EVIL~! alkeiper Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 So who's to say Dotel isn't? Dotel didn't pitch well when he closed, but NO ONE on the Astros staff that year could pitch worth a damn.
Dr. Tom Posted November 4, 2003 Report Posted November 4, 2003 Ron Shandler says a closer has to have three things: talent, opportunity, and guile, which he abbreviates as TOG. There are plenty of guys who have the first two, but never the third, and some who have the first and last but never got the second. If Dotel has the guile, we'll see it next year, because he certainly has the talent and he's getting the opportunity.

All anyone is saying it's not a lock he can close games succesfully.
