Why are you asking homework questions on a message board? And not even a trigonometry message board. That's what you have a teacher and a bunch of other jerks in your class for.

 

That question actually seems a little vague. Or maybe it's pretty direct, and I'm just ignorant about the particular concept here.

 

As best as I can tell you, a curve can never touch a vertical asymptote, if that's a serviceable answer to what you're asking. And, being a man of many myriad talents, I can also find the vertical and horizontal asymptotes of a given function.

 

Look, but don't touch.

Vertical? That's 'x is not equal whatever' right? If so, you just sub in x values close to it is what I've always done. Like for two, I just sub in 1.999999999 using a calculater.
