SmackDown recap is up

Recommended Posts

they take Gowen down with a double uranage

JESUSFUCKINGMOTHERFUCKINGJESUSCHRIST!

IT'S NOT A URANAGE!

A uranage is a judo throw.

http://www.judoinfo.com/images/animations/...lue/uranage.htm

"Uranage, or back throw, is a sacrifice throw and usually performed as a counter throw when your opponent tries a hip throw. It is also used as a defense against a blow to the head in the nage-no-kata.

As your opponent steps in close for a forward throw like koshi guruma or another hip throw, wrap your arms around your opponent's waist, lift strongly while leaning back and thrusting the hips up. Throw the opponent over your shoulder as you fall onto your back."

And even in wrestling terms, a uranage is not a rockbottom. There is a turning/pivoting motion..

What they did was more of an STO (SpaceTornadoOgawa). Ogawa being a judo master. The technique in Judo is called a O Soto Otoshi (or an O Soto Guruma depending on how they choose to land)

Um... Triple R and JHawk, isn't the move actually a double STO?

Cause a STO is exactly that done onto Zack, except two people doing it. Instead of a single person.

At least that's what it's called in any of the SD games, so I might be off with the name, but the game calls it an STO, so I'm assuming that's what it is.

Edit:

Oh and good review of Smackdown. You pretty much summed up all my thoughts on the whole show.

And if there is a booking report for this week, personally, I thought Raw was better. That's how fucked up Smackdown was to me.

Yeah it was a double STO leg trip, they never lifted Zach. It gave me giggles since I'm a huge mark for the move.

I thought it was an STO. Done with two guys.

A lot swifter and more impactful than the version in SD games that's for sure...

Hm... I don't think Sakoda(?) and Yang will be able to do that on everyone. And isn't Sakoda like 6'3, wasn't that his discribed height? He didn't really look that much bigger than Yang or Tajiri.

Still though, sweet move. I like it.

But isn't the Rock Bottom termed a uranage suplex, which I assume means it's different than the uranage used in judo. People just say "uranage" isntead of adding "suplex" behind it.

And nice job, JHawk. How long does it take you to write these things? You get them up damn fast.

But it's not a suplex (the rockbottom). It's a slam. How in gods name does it look like a suplex? It's closer to a chokeslam, or a bossman slam. The Uranage that Hiro Hase does -with the pivot and the headdropping- could be considered a suplex because it's more akin to a t-bone or hand/arm side suplex.

Two things:

1. I don't watch judo and have to go with what I know, so the move was sort of but not really a Rock Bottom, so I gave it the closest name I could think of.

2. I do the recap as the show airs, and it takes me about 45 minutes to edit and post it on average.

The move was closer to a rock bottom than a uranage - even in wrestling terms. If you didn't know what to call it, then don't call it by any name (unless you want to make up your own) - that just leads to more confusion.

What should I call it, a "slam type thingie"? Ooo, real descriptive. If the name's wrong, I apologize, but it's not like ESPN has judo tournaments on all the time.

At least I'm not in Tony Schiavone mode and calling everything a sidewalk slam.

It doesn't really matter, because it will have some Japanese mafia name attached to it within two weeks that I'll end up using.

But it does matter. Ignorance spreads. This "Uranage" thing is indicative of that.

Can we at least agree that it's a cool looking move?

By the way, since we're on the subject of judo moves, what does the sambo suplex look like? That's another move that gets confused for a rock bottom and/or a uranage by people. (Not me on this one).

A sambo suplex (at least, the one from the No Mercy games) *is* a uranage (in Japanese Pro Wrestling terms). Why it's called a sambo suplex, I'm not sure. I know they call the Russian Neck Drop after Alexandre Karelin, the Russian Hook Punch after Bas Rutten (since both Rutten and Karelins faces can be found in the CAW as well as in the japanese version), so Sambo suplex should belong to someone... but then again, Bas Rutten is from Holland, not Russia, so mistakes can be made.

Guest Choken One

So if they won't call the group Yakuda because Tajiri is intelligent enough not to piss off the REAL mafia group...what WILL they be called?

Knowing WWE they will call em "The Spyders".

Um... Choken One, it's Yakuza. Not Yakuda.

Edna: Well, well, if it isn't Marge Simpson and her gangland cronies.

Maude: Your goon squads certainly gave you the edge in the mobile snack business. But I'm afraid we've outdone you once again. Hiroshi, Yukio... [steps aside to reveal a group of armed Japanese] Perhaps you've heard of the Yakuza -- the Poison Fists of the Pacific Rim -- the Japanese mafia.

Agnes: They'll kill ya five times before you hit the ground!

*The two groups step forward, and soon the Simpsons field is the theater of punches and flying ninja stars.*

Marge: Homie, maybe we should go inside.

Homer: But, Marge, that little guy hasn't done anything yet. Look at him. [the man in white suit stands still amidst the fight] He's going to do something and you know it's going to be good.

*Marge pulls him back into the house and shuts the door*

*Inside, a loud ninja yell can be heard, followed by a thump*

Homer: Aw...

*Bodies fly outside the kitchen window while Homer and Marge have coffee. Homer apologizes for failing to help, but Marge tells him she loves him for he always try to. Sleepy kids step into the kitchen.*

Lisa: [yawning] What's going on outside?

Marge: Oh it's just a mob war. Go back to sleep, honey.

*the "little guy" is tossed through the kitchen window*

Man: [wiping glass from his suit and bowing] Forgive-a-ness, please!

*runs out the backdoor to return to the fight*

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

Can we just agree that the move done on the one legged man was not a double leg trip? I mean how hard is that?

I absolutly crack up whenever the Simpsons yakuza guy laughs. "A ha, ha, a ha ha, ha ha ha!"
