cabbageboy Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 While driving home today in a thunderstorm I heard the new Offspring song "Hit That" on the radio. Who else has heard it so far and what did you think? Personally I thought it was ok, but didn't strike me as the holy shit type single in the vein of "Come Out and Play" that they need.
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Yeah it's alright, but nothing outstanding. But the rest of the album might be okay.
Henry Spencer Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 It's terrible. It's seriously the worst thing I've heard all year.
Guest Insanityman Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Eh, it's not the worst. Disappointing? Hell yes. Am I buying the CD? Not without many people telling me it's worth it.
Youth N Asia Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Decient. But I like Th Offspring, can't wait for the new album
cabbageboy Posted November 13, 2003 Author Report Posted November 13, 2003 Oh yeah, I mean the Offspring are one of the few bands that I eagerly await to put out a new release. Hit That certainly isn't the worst thing on the radio, on the all gloom and nu metal "New Rock" station it sounded quite different.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 It's better than the new Smile Empty Soul single that I was subjected to last night. "Nowhere Kid" or some such. The main riff reminded me of The Offspring, vaguely, when they went all pseudo punky and post-grunge. I'm positive that band's period of influence ranges only around the time when Grunge was really obviously starting to suck. Nowhere Kid is even worse than Invisible Kid. Even worse than Kid Rock. It sound like it was written by a kid. A really stupid kid, with zits and no friends. There's a hell of a target demographic.
1234-5678 Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 It's terrible. It's seriously the worst thing I've heard all year. Not surprising. They turned themselves into a joke a long time ago. The only songs even remotely good were "Come Out And Play" and "Self Esteem".
EricMM Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Have you even heard the rest of Smash JaxL?
Guest Nanks Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 I'm a big The Offspring fan so anything that isn't Pretty Fly or Get A Job, I'm gonna like. I have to say though, the synth piano gives me the shits, it makes the song sound like a lame 80s song from a band no one had heard of. I am eagerly awaiting the new album though

I think another band fell into the "became a joke a long time ago" section long before the Offspring...hmmm, who are they? Oh wait, juding by your sig you already know. Conspiracy of One was a very good album

Conspiracy of One was a very good album Damn, left myself wide open for that one. But c'mon, people haven't exactly been salivating at the thought of that hip new Offspring album. There's a reason people still give a shit about Axl's GNR. His music was actually good and actually said something. Tripe like "Original Prankster" and "Pretty Fly" makes Rock look retarded.
1234-5678 Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Have you even heard the rest of Smash JaxL? Yeah but all their stuff since then was so bad it forced me to dislike it.
LaParkaYourCar Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 You know what I've liked all the Offspring's CD's so far...it's good mindless fun. I may get it for saying this, but Smash is my least favorite.
Youth N Asia Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 It's not like they're trying to make art. There's nothing wrong with dumb fun rock. Americana is my least fav
