Wrath Losing Matches...

Recommended Posts

Returning to the SJL commentators table after a commercial break, SWF Tag Team Champions 'Judge' William Hearford and Ejiro Fasaki, as well as Annie Eclectic, are sat in their usual positions, as around them the crowd are pumped up and incredibly noisy.

Judge- Welcome back to Wrath...Ejiro, any thoughts on the show so far...

Ejiro- Err, no comment.

Judge- Yes...probably best. A lot still to come, including our main event...Todd Royal's first ever World Title defense, facing the former champ Insane Luchador.

Annie- But up next, we have a mysterious 'debutant'...although that is in doubt...it's the so-called Unknown Warrior facing the new European Champion Landon Maddix.

Judge- BUT...lets not forget, that title is not on the line, and also it's hardcore rules...Maddix's first ever. And a lot of speculation over the internet about who the Unknown Warrior really is...everyone from Jeff Hardy, to The Memphis Eel, to even you and I have been mentioned in connection with his identity Ejiro.

Ejiro- The internet...phff! What do they know?

In the ring, SJL announcer Funyon stands in the middle of the ring with microphone in hand, as match referee Sexton Hardcastle stands in the corner behind him.

Funyon- Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for one fall, and will be fought under hardcore rules...no holds barred, falls count anywhere!

The opening chords of Marilyn Manson's "The Fight Song" start up as they have done so many times on SJL programming, as out from the back immediately steps Landon Maddix, complete with SJL European Championship belt around his waist. Stopping on the stage, Maddix looks around for a few moments, before smiling and wagging his finger, before stepping back through the curtain. The crowd sound confused, as for a few seconds Maddix seemingly disappears...before returning through the curtain, this time dragging a metal shopping cart behind him, filled to the brim with hardcore weaponry, to a huge pop from the crowd.

Funyon- Introducing first, from Huron, South Dakota...we weighs 206 pounds, and he is the new SJL European Champion...LAAANDOOON LA-CUUCAAARAAACHAAA MAAADDIIIX!!!

Maddix throws up his hands, before wheeling the shopping cart down the ramp, and pushing it up against the ring apron. He then removes his SJL European Title belt, rolls into the ring and raises the gold high in the air, a big smile on his face.

Judge- Well, we've mentioned that Landon has never been in a hardcore match before...but he's come prepared for his first hasn't he?

Ejiro- Judge...it takes more than weapons to be hardcore.

Judge- But they help right?

Ejiro- Oh yeah, definitely.

Putting the belt to one side, Maddix starts to stretch in the ring, preparing for the match mentally and physically...but as he does so, with no music, or any sort of introduction, a figure steps out from the back...kitted out in an all black ninja style costume, the only part of his body not covered being his eyes...very visible green eyes. Slowly the Unknown Warrior paces down the ramp, glaring at Maddix the entire way. Meanwhile, Funyon confusedly scrambles through his cue-cards, looking for something to say.

Funyon- And the opponent...he is from Calgary, Alberta Canada...and weighs...227 pounds...he is...the Unknown WAAARRRIIIOOORRR!!!

Ejiro- Well, judging from the lack of crowd reaction, we can’t rule out Tom Flesher being the Unknown Warrior.

Judge- Ha, good one partner.

Ejiro- Well…I try.

Quickly Funyon abandons the ring, as Warrior gets to the apron and stares at Maddix...before reaching to the side, and taking a singapore cane from the weapon cart. The Warrior threateningly smacks the cane off the ring apron, before slowly making his way into the ring.

Ejiro- Ha! Maddix brought all those weapons to the ring, and not only did he just leave them outside the ring, he let this Unknown Warrior get a weapon for free!

Maddix stands looking worried, as the bell rings, and the match is underway. As the Unknown Warrior stands across the ring starting to show-off some tricks with the singapore cane, Maddix takes a couple of steps back, and picks up his title belt, before walking back towards Warrior. Wisely Maddix holds the belt in front of him, as Warrior steps forward, and takes a quick swipe at Landon with the cane...Maddix though suddenly raises the belt up, and manages to block the shot. Again Warrior swings with the cane, but again Maddix blocks the shot with the belt, and quickly hits a kick to the back of Warrior's knee. Following up, Maddix hits a couple more kicks to the knee, before hitting one to the face, sending Warrior retreating to the corner.

Judge- He may not have a weapon, but Maddix is not doing too bad here...

Ejiro- What the hell is that belt if it's not a weapon.

Judge- He's not using it as a weapon is what I meant...

Ejiro- Sure, whatever...

