Highland Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Is there any chance of this guy suddenly becoming good when he gets to the wwe? I mean everyone, even HTM, was harping over how talented Zack Gowen is, but when he arrived, he sucked balls. BUT, since everyone is saying Suzuki blows, will he miraculously prove everyone wrong, just like Zack did, but instead of sucking will actually have a hitherto unknown depth of workrate and talent?
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 So, why did they sign this guy? Is he a Japanese hoss? Bingo! Thats actually quite funny. But what about Akira Taue? He's a hoss.
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 The guy really, really, really sucks. He doesn't even run the ropes correctly. Slow as shit. A Japanese Nathan Jones. Wish they got Kendo Ka Shin instead, who was the other guy rumored. They could have gotten him over based on his shoot background. But I think he's under ironclad contract to AJPW. I *think.*
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 I think the "he only debuted in 2000" thing is kind of a cop out (I'm not saying that you said he'd ever develop into ANYTHING mind you...just in general). Chris Sabin has been a wrestler for 2 YEARS and he's already better than this guy will ever be.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Well, Sabin is hardly great is he?
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 He's greater than most people I see on my indy TV scanner. And certainly greater than Suzuke.
Guest TheHulkster Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 I seen Kenzo at the Albany Smackdown last week. His moves weren't very polished and he taunted a lot. He's a big guy though, so maybe he will be the Yakuza's muscle. He finished his opponent (Bobby Rude I think) off with a very ugly shining wizard. The man got some heat and he took advantage of it. That's the only real positive thing I can say.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 He'd be perfectly suited for the bodyguard role. I don't think much of him as a wreslter...but the role of a bodyguard would only call for someone to be Japanese and physically imposing...and he suits both. For that matter...Jimmy Yang isn't even Japanese is he?
2GOLD Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 So, he's the Japan version of Mr. Hughes?
Guest Jay Z. Hollywood Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 For that matter...Jimmy Yang isn't even Japanese is he? I'm pretty sure he actually is Japanese, but he's not from Japan. He's from Georgia.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 I thought he was Korean. That's what they announced him as from in MLW and I only think of him as Japanese because of his time in WCW.
Corey_Lazarus Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 "They all look the same anyways." -Typical non-Asian thoughts about Asians Kenzo Suckzuki is going to be stinking of my TV screen again...ugh. Well, at least it's free this time.
The Czech Republic Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 So, why did they sign this guy? Is he a Japanese hoss? In Japan he would be referred to as "hossu." In regard to the whole rugby thing, I can see Johnny Ace and Jim Ross going at it in the Talent Relations department. Ace: I want Japanese wrestlers! Ross: I want football players! Ace: No! Japanese! Ross: Football players! Both:...JAPANESE FOOTBALL PLAYERS! HHH: Good call, guys. ::poses, spits water::

Maybe five feet. RACISM~!
Golgo 13 Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Re: Yang I believe he's of Chinese descent, but was born in the US, either California or Georgia, from what I've read. But it's not like the WW(F)E hasn't done anything this before, passing off a reasonable likeness as someone from another culture. Yokozuna anyone?

Lei Tong Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 It's not a fact or anything, but I notice that 6'4 seems to be the height that Japanese wrestlers start to be considered noteworthy for their size.

And Fatu as the Sultan, and arguably Rikishi. Hmmm... Japanese hoss?
The Czech Republic Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 More like Japanese bitch-slapper if you ask me.
AndrewTS Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Where do "hossu" come from? Did Andre tour over there 20-some years ago, and net a bunch of Japanese ring rats?
