it's safe to say I like the sport. Nanks, you seem to have access to brutal australian sports photos, post something ugly, because this stuff gets no coverage here.

The major sports networks and whatnot, barely cover it. However, if you have a dish, order Fox Sports World. They showed every single game, granted on a two or three day delay, but they showed them all, several of them twice or more. So there's no excuse for not seeing any rugby. If you want to, you don't have to try too hard. I'd like to congratulate England on winning, and it's good that a northern hemisphere team finally won the cup. However, I'd like everyone to know that if America ever took rugby seriously, it'd never leave our hands. But that's not what this thread is about, so I won't get into that. Perhaps we can share past world cup or just regular rugby memories in this, or another thread. Hooray for such ideas. Finally, I must ask the English fans a question: Why do you guys sing "Swing Low, Swee Chariot" at the games? I see no relation between a song about a slave who's life is so horrible that he wants to die and be taken to heaven then live and the sport of rugby. Especially sung by English fans. It seems very out of place to me.

I seem to recall American's saying that about football (proper football, not American Football) a few years back and, well, the US isn't the greatest of national teams. Though I did laugh a few months back when I saw an ESPN poll asking who the best player in the world was - there was Beckham, there was Zidane, and there was 3 other American's who I had never heard of The only player who would be on that list is Zidane!

It seems very out of place to me. We are basically singing about being in despair and hoping for the england team to sweep us up and carry us home to victory, its just one of those songs that caught on, and is now the unnofficial anthem