Dropping the belt, Maddix charges towards the corner looking to squash the Warrior. At the last moment, Warrior sidesteps causing Maddix to run chest first into the turnbuckle, and stumble backwards...

THWACK!

...into a singapore cane shot to the back of the head. Maddix falls on his front, but is quickly turned over and pinned by the Warrior...

...ONE...

...T...

...quick kickout by Maddix.

Quickly Warrior goes back for the cane, and as Maddix gets back up, he gets the cane wrapped around his knee viciously, to 'OOOH's from the crowd. With a look of determined pain, Maddix clutches his leg as Warrior swings again...this time though, Maddix jumps over it, and upon landing leaps back with a leg lariat, catching Warrior in the jaw. The cane goes flying, as Maddix quickly gets up and stomps away at the masked combatant.

Annie- Well you're right Judge...so far, Maddix has used his speed and wrestling skill rather than weapons in this match...

Ejiro- Despite bringing a trolley full of them down with him.

Annie- Maybe it was a psychological move...

The Unknown Warrior withstands the stomps and gets to his feet, although still feeling the effects. Meanwhile Maddix is walking over towards the cane...but Warrior suddenly breaks into a sprint. As Maddix bends down to pick the cane up, Warrior dives forward with a bulldog, driving Maddix to the mat. Some light applause is given from the crowd for that, as Warrior is quickly up, and walking to one corner. Ducking out of the ring, Warrior reaches out to the weapon cart and pulls a couple of street signs from the mass of metal and wood, throwing them to the side before grabbing a trash can lid.

Ejiro- Well, if goody-two-shoes Maddix won't use the weapons...maybe this guy will.

With the lid in hand, Warrior charges forward, only for Maddix to roll under a wild swing and retreat to the ropes. Again Warrior charges, and Maddix this time ducks and backdrops Warrior over the top rope...but the masked man manages to land on the apron with great agility. Slowly Maddix turns around, not realizing Warrior is behind him until he gets the trash can lid smacked over his head! As Maddix holds his head, Warrior raises the lid again...

SMACK!

...and again it's crashed over Landon's head. Warrior stops for a moment, and raises his hands up, as if taunting the crowd he is now looking at...but suddenly, Maddix fires a flurry of forearms to the gut of Warrior, doubling him over. Wrenching the trash can lid away, Maddix smacks Warrior over the back of the head, to a pop from the crowd, before grabbing hold of the top rope.

Suddenly Warrior pops up, and goes for a right hand, but Maddix blocks, and hits a shoulder to the gut...before grabbing the rope, and slingshotting himself over Warrior and landing on the outside, pulling Warrior off the apron in one fluid motion and driving him to the concrete with a powerbomb, the splat of Warrior's body bouncing off the concrete echoing around the arena!!!

Judge- Rolling powerbomb, off the apron to the floor!

Annie- And you could hear the Unknown Warrior's body hitting the floor...and sickening thud, and you can see the pain in his eyes.

HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!

The Unknown Warrior lays on the concrete, his body clenched in pain, as suddenly Maddix releases where he is, and makes a cover...Hardcastle just rolling out of the ring in time...

SLAP!

...ONE...

SLAP!

...TWO...

...T...

KICKOUT!

Quickly Maddix jumps up and grabs the shopping cart, throwing a trash can from it into the ring before getting behind the wheels of the cart...stopping and holding up a hand to cheers from the crowd. Slowly Warrior gets back to his feet, as Maddix breaks into a run with the cart and looks to run him down...

...Warrior jumps up to the apron to avoid it though, and hits a kick to Maddix's head. Maddix falls back, as Warrior drops to his knees, holding his back in obvious dis-comfort. This gives Maddix time to fight back with a punch to the gut, and a second which sends Warrior back into the ring.

Judge- Well...Maddix has the advantage again now...god knows what internal injuries this Unknown Warrior may have suffered from that powerbomb to the floor.

Ejiro- That's solid concrete Judge...what do you expect he's suffered internally?

Annie- He just said, he doesn't know.

Ejiro- Who asked you Annie?

Annie- Your momma did, but I said no...

Judge- Ok, please stop.

Maddix jumps back onto the apron and waits for Warrior to regain his feet, before jumping to the top rope, and springing off with a flying clothesline. Quickly Maddix gets back up, wasting no time in grabbing a street sign and going back over to Warrior. The ninja dressed Warrior however sees Landon coming, grabs a hold of the Euro Champ's tights and pulls him forward, face first into the top turnbuckle! As Landon drops to his knees, Warrior quickly grabs the second street sign and begins to stalk Maddix, the sign clasped in his hand. Slowly Maddix turns around as Warrior swings with the sign...

