Guest Ronixis Report post Posted November 4, 2003 (edited) Well, Its Novemeber 4. And in one of the bigger towns in this country, an Election is starting up- one in which the City will either change, and become a New York/Denver like story, city nearly dead, but mayors made it bigger (Not Nessarlly better- thats conjecture) and saved the city. This is one Election, that will go down in histroy to be the most closest, and yet I feel as though that it should not really be this way. Yes, this is the Election, where the Incumbent Mayor (John Street) is under investgation by the FBI. (Yall heard the stories, the bug, the BlackBerry taken for invesgation, people being questioned- This is NOT Detroit). The Challenger (Sam Katz) had his name ranked all over the place. His wife nearly got Sexually Acosted, (And I when I mean by that, she was pushed around, and called names like Cunt and those sort names) One time, a Moltov Cocktail was thrown, into the North Philly headquarters of the Challenger. But of course- he is not perfect. He is being sued in a civil court, for a bad busness deal. The Challenger did want to give up infomation about the case to the Media, however, his lawyers stopped that from happing. So now, its November 4. The election is about to start. One way (Something new to me, but I am not sure to the rest of you guys) is now that Penn (the Ivy School) is doing. There are tracking voter turnout in real-time, in where they can tell where the turnout will go- That way, they could tell without using the the actual reports from the Polls, the winner of the race possibly long before the reports are in. In Theory. Now this crazy. I heard some news about fights in the some of the wards over signs. There also blocking people with Voter Turnout Passes... This is going to get crazy. Here is the site that has the data: http://www.politicspa.com/FEATURES/110403P...PHIARESULTS.htm More later. Edited November 4, 2003 by Ronixis
Guest MD2020 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 This is why I love this town. Election days are never boring. Usually, we have dead people voting, union thugs harassing the other side, signs ripped down, street money being passed to ward leaders, etc. I think Katz had a real shot at this before the bug was found. Unfortunately for him, the finding has shot Street up in the polls, because people think it's a Republican plot to get rid of him. Now, if the cops didn't find the bug, no one would know about it, but that doesn't get through to most people's heads. If I could vote here, (I'm in the suburbs now), I would vote for Katz. I think he's got the plans to take a bold step and save Philly. Also, after 50 years of one party dominating, it's time to throw out the bums and put new ones in. Probably not going to happen, though.
Guest LooseCannon Report post Posted November 4, 2003 I'm voting for Katz. Street's incompetence seems all too obvious, but unfortunately he's going to get re-elected.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2003 I also already voted for Katz, but the whole thing kind of worries me. It seems like this is going to be another one of those "Philly makes national news" times, and they're never for good things. I agree that Katz was in good shape until the FBI bug was found. Then Street turned the election into an issue of him being held down and persecuted instead of being about the fact that 8% of the city moved out during his time as mayor. Allen Iverson, have you been a bad boy? Been hearing about this story, and I can't believe Street got a bounce for having bugged phones. Well, actually I do, but that's not the point. I live on the other side of the state and thank God our incompetent leaders are much more low-key...

How does your side of the state feel about Rendell doing the Eagles post-game show every Sunday?
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Yeah, but a Philly guy is the governor!! Which explains all the proposed tax increases. You know what's funny MD? I left PA in '00. I come back in August and hear the following, among other things: * State income tax to go up. * Occupational Privilege tax to go up. * Some goofy tax on cell phones and long distance calls proposed. * Talk of raising sales tax. * Turnpike tolls to increase. I'm trying to figure out why I bothered coming back...
Guest Ronixis Report post Posted November 5, 2003 Election Results: Data Coming In still, but with 95% Of the Wards Reporting: John Street Democrat X 259,298 58% Samuel Katz Republican 183,162 41% This race was crazy. I can say with firm standing that nearly 98% (!) of the Black Vote voted- And he had somewhere nearly 20 to 40% of the White Vote (This is Mostly Dems) This is some damn shit. And if you look at the site in my first post, it did not look good. If Katz had a bit more votes, It would have been a lot closer, Katz would have taken it. But the reason why Street won, not because of the Investagation, But he put himself as the new "Semi BlaxExlploitation Hero Making sure he beats the man every damn time" and "A Vote for Katz, is a Vote For Bush Ashcroft and Chaney" Motto. Swift Terror 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2003 I heard on a radio show originating in Philly that DNC chair Terry McAuliffe, Bill Clinton, and Al Gore all visited Philly in the past weeks. They were there to basically rip on Bush and Ashcroft, in other words, saying to blacks "Ashcroft is gonna get you, you better vote for Street." "Ashcroft and his cronies are trying to oppress Street and the black community, come on now, let's send a message about 2004 Pres. election."
