Markme123 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2003 I don't expect many (or any) answers but... How do you test the behavior of a function near a vertical asymptote. <talking about plotting here>
Guest subliminal_animal Report post Posted October 29, 2003 Why are you asking homework questions on a message board? And not even a trigonometry message board. That's what you have a teacher and a bunch of other jerks in your class for. That question actually seems a little vague. Or maybe it's pretty direct, and I'm just ignorant about the particular concept here. As best as I can tell you, a curve can never touch a vertical asymptote, if that's a serviceable answer to what you're asking. And, being a man of many myriad talents, I can also find the vertical and horizontal asymptotes of a given function. Look, but don't touch.

Guest JacK Report post Posted October 31, 2003 Vertical? That's 'x is not equal whatever' right? If so, you just sub in x values close to it is what I've always done. Like for two, I just sub in 1.999999999 using a calculater.