...as Maddix does the same with his...

...and both men connect at the same time!! Both fall to the mat, both street signs go flying, and both look to be knocked out.

*clap clap*

LETS GO MADDIX! LETS GO MADDIX! LETS GO MADDIX!

Referee Hardcastle checks both men for signs of consciousness, before shaking his head and looking towards the timekeeper's table...

ONE!

Judge- Hardastle's starting his count, both men look to be out cold.

Ejiro- This is a straight fight...a gutcheck...these men need to get back to their feet if possible.

TWO!

Slowly Warrior seems to stir, but is still unable to get back up. Maddix however is still out cold.

THREE!

Warrior starts to get back up, with a glazed over look in his eyes.

FOU-NO!

Hardcastle stops the count, as Warrior gets back to his feet and quickly drives his boot into Maddix's head. Again Warrior stomps on Maddix, before grabbing a handful of hair and pulling Landon up. Out on his feet, Maddix is unable to react as Warrior swings back with a spinning heel kick...connecting with Landon's jaw, but also driving his head to the mat, in almost a reverse Fame-asser move. And still, rather than taking the foot away, Warrior keeps the leg across Maddix's throat in a choke-out move.

Judge- He's got it...he calls this the Blackout, and this is a choke hold...perfectly legal with hardcore rules!

Maddix is now awake, throwing his hands out looking for an escape as the breath is kept from getting to his lungs. Wrenching back, Warrior continues to choke the European Champion out, as gradually the crowd begin to react to Landon's plight. Hardcastle is meanwhile checking Landon for a tapout or submission, but the champ refuses to give in, and starts to try and fight back.

LANDON! LANDON! LANDON!

With the crowd solidly behind him, Maddix tries to get his arm in between his throat and Warrior's leg to free himself, Warrior responding by tightening the choke.

Ejiro- Landon's blacking out. What a European Champion! A champion to be proud of, unlike that Royal fellow, eh Annie?

Annie- He's fighting back...if you were watching the match rather than taking potshots at me, you'd realise...

Judge- And he's nearly free!

Maddix has successfully got under Warrior's leg with his arm, and is now using all the arm strength he has to raise Warrior's leg in the air...Warrior suddenly breaks free though, and drives his leg down across Landon's face! Abandoning the choke, Warrior quickly makes a cover...

...ONE...

...TWO...

...T...

..H..

...KICKOUT!

Warrior slams his hand down on the mat in anger, before rolling to his feet and pulling the trash can over from beside him. The European Champion tries to get to his feet, but Warrior quickly hits a stiff soccer(or sawca, depending on where you're from) style kick to the ribs of Landon. Despite this, Landon again tries to get up, but gets kicked in the ribs again, Warrior suddenly stopping to favour his own ribs, still hurting from earlier. Again Maddix tries to fight his way to his feet, as Warrior goes for another kick, but Landon catches the foot.

Annie- He went for that kick one too many times...

Judge- And now, Maddix is trying to fight back...OH! Maybe not.

The fight back is quickly stopped as Warrior stoops down and punches Maddix in the back of the head. Now Warrior allows Maddix to his feet, pushing the groggy youngster into the turnbuckles and hitting a hard boot to the gut. Maddix seems hurt enough, so the Unknown Warrior walks over to the opposite corner, raising one arm in the air as he goes. Getting to the opposite corner, Warrior suddenly sprints back, Gore-ing Maddix in the corner, and doubling the kid over.

Quickly Warrior throws Maddix to the mat and makes a pin attempt...

...ONE...

...TWO...

...T...

...H...

KICKOUT!

Again Warrior's body language is of obvious frustration, as he pulls Maddix's limp body up and throws it to the corner again. Again Warrior makes his way over to the opposite corner, as Maddix seems to be hiding something behind his back. Not seeing it, Warrior charges forward, but Maddix suddenly does the same, flying forward with a spectacular flying street sign shot to the head!!!

Judge- Maddix from nowhere, indenting that street sign with Warrior's head!

Ejiro- This kid keeps pulling that extra energy from somewhere...and I don't have a clue where from!

Now Warrior is out cold, as slowly Maddix starts to get to his feet. He too is feeling the effects of the repeated blows to the head through the match, stumbling as he gets to his feet and grabs the street sign again. As he gains his breath, Maddix starts to fire the crowd up, as Warrior gets to his feet also...to be met with a hard street sign shot!

Judge- DAMN! That'll scramble your brain cells.

Ejiro- Scramble? That'll turn them into mush...which...they are already I suppose...

