Tremendous ROH Rant I found...

You bring up the argument about attendance numbers, you can't look at just quality factors (which, honestly in my opinion I prefer Wildside over ROH, but that's not my argument here) You have to look at where they're running at. IWA MS and Wildside are running in rural areas where wrestling just isn't as strong as it used to be.

Wildside was running in Athens, where they were getting crowds comparable to ROH and CZW, but due to the venue owner dicking the wrestlers out of their payoffs they're no longer running there.

Their TV Tapings are held in an area where wrestling isn't as strong, but the venue is cheap to hold events in so they continue to run there.

I don't know about IWA MS since I don't attend their shows, but from the looks of where they're running its very similar to Wildside's.

If they were running in a strong area like Philadelphia, they would be drawing the same numbers, guaranteed.

Right, and what law is preventing them from moving the base of operations to Philly? The endless excuses are laughable, and it's not as if RoH only runs in Philly. They run in New Jersey, Philly, New York, Maryland, and Ohio. They will likely be expanding soon as well.

In addition, if it's only about being in Philly, is their upward trend in attendance related to a population spike in Philly? And why don't the other Philly promotions draw as well?

Well the fact that just about all of the workers live and work in the vicinity of GA, moving to Philly will be a nightmare.

Its not as easy as one would think.

As I said in the "Is ROH a Monopoloy" thread, it is all about good business decisions.

I find it extremly hard to believe that in the whole state of Georgia, there isn't one good populated area that Wildside can run that also has a good and inexpensive building. Wildside may be drawing the crowds that they are for the reasons you gave (I really don't know). However, there is nothing keeping them from running a better location and finding a somewhat cheap building there. Same goes for IWA-MS. From what I hear, they do very little advertising which is half their problem.

The attitude that those promotions are victims of circumstance and can't do anything to change it is BS. Just like the co-argument that ROH draws well because it is in a good location.

Actually it is harder than you think. They've tried to run Atlanta but the venue was just too expensive and it wasn't drawing enough to warrant running there. I mentioned Athens and what happened with that situation.

Wrestling is in such a down period right now its not a hot potato it once was. The people who run the venues usually don't want wrestling unless its something like the WWE or unless they can get a big payoff (like Gary Juster did with the Lucha Show held in the Gwinett Center, which drew more than a Smackdown Taping)

You're right, it is all about good business, and Wildside does a good job it for the most part, minimizing costs and maximing profit, that's why they'll continue to run where they run, because there's also a good talent pool hungry enough.
