Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 6, 2003 I have a trade offer on the table, that I'm majorly conflicted on. Stephen Davis and Jake Plummer(my team) for Domanick Davis(Texans RB), Steve Smith(Panthers WR) and Warrick Dunn I need a WR this week, because two of my starters are on bye. Marc Bulger is my starter and without Plummer my backup QB will be Jay Fiedler/Brian Griese. Domanick Davis is one of the biggest surprise players this year and Steve Smith has had a good year. I just don't know if they are worth giving up Stephen Davis and Plummer for.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted November 6, 2003 I'd want a way better receiver for giving up Davis, but Davis and Dunn aren't terrible replacements for him. Your giving up a lot for just a one week fix though. It might be in your best interest to just take the loss.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2003 I would make that trade, the health of Plummer is questionable so if you can get anything for him do it. Steve Smith is good for 5 rec 80 yards a game, Dominic Davis could go for 100 yards a game, and Warrick Dunn is risky as he works in a RB by committee system which changes every week. Do you have to drop a player for this trade?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 6, 2003 Yeah I'd have to drop someone, but I have some expendable players. It's not entirely for a one week fix. I could use some better WR depth, which Smith provides. My WR depth now consists of Deion Branch and Andre Davis. The bad thing about them is they play in systems that spread the ball out. I'm not really worried about the WR because I don't need a great one. My biggest concern is if the RBs I'd get are good enough replacements for Davis
starvenger 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2003 If this is a keeper league I do this deal without hesitation. If it isn't I'd try to get someone better than Dunn. I have my own question. With William Green suspended I'll be starting a 3rd wideout, but the question is, who? Options are Darnerian McCants (Was), Dennis Northcutt (Cle) and Brian Finneran (Atl). Note that I am also starting Seattle's D (vs Was) and TD's allowed count as -1. I'm leaning towards McCants (big play potential) but of course Cleveland looks to be very pass happy this week. Finneran can produce but the Falcons QBs suck.

Finneran can produce but the Falcons QBs suck. Steer far far away from the Vickless Atlanta passing game. Northcutt is Holcomb's favorite WR and Holcomb is playing. Cleveland always seems to put together great games when nobody gives them a chance to win, which is the case this week against KC. However, Cleveland's offensive line has been decimated by injury, so there's a chance of everything going wrong. McCants has big play potential, but you can't depend on him. He's the third WR, so you never know what kind of game he will have. The choice is really between Northcutt and McCants. I'd slightly lean towards McCants only because of Cleveland's banged up offensive line. But picking McCants against your dt in a league that deducts for TDs allowed is a tough situation. That could change my decision back to Northcutt. You'll just have to go with your gut feeling.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2003 First of all remember the Panthers play the Bucs this week, so Steve Smith isn't exactly a great one week fix. I wouldn't trade Davis unless I was getting a top 5 player in return for him. RBs are just too valuable and I think you could get more for him. See if an owner of Moss, Owens, or Harrison have RB problems and throw them Davis for a WR and a backup RB.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2003 Steve Smith may not be Top 5 in the NFL but he is probably the best WR in the NFC South besides Joe Horn.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted November 6, 2003 Smith is a quality WR, certainly. But between Jake Delhomme (I won't trust him yet), the fact that Smith is a total nut job, and Stephen Davis being worth a gold mine I don't think this deal works. Right now Dominick Davis' value is too high, IMO, because of a couple of hot games. Remember Anquan Boldin? Had a nice first few games and then fell off the face of the Earth. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted November 6, 2003 Actually Boldin has had several good games albeit without a touchdown, just no amazing games like he had in week one.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2003 Dom had 100 yards Smith had 9 rec 1 TD Dunn had 1 TD Stephen Davis did not play Did the trade go thru?