Judge- You just have that way with words don't you partner?

Still Warrior stays on his feet, as Maddix reels back...

SMACK!

And connects with a second shot...which STILL doesn't put Warrior down. Looking a little surprised, Maddix takes a couple of steps back, and charges forward with a running shot...

SSSMMMAAAAACK!!!!!

A deafening sound of metal and flesh echoes through the arena, as finally Warrior goes down, and the crowd respond with cheers. Smiling, Maddix grabs the trash can and drags it over towards him...but behind him, Warrior is ALREADY getting up!

Annie- Man, you want to talk about fresh-holds of pain...this guy has a high one!

Ejiro- And you don't say that often!

Reaching forward, Warrior spins Maddix around and goes for a quick right. Maddix ducks it, and hits one of his own, before steeping back and going for a superkick...this time however Warrior ducks. Confusedly Maddix turns around, into a boot to the gut and an instantaneous Evenflow DDT ONTO THE TRASH CAN!!!

OOOHHHHH!!!

HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!

Judge- Good god...

Ejiro- Well, that was impressive. VERY impressive.

Judge- Landon Maddix's head just got crushes into that metal trash can...this must be all. Warrior just needs to make a cover here.

As Maddix lays face down on the compacted trash can, Warrior rolls over and out of the ring, ducking down and lifting up the apron skirt for some reason. Rummaging around for a few second, Warrior returns from under the ring...dragging behind him...A TABLE!!! The crowd pop, as Warrior heaves the table up onto the apron, and slides the wood into the ring.

Annie- This guy obviously isn't finished yet...

Ejiro- You think?

Judge- Well...this is taking things too far. He has the match won...he's probably disfigured the kid's face...

Ejiro- But we don't know who this guy is, and we also don't know what his agenda is. He could be here to cripple every SJLer there is for all we know.

Judge- Well...you may be right. That's the scary thing.

Ejiro- What...that I'm right?

Judge- No...well...yeah, kind of.

Landon is still out cold in amongst the metal can, as Warrior re-enters the ring, and takes his time in setting up the table in the centre of the ring. As he locks the legs into place, Warrior grabs the singapore cane again and looks down at Maddix, who is still yet to stir.

LANDON! LANDON! LANDON!

All around him, the crowd are chanting Maddix's name, prompting Warrior to look around at them. Meanwhile, the chants seem to do their job, as very slowly Maddix seems to be coming around. Upon seeing this, Warrior throws the cane down, and threateningly slams his hand down across the table. Maddix is still trying to get back up, as Warrior walks over and gives him a helping hand...a handful of hair yanking Landon up. The kid is totally deadweight, as Warrior heaves Maddix over towards the table, slamming him headfirst into the wood as they get there.

Judge- This mysterious person has some evil intentions for Maddix here...

Annie- But what are they? What has he got planned?

Slowly Landon gets to his feet. Hitting a boot to the gut, Warrior doubles over Maddix before pulling him into a powerbomb position. All around the arena the crowd are on their feet, as Unknown Warrior heaves Maddix up across his shoulder. With Landon's limp body draped across his shoulder, Warrior takes a step closer to the table.

Suddenly, Landon starts to struggle. Warrior notices this, and throws himself forward with a Dominator attempt...only Maddix isn't there to be Dominatored...he's scooted out the back. Warrior turns around, as Maddix grabs the singapore cane...

...THHAAAWAAACK...

...Maddix smacks Warrior in the head with the singapore cane, the crowd cheering wildly as Warrior falls backwards, slumped across the table.

Judge- Looks like the tables…have been turned.

Ejiro- Ooh, good one partner.

Annie- Meh, mood mon martner.

Quickly Maddix rolls Warrior onto the table fully, before quickly going to the corner, and climbing to the top rope. The crowd are on their feet…

…but so too is the Unknown Warrior, who suddenly starts climbing the ropes as well. Maddix quickly adjusts and starts to fire off right hands, rocking Warrior, but not enough as he comes back with a right of his own. Warrior now fires away with rights, until suddenly Maddix floats over, going for a rolling powerbomb. This time, Warrior knows what’s coming and quickly jumps from the ropes, before avalanching Maddix in the corner! The Euro Champ staggers out of the corner, as Warrior nails a boot, and quickly picks Maddix up in a powerbomb position…but instead of powerbombing him, Warrior leaves Maddix hanging upside down.

Judge- This is his finishing move…apparently, he drops the guy down on his neck…and we all know how weak Maddix’s neck is…

Annie- Yeah, but not his arms…look what he’s grabbed.

