Guest Corino 1000 Report post Posted November 7, 2003 " MAJOR LEAGUE WRESTLING CANCELS REMAINING SCHEDULED EVENT by Mike Johnson Updated: 11/6/2003 6:10:37 PM Major League Wrestling announced the cancellation of its final remaining date, 12/29 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the War Memorial this afternoon. The complete announcement reads as follows: Dear MLW fans: Due to the ongoing restructuring, MLW has cancelled its December 29, 2003 event in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. For ticket refunds, please contact Ticketmaster at: www.TicketMaster.com or go to your point of purchase location. Despite the cancellation and contrary to unfounded speculation, MLW is alive and well. You will be seeing us real soon. MLW wishes to thank its fans, especially those located in Florida for their continued loyalty. Your faith in us is not taken for granted. We are very grateful for your continued support. Please stay tuned for an exciting announcement in the coming days. Sincerely, Court Bauer Major League Wrestling This announcement follows the cancellation of the promotion’s 10/24 event in Jacksonville, Florida and the promotion’s Underground TV going on “hiatus” from the Sunshine Network. A scheduled event for 11/21, was pulled from the schedule without a location being announced or tickets going on sale. Despite all the obvious negative implications of this latest announcement, MLW Court Bauer has told both 1Wrestling.com and MLW employees that the promotion is fine and will return once it finishes restructuring management issues. I do know that Greg Bagarozy, who handled booking venues for the promotion (and for ECW before that), has left the company and that the promotion has told those that there are active negotiations going on that will be positive turnarounds for the company once they are completed. Until something concrete has been announced, however, the situation surrounding MLW looks murky at best. JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2003 That really does suck. Hopefully, MLW will get everything back together in time for their GTC Carnival in January or February.
Guest Markingout Report post Posted November 7, 2003 Also cancelled KoK. Oh well, I hope we see Toryumon in US eventually. I was looking foward too seeing who they were going to bring in for the event too becaue AJPW is in the US around that time. Oh well. The GTC Carnival should be interesting too see what tag teams will be in it.

JHawk 0 Report post Posted November 7, 2003 The last company that went through something similar was ECW. That's all I have to say about that.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Report post Posted November 7, 2003 No one expected this? I think I even said 2 months ago they'd probably cancel this one. But I don't think they're dead. Just need a time for retooling or whatever. Maybe work on having better storylines, because the only one I was actually following was Funk/Corino, and that was beaten into the ground. Maybe work on Production quality too. Some TV Shows the audio is so freaking low and most promos are unclear.

Guest Miss Indy Queen Report post Posted November 7, 2003 The last company that went through something similar was ECW. That's all I have to say about that. Also keep in mind that the guys who WORKED for Court used to work for ECW as well. The same people that help bury ECW were also helping Court. Hopefully he does the smart move and pushes himself away from these people. Smart move in getting rid of Greg Bagarozy.
Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted November 7, 2003 I think all this "retooling" is code for, "we need to find a new money mark to back our company." This is what happens when an indy group spends $30,000 a show on talent and whose only source of income is the gate.
Guest OSIcon Report post Posted November 7, 2003 I will be very surprised if MLW comes back. It is not out of the relm of possibility, but I really don't see it happening. It is abundantly obvious that they are having money trouble. They are going to have a hell of a time finding a new source of revenue when they have already blown through a TON of money with little to no revenue to show for it. If they do make a return, I would imagine it will be with a significantly different look. They can't operate on the kind of budget they have been operating on. Plus they need some source of revenue besides the live gate which I would imagine isn't coming anywhere close to covering their expenses.

Guest TDinDC1112 Report post Posted November 7, 2003 Are MLW's videos selling at all? They sound like pretty good shows that should sell like other indies do Bob - I have all their videos they released. They are good! Problem is that they had HORRIBLE customer service dealing with people and turned off a lot of people in the "tape community" who ordered their 4th tape, and then after their experience wouldn't order the 5th.