Indeed, Maddix in his upside down state has grabbed his European Title belt. With great leg strength, Maddix forces himself back up in the powerbomb position…before driving the belt into the forehead of the ninja suited Unknown Warrior!!!

RRRAAAAAHHH!!!

The crowd cheer Maddix’s escape, as Warrior staggers backwards. Maddix suddenly lunges forward, connecting with a superkick which causes Warrior to again fall onto the table, and bring more cheers from the crowd. Quickly Maddix drags the occupied table nearer to the ropes with all the strength he has, before climbing up to the top rope. With the crowd on their feet Maddix stops on the top rope, and raises his arms high in the air…suddenly springing off the ropes,, and driving all his body weight onto and through the Warrior, crushing the table beneath him!

Judge- Death From Above!!! Maddix hit it, and it’s all over folks!

Quickly Maddix rolls over, and nods his head along with the count…

…ONE…

…TWO…

…T…

...H…

…R…

…E…

…KICKOUT!!!!!

Maddix looks totally shocked, as Warrior’s raised shoulder stays raised in a symbol of his desperate escape.

Judge- How the hell did he kick out?

Ejiro- This guy must have one hell of a high threshold of pain.

Maddix gets back to his feet quickly, and grabs his belt again, as Warrior is actually on his feet, albeit clutching his back in pain. Maddix hops to the middle rope, still holding his belt, as Warrior staggers over, grabbing the Singapore cane on his way. A wild swing with the cane is blocked by Maddix’s foot, and he then kicks the cane away before throwing the belt at Warrior. Surprised, Warrior manages to catch it…but also catches Maddix, as the kid dives off the middle rope, swinging around and drilling Warrior face first to the mat with the Crash Landon, Warrior’s face bouncing off the gold!!!

Annie- What innovation!!! Inadvertent innovation…innit?

Ejiro- What?

Annie- It’s over, that’s what!

Ejiro- You’re one weird woman.

Quickly Maddix rolls Warrior over, and hooks the leg…

…ONE…

…TWO…

…THREEEEE!!!

“The Fight Song” immediately starts up, as Maddix raises an arm in the air just as quickly…before grabbing his title belt from under Warrior’s face, and raising that in the air.

Judge- A victory for Maddix…and not a good opening match for this Unknown Warrior.

Ejiro- No wonder he wanted to debut under a mask.

Funyon- Here is your winner…THE SJL EUROPEAN CHAMPION…LAAANDOOON MAAADDIIIX!!!

Maddix raises the belt again in the air, before rolling from the ring, clearly smarting from the battle he’s been through, but just as clearly ecstatic at winning the match. Getting to the outside Maddix begins to walk up the ramp, but suddenly shakes his head and turns back, and rolling over the barricade, going into the crowd.

Judge- Where’s he going…

Annie- He’s going to celebrate with his fans!

Ejiro- Yeah…they’re in those four seats there…both of them. They need a seat for each ass-cheek.

Judge- Ejiro please!

Back in the ring the Unknown Warrior rolls from the ring, frustratedly slamming his hands down on the ring apron before slowly walking up the ramp, contemplating his mistakes in the match. Maddix meanwhile is making his way through the crowd, pausing momentarily in amongst the throng of people to raise his belt in the air.

Judge- Well…Landon Maddix, clearly happy to be the SJL European Champion…and even happier to win tonight. Up next…Manson, Aecas…and some guy who used to be World Champion. Stay tuned to SJL!

I dunno... Unknown Warrior's match seemed to have more flow, I guess. This one did seem a little more disjointed than your usual fare, Cucaracha-- you didn't do it at one shot, did you?

This was a VERY difficult match to mark. Warrior's match did have better flow, absolutely. While your finish was better than his, your match seemed drier than usual. Also, your commentary was a bit wooden. It seems that your Ejiro, Judge and Annie are kind of... just there.

One of the biggest things that bothered me was the street sign spot. There are spots in the match where the street signs put Warrior out cold, and then you have a series where he Masatos them. That, while it didn't cost you the match, wasn't well thought out.

I did think you made excellent use of the Euro belt as a weapon, and overall this was a Perfectly Acceptable Match. There were spots that made it rough, though, and Warrior's match didn't have quite as many. It was by no means perfect, but on the first read-through, I liked it better, and when I put it to the points he also came out on top.

That's been bothering me too..I can't seem to get that right at the moment.

Thanks for giving me some pointers...and Warrior's match was good, although the lack of spacing out bothered me personally if I'm honest, so I haven't compared the two. But all credit to him...hopefully I can do better next time.
